Question:

Does the 1 1/4 inch hitch fit the R Line model which has a different rear bumper cover that all other models?

We have had a customer successfully install the Curt Class III Trailer Hitch # C13381 on a 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line with the only modification being that they had to lower the exhaust a little as the muffler was in contact with the trailer hitch. This isn't too uncommon though and we have a helpful article that I have linked for you to check out that goes over how to accomplish this.

Since the Class II 1-1/4 Curt Trailer Hitch # C12177 installs the same way you will be able to install it on your R-Line but I would imagine that you have to make the same modifications to where the exhaust fits. Attached is a sample installation video and the instructions for you to reference.
