Today, we're going to take a look at the Taylor Made 15 Inch Long Steel Gas Shock. Now, this gas shock will replace a worn out or damaged shock on your dock box or boat hatch. It uses a coated annealed steel rod to provide corrosion resistance, so it is perfect for high salt-water areas. This does easily install in minutes. There's no special tools required. When you do install this, you always want to make sure that this inner rod portion will face down, and it is recommended to replace these gas shocks in pairs.
The connection type for the shock is a 10 millimeter ball socket on each end. The length of this is always measured from the center of this ball socket to the center of that one. If we take our tape measure, and we go center to center, there's your 15 inch measurement. Output force on this shock is 40 pounds. The last thing I want to show you is how you install it. If we just zoom in to show you the connection.
You can see there's where the ball socket would go, and over it is this retaining clip. When you go to remove your old shock, you just take a small screwdriver, put it under that retaining clip, pry it up, and then that clip will go up, and you can remove the old gas shock. Then when you go to install this new one, same way, pry up the clip. You don't want to remove the clip. Just pry it up enough, so it unlocks.
Then you'll be able to put that on over the ball socket, and then push the clip right back down to install it and secure it. But that should do it for the review on the Taylor Made 15-Inch Long Steel Gas Shock..
