Today we're going to take a look at the Taylormade 20" Long Steel Gas Shock. Now this gas shock is designed to replace a worn out or damaged shock on your dock box or boat hatch. This is a coated annealed steel construction, provides corrosion resistance, so it is perfect for high saltwater areas. The shock does install easily in minutes. There's no special tools required, and when you do install this, you want to make sure that this rod portion right here is facing down, and it is recommended to replace these gas shocks in pairs. Connection type on this as a removable 10 millimeter ball socket with a retaining clip. What I want to do is zoom in here so we can talk about the details and how this connects.
Basically on each end you'll have your ball socket here, and then above it is the retaining clip. So what you want to do is take a flat tip screwdriver, stick it under that retaining clip, pry it up to release it, and then that will allow you to push this onto your 10 millimeter ball. Once it's on the ball, push that clip back down and it'll secure it in place. So it's a very simple installation. Now the length on this shock, the length is always measured from the center of this ball socket to the center of this ball socket. So if we take our tape measure, there's your 20" length and the output force on this shock is 30 pounds.
That should do it for the review on the Taylormade 20" Long Steel Gas Shock.
