Will Installing The GE Appliances Deluxe Plus RV AC System GE35ZR Require Any Modifications?

Updated 07/23/2026 | Published 07/17/2026

Question:

I am replacing a GE rv ac unit, ARC15AACBL2. I have looked and found the GE unit to replace it. I need to know if it is a direct wired swap or will there have to be modifications?

Hey Billy, thanks for reaching out. The GE Appliances Deluxe Plus RV AC System # GE35ZR is the correct replacement for your ARC15AACBL2, but it isn't a direct component-for-component swap. Since your existing system uses the older R410A refrigerant and all new GE RV air conditioners use R32, you'll need to replace the entire system, including the rooftop unit, air distribution box, and thermostat. The new R32 components are not compatible with the older R410A components.

The good news is that you won't have to modify your RV's wiring. The # GE35ZR is designed to use your existing 120-volt power supply and thermostat wiring, so once the old system is removed, the new components wire right in.

What rig are you putting it in? Do you camp in a lot of warmer areas?

@BillyB Nice! I think you'll be happy with the new GE system. As far as ACs go it will be a pretty straightforward install. Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help!

@JesseM In your opinion, is the GE the best option for my RV? There are others, I have seen that will replace the one I have. What do you think is the better unit? Thanks, Billy Burgin

@Billy Good question. I like the GE units just fine, but my personal favorite AC is the Furrion Chill Cube. Main reason being it has an 18,000 BTU rating instead of 15K, and it pulls the same amount of power, if not less than most 15K unit. So you get less power consumption and more cooling capacity. Plus, they are very quiet. Also, the full system is a bit less expensive than the GE. For the full Furrion system, here is what I recommend: - Furrion Chill Cube Variable Speed RV AC System w/ ADB & Thermostat - 18K Btu - Ducted - Black - R32 # FR49TD Your RV has a ducted setup, correct?

Hi Billy, I have this unit installed in my RV. Installation was easy, just make sure that the wiring at the new thermostat ( in the wall) are matching so the control box gets energized. There was a different colored jumper wire attached to mine and it caused an issue. Rv manufactured during Covid ( Lies) ! At 79 degrees you'll need a jacket with the new refrigerant. GE made a good product this time. If I can help please ask?
