Crossbeam support required: This Axle-Less system requires crossbeam support. If your trailer frame doesn't have a crossmember in place, you can retrofit it with one, or you can add a support by running a piece of 2" x 2" steel tubing through the square holes cut into these units. You could also add a steel reinforcement bracket to the inside of the trailer frame.
Jounce spring: Supports the weight of your trailer and cargo. It easily absorbs road shock and is constructed of AEON heavy-duty, hollow rubber.
Rebound spring: Delivers a smooth, stable ride - regardless of how much cargo is on the trailer. It controls the movement of the jounce spring to minimize trailer body roll, bounce, rattle, and bottoming out.

It was a very straight forward install, it goes pretty smooth if you take your time, double check your layout,

Make sure of your bolt sizes (length) before going to the store. If you plan the project, don’t rush, its not a race, it goes really good. I spent about 10 hours spread over two days by myself. I am just waiting for tires to arrive.

All that said very happy with the product and etrailer. Will recommend for any axel/suspension replacement.

ok, so firstly, the parts came well packaged and undamaged. What you need to know is that you may have to add angle iron or box tube or other metal parts NOT PROVIDED to make the hubs line up with where they were on your previous suspension (if this is a replacement). This is important to assure that the trailer rides at the same height, and that the tires are located in the same place in the wheel wells. In my case I had to add two pieces of box tube to the frame, and a third one that spans across from the left to the right axle-less suspensions. Also check that your trailer frame is square so that the toe-in adjustment is possible. All of this was fairly simple. Now to the satisfaction of the ride... I was replacing a leaf spring suspensions because it was making too much noise over bumps, and not damping the response to bumps well enough, with my very light weight boat (200 lbs). With the new parts installed, and radial tires replacing the bias ply tires I had, I do not hear the trailer at all now. I don't feel it bounce any more either. I completely did what I was looking for. I also want to mention that there were other sources of noise that I took care of as well. The hitch tongue was loose in the receiver, my trailer jack handle was flopping and making noise, as was the handle on the boat crank. With the new suspension and tires, and these fixes, I am ready for my cross country trip with the boat.

I bought an 18 ft boat trailer and built a rack for carrying kayaks. The axle was rated for 2000 lbs on leaf springs. The trailer bounced like a basketball. After watching the video for this suspension system, I figured to give it a try. This product far exceeded my expectations. The trailer rides like it's floating on air, and the next best thing is all the spring rattling is gone. I would never go back to a leafspring suspension again. I can't believe how well this works.

I have an old sears game fisher trailer that was modified to fit my 12' Livingston, and you can't find parts to fit those old hubs, etc. so I switched it over using the Timbren system. Installation was a breeze for me and a friend, less than 3 hours total time using regular garage tools, and I couldn't be happier with the results. I went with a square bar instead of "boxing in" the hub members as it was easier and less work. I'd recommend the Timbren Suspension to anyone...

Best axle system for overland trailers and their travels, great independence system for those 1-6 trail ratings, simple to work on , easy bolt on system. I would recommend to grease after each trip . The standard Duty -4" Drop- 4Bolt Flange- 3500 lbs give me about 21" clearance with 35" x 12.5 tires

The trailer rides great down the road and no more worries about saltwater and rusty leaf springs. Not a cheap option but I’m very happy with the setup. When installing, just be sure to measure accurately and have sharp drill bits. A drill press type of guide also helps ensure correct drilling angles. The first picture is of a mounting gusset a local welding shop made. One is needed for each side and necessary to provide needed mounting strength-at least on my trailer frame. Pics 2 and 3 show the mounted suspension on one side of the trailer. Pic 4 shows the suspension on one side of the trailer with the axle attached and a separately purchased disc brake assembly mounted on it. Finally, pic 5 shows a 2” box channel between both suspension assemblies. Independent suspensions would have been nice, but I wanted to ensure trailer rigidity was maintained. So, after one year, so far, so good. It’s all smooth sailing down the highway.

Installed the Timbren Axle-less suspension a little over a year ago and approximately 5000 miles ago. I have been extremely satisfied with the installation and performance thus far and have had no issues. I also chose to install an optional crossmember for more strength using a 1/4" thick piece of 2x3 steel. I had to increase the weight capacity of my campers suspension due to renovating the interior completely and adding more weight. I also strengthened the frame to accommodate the extra weight. In addition to installing the Timbren 5200LB system I installed new 12" electric brakes and upgraded to 225/75R15 tires with E load range rating.

