Installed on the front of a 2008 GMC 4x4 Sierra. Primarily utilized for a hitch mount snow plow (DK2). Installed without any modifications - works good with the plow.
* The hitch sits low to the ground (stock suspension). I installed a 2" leveling kit from RC and that helped with clearance. I am satisfied with the quality of the product - will purchase again from Curt for my Durango

Front hitch is still in place and working well - I mostly plow with the front hitch

Front hitch fit perfectly on a 1995 K1500. I was able to install without modifying the front tow hooks nor the fascia. This is the hitch you want.

1996 Chevrolet Suburban

I have had the front receiver hitch installed on my 1996 Suburban for about a year now. I have a 12000 lb winch installed using that receiver hitch. I have gotten stuck twice and had to use the winch to extract the truck. Very glad that I have the front receiver hitch as it made putting on the winch very easy. Also useful for mounting a receiver mount bicycle rack to the front as well.

Great! Still there and still very useful.

It was exceptionally easy to bolt up to my truck. had it on and torqued to spec in half an hour. Still waiting on the plow I ordered for my truck, but it got damaged in shipping and now its another week out. I have another truck with the same type of hitch on it and it works great.

by:
1999 Chevrolet Suburban

Product was shipped promptly and arrived a few days later. Packing was good for a heavy item with pointy edges, no issues breaking out of the box. Installation on a lift took about 30 minutes on my 1999 K2500 Suburban. The bolts were long enough to allow for my tow hooks that were already in place. A bolt stringer to pull the rear bolts from the top (inside the frame) is provided along with nuts, the other four just replaced the stock bolts that I had that mount from the bottom into tapped frame metal through the tow hooks. Curt makes great quality stuff. Clearance was reduced a little but I'm not concerned about it.

by:
1997 GMC Suburban

The front mount hitch looks and feels very solid. I haven't installed it yet, but it looks as though it will be trouble free. I'll be using it for my 9,000lb Westin winch, and a cargo carrier on my 1997 K2500 Suburban

by:

Following the instructions I had the hitch mounted in 30 minutes. The picture shows what I wanted it for. Great for when I am towing the pop-up camper.

by:

Took about 20 minutes to install!!! Needed it for my winch. Michelle S. Took my order I think on a Tuesday and said I'd get it sometime the following week. I got it yesterday!!! Took a whole 2 days!!! If you need to order anything call Michelle. I think her ext. Is 79327. SHE'S AWESOME. THANK YOU MICHELLE!!!

Excellent hitch, easy install with minimal tools. Installed on front of my 1999 K2500 Suburban. I can now use my bicycle rack on the front of my Suburban leaving the rear doors fully functional.

GMC

I purchased this front receiver hitch to be able to park my travel trailer in a tight space. It is everything that was advertised. Installation was easy and straight forward. It took me a bit longer to install due to my 99 GMC Truck's tow hook nuts not being welded to the inside of the frame. There was a threaded metal strip instead which moved around when the bolts were removed. It was difficult to line up the tow hook and hitch holes to get the bolt started in the strip. I finally used a magnet to support the tow hook and a pair of needle nose vise grips to hold the strip while I started the bolts. Hind site is 20 - 20, It would have been easier to use the bolt and nut combinations provided with the hitch for all 6 of the holes. Out side of this, assembly was easy. The wire tool provided to install the bolts thru the inside of the frame was a great time saver and a wonderful invention. I am well satisfied with this hitch.

by:

The hitch is well built but simply too low (when mounted) to be of much practical use. Ideally the receiver needs to be at the same level as the bumper.

We do have an alternate hitch where the receiver is higher for your 1995 Chevy CK pickup. It is part # 65005.

I've purchased two (2) Hitch receivers from etrailer.com. One - for Toyota FJ Cruser and one - for Chevy pickup truck. Both fit my vehicles perfectly. I am very satisfied and happy with the site service and product.

by:
1998 GMC C/K Series Pickup

I bought this to make parking in my garage safer and easier. It's a very steep driveway and very tricky access street. This hitch makes the job much easier. I can use it for long boat ramps if and when I need to. It was quite easily installed. Glad I purchased it.

by:

Easy to install and is holding up great. I recommend a hitch cap to prevent oncoming road debris from prematurely wearing away at the receiver. Thank you Curt and thank you etrailer!

by:

This front hitch mounted up very nice. However the clearance could have been closer to the bumper. That made it nessary to order a lift adapter for adiquate ground clearance for my use

Good looking finish just what you would expect. I may have saved a couple of bucks buying something made in china but this is top craftsmanship. The fasteners were top end also, didn't have to go to the hardware store and buy new bolts this came with top end stuff. Bolted up with about 1/8th inch clearance very nice. Took longer to read the directions than it did to install, shipping was fast also. will use these folks again.

by:

It was too low to be installed on the front of my truck kept scraping the ground. It's been sitting in my storage for over a year.

We do have an alternate hitch that will sit at an estimated two inches higher when installed then the Curt hitch. It is part # 65005 on our site and will fit with a 1989 GMC CK Pickup 1500 2 or 4 WD. It does require drilling, the fascia will need to be trimmed, and the license plate would need to be relocated.

by:
Chevrolet Suburban

Fit my Suburban perfectly. I use it to mount my foldable cargo basket (also from etrailer), so I can still open the rear doors easily. Very handy!

by:

Worked great and let me keep my tow hooks. 2 of the bolts stripped but etrailer very quickly replaced them with a new set. Go E!

by:

Mounted easily and proved to be very useful. Used A receiver type mounted snow plow all of last season to plow my driveway.

  • Front Hitch Recommendation for 1992 Chevy C1500
For your 1992 Chevy C1500 we have the Curt front hitch part # 31042 that I would recommend as it does not require moving the front license plate bracket like the Draw Tite part # 65005. I would only recommend going with the Draw Tite if you needed the max ground clearance as possible.

  • Which Front Mount Trailer Hitch for a 1999 Chevy Suburban has the Best Ground Clearance
I have included a picture. In the picture the top drawing is the Draw-Tite hitch # 65005. You can see how the receiver sits just below the bumper (and will stick through the optional lower fascia piece, if present). The bottom installed picture is from a customer who installed the Curt hitch # 31042. It is also below the bumper but appears to hang down lower than the Draw-Tite hitch. based on this the Draw-Tite hitch is going to provide better ground clearance.
