Ellen: Hey everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. Today we're taking a quick look at the gas strut from Taylor Made. This is going to be a replacement for the gas strut on your compartment door or a storage box lid so that you can have that lift up without having to muscle it up yourself. It's going to have 30 pounds of force, so it can hold about 30 pounds of a lid and lift that up to make it nice and easy to get that open. And also it'll hold that compartment door open, so you don't have to worry about holding it the whole time to load in any of your gear or equipment. It does have a threaded end, so we can adjust the angle on that.
The ends are going to be a 10 millimeter ball socket connection. The length overall from the center of the top socket to the center of the bottom socket is 10 inches. Put a ruler on that, so you can actually see. Ten inches there from connection point to connection point.Again, our compression force is 30 pounds. It is just going to be a single strut.
This has been heat-treated, so it's going to be very durable, and it's also been annealed, so it should be resistant to any kind of corrosion. And, also, the other nice thing about having a gas strut on your lid is that it's going to prevent your lid from slamming closed, so it's going to allow that to just gently close down and protect the lid and all your items inside. That's pretty much all there is to it for our look at the Taylor Made marine gas strut. Hope this video's been helpful in deciding if this is going to be the right one for you. If not, we do have some other options available here at etrailer.com for different kinds of gas struts, so check them out. Thanks for watching..
