AC Upgrade Recommendation for a Forrest River 29VBUD with 30A Power Supply
Updated 09/02/2025 | Published 06/26/2025 >
Question:
Hello I have a Forrest River 29VBUD camper it came with a 13,500 BTU ac unit in it however it really struggles to cool down the unit. I was looking at possibly upgrading to a 15k unit or even an 18k unit however I’m on 30 amp service at my seasonal campsite. I’m worried the 18k would be too much. I’m looking for recommendations for my unit I just need an ac and it’s also ducted. Thank you

Hey Chris, thanks for reaching out!
The 15K Btu GE Appliances Deluxe Plus RV AC System # GE35ZR is the perfect upgrade for your current 13.5K unit, and it can be run just fine on your 30A power supply.
This is a completely new system so you'll need to replace your current thermostat and all of that as well. If you aren't used to doing something like this, then I recommend having a professional do the install for you.
An 18K could work, but you'll need to install an additional SoftStart which will drive the price up another like 300-ish dollars.
Where do you normally camp at?
