Question:

I want to order this receiver and I measured the holes in my frame at 30 1/2 inches which is the recommendation but I also read that my frame should not measure 34 inches outside to outside which it does so I am confused. I am really impressed with all of the data and specs provided. I’ve dug deep into your recommendations and I know exactly what I want now except for this discrepancy. I went to Curt's website to confirm. The Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver item # 31042 will fit the 1990 Chevrolet C/K Series Pickups. This part fits a wide range of GM vehicles spanning over 10 years. The tech tip you saw was put on our website because of something one of our installers ran into using this product on a vehicle with a frame 34". Given that the bolts on your frame measure 30 1/2" on center, I recommend the Draw-Tite Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver item # 65005. It is also confirmed to fit your 1990 Chevrolet C/K Series truck but it does not have the restriction of a 34" frame width. It does not fit Crew Cab models from 1988-1991 or 2500 and 3500 Series 2WD models with 8-lug wheels. I have included a diagram detailing the dimensions of the Draw-Tite item # 65005. These bolt holes are oblong to give you some space for adjustment. They are 30 3/8" on center. The wider bolt holes will be more than enough to accommodate the 1/16" of an inch difference you will have to adjust for on both sides.
