Video Transcript for Breaking Down the Taylor Made Marine Gas Strut for Boat Hatches-3691822-50

Michael: Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a quick look at this Replacement Gas Strut. This is going to be a great replacement for the gas strut on your boat's hatch. It will allow you to replace a worn out or damaged strut so that you can extend your hatch without having to worry about it slamming shut, causing damage or anything like that. It will make it easier to lift and harder to close so that you have that nice little resistance to ensure that your fingers don't get pinched or nothing gets slammed into as you're closing that hatch of if a big gust of wind would come along, it's not going to allow it to a close on its own either. So this is a ball-and-socket installation. It's going to fit onto your 10 millimeter ball stud.

This socket is pretty easy to get mounted in place and then you can see it's the same on both ends these are straight on, there's no angle to them whatsoever. So very easy to get mounted in place to your boat's hatch. This is constructed of a heat-treated steel, so it's going to be very durable. It's got a corrosion-resistant coating, so it's not going to rust even in your salt water environments. So if you're taking your boat out on the ocean or on a salt water lake, it's going to hold up well, not going to have to worry about that. Our overall length from the center of one ball socket to the center of the other, looking at right at 10 inches, you can see there, this does have a compression force of 50 pounds.

So it's going to be very strong, going to help to prevent that hatch from slamming shut, like I said, and this is just going to come with one strut, so if you do need multiple, one for each side, you will have to order those separately. Just get one with this set. But I think this is going to do a good job again, making sure that that hatch stays open when you want it to, and then going to give you a nice little bit of resistance or resistance when you're closing and a little bit of help as you're opening it up.So that's going to complete our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching..
