I installed this on a 2020 Vw Tiguan. I think the hitch is great. It fits like a tight glove. I would buy again. Jacob was helpful and efficient in answering questions and taking my order. The installation video was very helpful. However I do have a few comments. First, jacking up the car, while not required, is almost necessary, a lift is much better. We blocked the car up a good foot. It should be emphasized how difficult it is to line up the bumper holes. One hole lined up immediately. The next 3 took 2 1/2 hours. Both myself and the friend that helped me were in mechanical trades and we struggled. Finally, there were no suggested torque values for the muffler bolts. I gave this 5 stars because the fit was perfect. The instructional video was excellent.A capable diy individual can do this with a little lifting assistance.
Good product and easy installation. I have Tiguan Highline R model 2022 and this model comes without welded nuts and pre-installed bolts. Instead, the hitch comes with carriage bolts kit. The installation requires the plastic shroud to be permanently removed (see the pictures).
The only disappointment is that the shipping cost to Canada is $xx USD. When adding all other taxes the cost becomes close to $xxx USD. I saved some money (not really sure if I saved it) by going across the border where the shipping is free. Still, E-trailer may consider some better price for shipment across the border.
Great value and fit. Everything is hidden except for the receiver tube without having to trim the bumper. Instructions and videos were also really helpful. One area for improvement is packaging. The box had been beaten up by UPS so much that I had to paint some a couple of sections on the hitch that were back to bare metal.
The only problem I had that I didn’t see in any installment videos was the hole farthest from the bumper did not line up at all. I had to ask for help and it turns out my friend had to put a long like screw driver in a hole next to it it was like a square hole and lifted up on the inside of the screw hole and that moved both sides lining up the holes. I also used a jack stand that helped a lot. So it wasn’t really easy or extremely hard just a little confusing why the holes were out of alignment.
Excellent quality and fits perfect, as usual. This is the 3rd hitch I've purchased from etrailer.
The only complaint I have is with the packaging of the hitch. Considering the size and weight of the items being shipped, I'm surprised that etrailer hasn't improved their packaging methods over the years in order to have items arrive undamaged and reduce the likelihood of package handler injuries. I've attached photos of my package as I received it.

The instructions were very well written and made the instalition easy. Having a helper makes the job easier due to the weight of the hitch. I highly recommend this product !
Hitch bolted right up. No cutting of bumper cover or exhaust lowering needed on 2018 Tiguan SEL R-Line.
I purchased the Curt 1 1/4" hitch and the vehicle wiring harness for my 2019 VW Tiguan. The hitch fit with no problems (it's a two-man job to hold it in place while fitting the bolts in). The Curt wiring harness also plugged right in. No splicing needed. The only shortcoming was the lack of detail in the harness installation instructions. You have to remove both interior side panels in the cargo compartment to access the tail light assemblies. The instructions did not provide much guidance regarding the removal of these panels. There are several trim clips and seat-release handle mounting screws that have to be removed in the process. A video would be nice.

I installed the 1 12 Curt trailer hitch on my 2019 Tiguan a year ago. Super easy install no cutting or drilling, and it has worked great pulling my utility trailer. The etrailer installation video was very helpful.
Installation instructions were poor at best.
This trailer hitch for my 2021 VW Tiguan is beautifully built and offered at a terrific price. However, at the time I ordered this hitch I was a bit worried since VW's own hitch is not yet being manufactured. Well, my fears proved to be completely unfounded. Although the installation instructions (plus video) were clear, I am not that handy and so brought the hitch to my VW dealer. As advertised, this hitch fit perfectly with no bumper modification required.

The hitch has been perfect. I use the hitch for a bike rack that supports two heavy electric bikes. Both hitch and rack underwent a successful stress test via a cross-country trip of 2500 miles - thus, at high speed and with plenty of bounces.
Shipping was fast, though the box needs better reinforcement since the hitch broke through on the sides. The hitch fit well and I particularly liked that fish wires were included in the installation kit.

I ordered the Curt 1 1/2" Trailer Hitch Receiver and the Rola TX-102 bike rack for my 2018 V.W. Tiguan. They were received very quickly. I am very impressed with the high quality of both products. The hitch will be used exclusively for the bike rack and not for towing, although it is certainly capable to tow according to the stated capacities (I have a pick-up for towing). I am very happy with my purchases and feel that the price I paid was extremely fair given the quality and features of these products.
This is the 3rd hitch we’ve bought from etrailer. The quality and ease of installation are top notch! Highly recommend this company.

The opening for the ball mount is too big. There is Too much play which is causing the ball mount to bang side to side when towing
When the receivers were delivered 3/6/24 only 9 of the 10 boxes were received.
I believe that the order was for 10 receivers.

Hi Christopher, I'm glad to hear Jacob streamlined the ordering process for you and I'll let him know you gave him a shout out! Because of their size and shape, sometimes the hitches can be flexed during shipping. Sounds like your hitch may have been slightly flexed. You'll want to torque the M10 bolts to 45 ft-lbs. and torque the 7/16" hardware to 59 ft-lbs. I'm happy to hear you were able to get this to fit perfectly and that the install videos came in handy for you!