Very exicited about these axels, I have been eyeing these for over a year. (Excellent service from etrailer, they had my parts to me in 1 day from the time of placing the order.) These axles seem to be well made and fit nicely with the Dexter hub and drum assembly and the 12" electric brake kit. I installed this all on a M1101/M1102 trailer frame after removing the factory axel assembly. I have not ran these on the road or off as of yet but will give another review at that time. The fit and finish are great and the packaging was good, a little banged up from shipping (missing 1 washer)

Timbren saved our RV road trip! The leafs on the axle on our 2018 Jayco TT came apart while driving in Maryland. We tried going to the manufacturer, but they were useless. Going to a RV mechanic meant being grounded for at least 2 months. Then we found Timbren. With the help of Timbren's excellent staff we purchased axle-less system through etrailer, who made sure we got as quick as possible. It came ahead of schedule, my husband installed the Timbren system and we were back on the road! The axle-less system is better than the original manufacturers. If you plan on taking your RV or TT farther than 100 miles GET THIS INSTALLED and get it through etrailer.

The order came in on time and the customer service at etrailer.com (Ashley) and Sean from Tmbren was outstanding. They both were very helpful in my choosing the right product for my needs. The axle less suspension's performance is absolutely superb. It vastly improves ride quality. I am using it on a teardrop camper that often goes on gravel roads and the raddling sound from the leaf axles was horrible. A couple of points to consider before you settle on the axle less suspension: keep in mind that you will lose some hight of the trailer. While you will gain clearance from the lack of the axle, the suspension will make the trailer sit lower than before.i had to lower my hitch by an inch to maintain the trailer leveled. Also it does appear to compress at higher rate than the leaf springs, which makes it softer but easier to reach it's limit. Overall this product is absolutely a must if you are looking to improve the safety and the quality of your towing.

Actual trailer weight 1540#, 210# tongue weight. 1310# suspension load. After 600 miles, both springs collapsed making the suspension rigid. Have received replacement springs from Timbren but haven't had a chance to try them out.

Hi J.P.; I'm sorry to say we do not carry any axles that match the 54" length you have now. The best I can offer is the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension # ASR1200S02. Replacement Hubs for Old Trailer Axle Using Timken 1380 Inner/17580 Outer Bearings
The ID for the TImken 1380 is .875 and the 17520/17580 is .625. None of the hubs we offer are compatible with spindles that have a diameter that small. Honestly, you'll likely have a difficult time locating replacement hubs compatible with that spindle and your best bet will be to replace the axle for one that has spindles that are compatible with readily available modern parts. I do have an option for possibly upgrading the weight capacity of a Harbor Freight trailer but we wouldn't have any traditional setups for this application. How Much Clearance Is Needed For Tires When Installing Timbren Axle-Less System Under Trailer
I called my contact at Timbren to get some information for you about the axle-less systems. For the 1,200-lb systems the distance from the center of the spindle to the underside of the frame where the bracket mounts it is 2-5/8 inches. And for these systems they have a deflection of 2-1/8 inches. I have attached a drawing that shows these dimensions you can check out. You will want at least an inch over the deflection distance. Trailer Axle Solution for Small Welding Trailer with Narrow Wheelbase
That's shorter than what we have standard axles for but we can help with a Timbren axle less system like part # ASR1200S02 and then with 5 lug hubs like # AKIHUB-545-2-G-EZ-2K but if you need a standard axle you'd probably need to find a trailer shop near you who can order you in custom axles.

Replacement Axle Recommendation for a Motorcycle Trailer with Torsion Axles
The best solution I can recommend for you would be a Timbren Axleless system like part # ASR1200S02 as this will work similarly to what you have and has a 1,200 lb capacity. The lightest capacity straight axle we have is 2,000 lbs so I would not recommend it for you. I have a set-up that may work for you, but unfortunately we do not have exact matches for the parts you are looking for. Since the number of leaves doesn't directly relate to the capacity, the main concern when choosing leaf springs is the length of the spring. The tire size you referenced, 18.5 X 8.5 - 8, has a metric equivalent which is 215/60-8, but this does not come into play when considering the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System # ASR1200S02. This Timbren system can be bolted or welded to your trailer frame. What matters for using this system is that your existing hubs must have the same bearings, races and seals as the hubs for which this system is intended.
