Today we're going to take a look at the Taylor Made 10 inch long steel gas shock. Now, this gas shock is designed to replace a worn out or damaged shock on your dock box or boat hatch. This one is a coded a annealed steel construction, provides corrosion resistance, so it's perfect for high saltwater areas. This does easily install in minutes. There's no special tools required. And when you do install this, you always want to make sure the rod portion right here is facing down. And it is recommended to replace the gas shocks in pairs. The connection type on this is a removable 10 millimeter ball socket.
It has the retaining clip on top. And I wanted to zoom in just to show you how that attaches. But on each end you can see on the shock, there's a ball socket here and then on top of it as a retaining clip.So if you get a flat tip screwdriver and you just slide it under that retaining clip, pry up on it and it will un-clip the retaining clip. And then this will release the pressure on here. And then you'll be able to push this onto the 10 millimeter ball.
And then once it's all the way on, just push your clip back down and it'll secure it into place. So it's a very simple installation. Now the length on this shock, the length is always measured from the center of this ball socket to the center of this one. So if we take our tape measure and we go center to center, there's your 10 inch length. And the output force on this shock will be 20 pounds. But that should do it for the review on the Taylor Made 10 inch long steel gas shock..
