Video Transcript for The Low-Down on the Taylor Made Marine Gas Strut for Boat Hatches

Today we're going to take a look at the Taylormade 20" Long Stainless Steel Gas Shock. Now this gas shock will replace one worn out or damaged shock on your boat hatch. It is a stainless steel construction, so it does provide maximum corrosion resistance, so it is perfect for any high saltwater areas. This does easily install in minutes. There's no special tools that are required to install it, and when you do install this, you always want to install it with this rod portion facing down, and it is recommended to replace these gas shocks in pairs. The connection type on this, it's a removable 10 millimeter ball socket design, and I want to zoom in just to show you the details on how you would connect this to the ball. Basically if you look you'll see there's the connection to your ball.

So what you'll do is just pull up on this cap, and if you pull it up far enough, it'll release the tension just like that. There's four clamps in there. It releases the tension, that'll allow you to push that onto the ball. Once it snaps onto the ball, just push that cap back down and that'll put tension on there and hold it into place on the ball.So very easy to install. No tools needed, really.

The length on this is 20", and that's always measured from the center of this ball socket to the center of this one. If we put a tape measure on that, there's your 20" length and the output force on this shock is 20 pounds, but that should do it for the review on the Taylormade 20" Long Stainless Steel Gas Shock.
