Features to know about

Haul Your Gear with Confidence: Class III Strength and 2" Receiver

Built for daily towing and weekend trips, this hitch is rated for 5,000 lbs gross trailer weight and 750 lbs tongue weight. When used with weight distribution, it handles up to 6,000 lbs GTW while maintaining the same 750 lbs TW rating. That’s solid strength for small campers, boats, or a fully loaded cargo carrier. The 2" x 2" receiver opening fits most bike racks, ball mounts, and cargo trays, so you don’t need special adapters for common gear.

Keep a Clean Look: Concealed Main Body and Gloss Black Finish

The concealed cross tube keeps the look clean under the bumper so only the receiver is visible. You get a factory-style appearance without bulky hardware hanging down. The high-gloss black powder coat finish is layered over a rust-resistant base coat and co-cured in a liquid Bonderite coating inside and out. It holds up well against road grime, salt, and moisture while keeping a smooth shine that lasts.

DIY-Friendly Install: Bolt-On Design with No Welding or Trimming

Installing this hitch doesn’t need special tools or shop space. The fully welded square-tube design bolts directly to factory holes in the frame—no drilling, no trimming, no welding required. It comes with all the mounting hardware and clear instructions to get it done in your driveway with basic hand tools. Once mounted, the open-back receiver makes it easy to clean out dirt or debris after every trip.

Engineered for Reliable Performance: Precision Welding and Safety Testing

Each hitch uses robotic welding for consistent strength and alignment. It’s tested in accordance with SAE J684 standards to ensure safe towing performance mile after mile. That means every time you hook up your trailer or load bikes for a weekend ride, you can trust the hitch to handle the job without second-guessing its durability.

This is my second time buying custom fit trailer hitch from you and both times the service was right on from placing the order and shipping. It was installed 30 minutes after delivered. Also both were custom fit and they were the fit my vehicles and install was not hard.

by:

Arthur did a great job in finding me the right hitch for my 2021 Honda Passport. It was on backorder but he assured me their stock would be in soon. The trailer hitch came in the very next day in their warehouse and I received it a full two weeks before it was promised. The product was top notch and took less than ten minutes to install. etrailer is the go to website for all your towing needs.

by:

The hitch looks great and fits well. The install was pretty easy though it is a bit awkward to do without a second set of hands. The finish seems pretty durable though there were a couple chips in the top coat of the hitch. Also not sure if it was my vehicle or the hitch but 5 of the 6 mounting hole lined up perfectly but the hole for the last bolt was right at the edge so a bit difficult to get started. All in all a quality built product at a really good price.

by:

The install of the hitch was easy, and it looks great. The best part of the whole thing was working with etrailer. Their customer service was above and beyond. They were in contact with me the whole way with a personalized email when the order was placed, when it shipped, and when it was delivered. And the price was so affordable. An OEM receiver from Honda was going to be $230 just in freight. The shipping from etrailer was free. Overall a great experience!

by:

Installation was easy. The trailer hitch receiver blocks the hands free access of the power tailgate under the center of the bumper, but kicking motion off the center still functions.

by:

Ordered this hitch for my new 2022 Passport Trailsport on a Saturday night and received it the following Thursday. Packaging was great and there was no damage to the hitch.
Took about 30 minutes to mount it. Highly recommend a second person to thread the first 2 bolts while you hold it in place. After that put some orange loctite on, spun the bolts in with an impact wrench and followed with my 1/2" torque wrench.
The hitch is strong, well built with nice welds and a nice finish. Bolts provided are high quality 10.9 grade with some beefy washers.
Very happy with this purchase and know I can get that last dump load run in before winter.

by:

This receiver fit perfectly. It is for the 2021 Honda passport sport. There is one online that looks the exact same but is a different model number and will not fit the 2021 passport. I bought it by mistake and had to return it. Shipping was fast and customer service is great. The website is an excellent source for all trailer hitch info. For one person installation tip… I used a small chain and s hook to lift and hook one side then bolted the other side and then unhooked the chain, held in place to get a bolt started. Took me about 30 minutes. Just take your time.

by:

Arrived quickly as promised, nicely boxed. A great value compared to the cost of a factory Honda hitch. I bought the hitch primarily to use with my Rockymounts Westslope 2 bike rack after purchasing a new 2021 Honda Passport. Keep in mind that when installing a factory Honda hitch, the rear bumper has to be removed, so it's not trivial to do yourself when going the factory hitch route. The Curt hitch is great alternative to the factory Honda hitch because the bumper does not need to be removed and the Curt hitch is mostly hidden.

The hitch arrived at about 4PM, and I had it installed before dinner using a floor jack and a couple jack stands to stabilize the receiver. So maybe 20-30 minutes. If you don't have these, you'll likely need two people to simplify installation. It is heavy to lift and bolt in without some sort of assistance. And after installation, I added a Curt cover, and it looks factory with only the receiver seen below the bumper. This keeps the original clean looking valance in place.

The Honda factory hitch sits about an 1 3/4 inches higher than the Curt hitch, but for me, I have the AWD model which sits probably the same amount higher than the 2WD. The Curt hitch actually appears to sit about the same height as the exhaust to be honest. Maybe slightly lower.

