Today, we're going to take a look at the Taylor Made 10-inch Long Steel Gas Shock. Now this gas shock will replace a worn out or damaged shock on your dock box or boat hatch. This one is a coated annealed steel rod, which will provide corrosion resistance. It's perfect for high salt water areas. And this does easily install in minutes, there's no special tools required. But when you do install this, you do want to make sure that this inner rod will always face down, and it's recommended to replace these gas shocks in pairs.
The connections type on this shock is a 10-millimeter ball socket on each end. Total length, and the length is measured from the center of the ball socket to the center of this one, so the length on this is 10 inches. Output force on this shock is 40 pounds. And when you go to install this, let me show you first, we're going to zoom in a little bit here and I'll show you the connector. It's a retaining clip right here. So when you go to remove your old shock, take a small screwdriver, put it on the retaining clip of the old shock.
Pop that clip up, and then you will remove the old shock. And then when you go to put this new one on, same way just put your screwdriver on here, raise that clip. You don't want to remove the clip, just raise it up. So it unlocks and then push this down on the ball, and then just push the clip back down and it'll lock it into place. So it's very simple installation.
But that should do it for the review on the Taylor Made 10-inch Long Steel Gas Shock..

Did a bit of research on how to install these shocks via [online video] and ordered this product and installed in my rod lockers. Great products all around, was offered support but did not need it (got lucky). I need to fish more but so far so awesome.
2008 Grady White boat needed a new hatch lift. Boat manufacturers are not like automobile manufacturers, and many times the customer is on his own to find older parts. This was a perfect fit for the worn out gas strut. Even thought the force was 10 pounds lighter than the original part, it works fine. I was most pleased as the size and connectors fitted perfectly to effect a quick sure fix.
These struts worked phenomenal. I should have added them to our food trailer years ago. We retrofitted a 1972 Shasta Go Tag Along trailer and used real pine wood for a nice warm look. The side windows we cut into her were made of 2x4, plywood and pine wood. They were extremely heave and difficult to open. The struts were added and now they slowly open with by themselves. They are easy to close and only take one hand. Should have added them years ago!!
Replaced a hatch strut on a 2015 Stingray. Exact match and perfect fit.
Exact match for a compartment door on a 2016 Unity Leisure Travel van. Speedy shipping as well.
This gas strut for our boat hatch works perfectly. I received this faster than I thought I would and it was very well packaged. I have ordered things before from etrailer and have always had great results and service! I'm sure there will be other things I will need down the road for our boat...after all...you know what BOAT stands for don't you? It stands for "Bring Out Another Thousand"! :) When it comes to anything else I need....this IS the company I will order from.
Thank you etrailer for your service.
Comparing this to the usual steel gas strut is like day and night. Seems well made, and looks great. More important is my review if etrailer. When my order did not arrive, I sent them email. Shortly, I was notified that it was being tracked. When tracking did not find it, I emailed etrailer again. They expedited delivery of a replacement.
perfect for my toolbox lid.
The struts work great on my motorhome. Customer service was very good when I bought the wrong ones the first time! Thanks etrailer
These worked well for my project. I was putting a concession stand style hatch in the basement wall that separates our play area from the living area. It took some research and a few tries to get them installed at the correct angle. I wanted the hatch to almost, but not quite touch the ceiling.
They were returned due to the wrong size ball mounts. Customer service was nothing short of excellent.
Just what I needed
Worked great on our boat hatch. Always a great experience using etrailer.com when purchasing items for our truck and boat.
Well made and can withstand wind gust that are not real strong
This is how the strut was delivered?????
Well will see how it works.
As always, etrailer delivers a great customer experience. In this case, not only worth a fastest, but in this case they were the only supplier I could find for this particular product, which is usually European.
They always get me my stuff quickly, and I use their website websites videos constantly to purchase and install travel related items. They are welcome discovery in my life.
Excellent product
I used this in my boat for my rod storage compartment. I have had it for 1 year and has worked great. It gets opened a lot and has held up to jarring in the waves.
etrailer delivers again with high quality parts, accurate fulfillment and speedy delivery.
Thanks,
Taylor Made probably has the most selection in force, replaced all my 20's with the 40's. very easy to change, seem to be well made. Couldn't tell who the manufacturer was of my box hatches were, only the lb force. These Taylor Made Gas Struts were just the ticket for replacing the originals, and at a good price.
I'm hoping this does the trick.Had 30 lb on before went to 40 lb on boat hatch.Installed perfect and seems to work better .Different brand but seems exactly the same install. So will see how it works out if it does I will be ordering another.Came fast and in perfect shape.Thank you!

Still working great.Does not seem to be falling like other ones did.Do not know if because I went to a 10 lb over stock or just a better strut. But I will be replacing the other ones with these.

Shock worked great on my Ranger bass boat.
I would like to thank Abigail J. for her excellent and timely customer service.