I am quite pleased with the appearance and how well the Curt hitch works with my Westslope 2 bike rack. I also saved quite a bit of money by ordering it from etrailer and installing the Curt hitch myself instead of going the Honda factory route.

by:

Worked as described. Easy to install. Curt makes a quality hitch.

by:

First of all, I am glad that this hitch is not warped, since I will be using it for a bike rack.
The installation procedure would have been straightforward if holes for bolts had been drilled at the proper distance...
The driver side has like 1mm larger offset than it should be and it made it impossible to put that bolt on the thread. After like 1.5 hours of wiggling the hitch I gave up and just drilled this extra 1mm. Then everything fit w/o any issues.
Btw, I have the black edition trim, and, even, the product video claims that the kick sensor still works - not in my case. Not a big deal in my case, but still.

by:

Solid hitch, arrived quickly and pretty simple for a couple middle aged women to install in less than an hour!

by:

I'm shipment just arrived this afternoon, so I haven't installed it yet. Everything looks of great quality and can't wait to see it towing my trailer!

by:

Awesome hitch, great qualty and it shipped right on time. Awesome service looks great on my wife's Honda Passport. It was easy to install with 2 jack stands I had it done in about 30 mins.

looks and works great, for what we use it for this was a value product. If I get another SUV, I will get this hitch again.

by:

Product looks great and blends in nicely with the vehicle. Unfortunately, the bolts that were sent are not the right size. I ended up going to a local dealer to order the right ones.

by:

Easy to install and looks great. Very happy with the purchase. And the installation video was very helpful.

by:

Arrived as described and looks great. Package was solid too. Additional harness purchased was placed inside the large box with the hitch. Very happy with it. Have not installed it yet, but looks sound.

by:

This is my second hitch. Great product. Going to use it for my bike rack.

by:

Shipping was quick. Perfect fit. Instructional video very helpful especially cleaning the frames bolt holes with a wire brush first. The only negative is not eanough paint on the hitch. I put two extra coats of rustoleum on mine before installing.

by:

The hitch receiver was of high quality and mounted exactly as it should. The bracket for the wiring harness was as advertised. The wiring harness hooked up as I saw in the installation video. After the installation was complete and I was moving on to the final step I saw that the 30 amp fuse that I thought was included was not in the package

by:

This unit fit exactly as promised. It an easy install with 2 people. The hitch is heavy and difficult to lift and install the bolts by yourself. It took longer than I expected to install because I didn't follow my own advise and installed it by myself. It took me several hours but would have been so much quicker with help. It uses 6 bolts that was exactly aligned with the vehicle frame. With help maybe 1/2 hour install.

Solid, sturdy, cleanly-welded, Class III hitch receiver, with an excellent paint job. Finish is amazing! Slots in hitch mount PERFECTLY MATCHED-UP with the weld nuts on my 2023 Honda Passport.
Installation was a breeze. Torqueing the bolts to 136 Foot Pounds was too much for me as I'm 69, and lack the arm strength. So I had a professional mechanic finish the installation with his Snap-On digital torque wrench.
My mechanic, Eric, said to me, "That's one damn fine hitch; where did you get it?" I told him, "etrailer, it is a Curt, made in the United States."

His response, "I'm really impressed with the quality of your hitch. I will be recommending etrailer to my DIY customers and buying their stuff directly for my installations for my regular customers."

I trust Eric and his judgment and have been using him for 20 years. I am thrilled with etrailer, their superb customer service, faaaaast shipping, and the Curt hitch they sold me.

by:

Items were packaged well, came in on time. Install was relatively easy on both items. Floor jack helps if you are doing it solo.

by:

I watched the video and followed the instructions. I chose the easy method of installing the cable assembly. You have to remove the snap-in storage container. You have to press very hard and at the location of the 3 tabs. There are two located on the side facing the inside of the rear of the vehicle and one facing the front of the vehicle.

The video showed that the 4 wire flat wire connector was long enough to provide sufficient length that you can place it be between the gaskets that seal the bottom of the rear door. On my 2022 passport, there was not enough slack to connect to the trailer unless I compressed the cable between the removeable storage container and the cover. I chose to add an extension cable as I was concerned that this could cause the insulation could be cut. This routes the cable further toward the front and back over to the rear without any possible cutting of the insulation.

The other method was to routed the cable thru the rubber gromet on the bottom of the frame and there would be plenty of length. I wanted to keep my cable inside the passport as I will not be using it that often. The video explains both methods.

If you dont have a plug in 4 wire tester, I would get one to keep in the car. Makes it easy to check for proper operation.

No problems. coating, which I think is powder coating, has held up very well.

I watched the wiring and hitch installation videos before I ordered your products. They made it look easy so I ordered both for my 2023 Honda Passport.
I installed them both yesterday and it even easier than I thought it would be. Thank you for making a great product and excellent installation videos.

The hitch fit great on my 2023 Honda Passport Elite! A perfect it and the icing on the cake is the kick feature still works without modification of any kind! That was the major reason I choose Curt and not the factory option; much less expensive too. This item would be 10 STARS if there was such a rating! No sure what data supports Curt's 750lb tongue rate rating as the most Honda rates the hitch for is 500 lbs? This is the 2nd Curt hitch I've installed and I did it by myself without any assistance or support; it's heavy so be careful. The video's make it so simple to install but you'll need some grunt to torque the bolts! Very pleased with my purchased and will buy Curt products in the future--in fact now it's time to install the wiring harness.

Hitch still working great. Sometimes the kick feature is a little glitchy, you have to get your foot just right for the hatch to open. Havent towed any heavy loads but I did bring my new bike home towing a u-haul trailer with itno problem and tows very smoothly. I originally wanted the hitch to mount a motorcycle carrier but I have not purchased yet. Noticed a little surface rust just inside the square opening but what hitch dosent have that? What if etrailer offered an aluminum or other light weight motorcycle carrier???

@Steven Glad the hitch is working out as it should Steven! I like to touch up my rust spots on my receiver with some Rust-Oleum spray paint. As for the motorcycle carrier we have something that will work great for you. Check out the Ultra-Fab Dirt Bike Carrier for 2" Hitches # UF48-979033. The rack itself weighs 50 pounds, and support a bike up to 500 pounds. Please let me know what you think about it.
