So far the trans cooler has been working well. I also used the adapters. Both products are doing well after 1500 miles or so and many hills, mountains, and trailering.

Great cooler upgrade for my 1997 GMC Yukon! Little delivery damage, but was so easy to bend those fins back to original shape so no worries!
Nice that you had proper dimension measurements online, so it was easy to figure out what kind I can fit in my truck. Complete kit had everything I needed to get it done!
Modified old cooler bracket little bit and that was it. Works great!

by:

Won't be sorry, thanks

by:

Will make the installation of the trans cooler easier

by:

Have I gotten my refund for trans cooler fittings that weren't needed? 1994 k1500 trans cooler is working great.

by:

Very handy for unique installations fo transmission coolers

by:

It looks like from reading the matierl if one is using the cooler in series with the factory cooler this adapter is not needed.
Thus I would like to return, but I fear the shipping cost will not make sense, dollar wise...

Thus the recommendation should state if you are adding a cooler to your system where one does not already exist, then you'll need this adapter.

So if your adding to an already existing system, you do not need the adapter.

by:

Worked out great for installing the extra trans cooler.

by:

Pro help online to order. Trans cooler shipped right away.

Exact fit for my 2000 Chevy Silverado. What a time saver. I am glad that etrailer suggested these.

by:

These fittings made connecting the hoses to the steel transmission lines very easy - glad I bought them! I recommend getting them.

by:

I purchased these fittings thinking these would fit my GM product. NOT.......These are 3/8 and looks like the fit the truck series only as stated on the package. Be aware

  • Weight Distribution System for 8000 lb Boat/Trailer w/ Surge Coupler Towed by 2004 Chevy Avalanche
As a starting point, I would recommend finding the exact as-towed weight and tongue weight of the boat and trailer. This is an important consideration in choosing a weight distribution system, as well as determining if you are exceeding the towing capacity of the Avalanche. According to my research, the towing capacity varied from 7100 up to 12000 lbs depending on how the truck was equipped. Exceeding the manufacturer stated towing capacity is not recommended. For best performance, you...

  • Recommended Transmission Cooler for a 1998 Chevrolet C/K Series Pickup with the 5.7L V8 Engine
For the 5.7L V8 engine in your 1998 Chevrolet C/K Series Pickup, I recommend taking a look at the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/Barb Inlets part # D13504. This transmission cooler features a plate-fin technology which is one of the most efficient types of transmission coolers. The larger surface area (132 c.i.) will do an excellent job of keep the transmission fluid cool while towing your camper. The best place to install this cooler would be in front of the radiator/condensor...

  • Installation Of Transmission Cooler With -6 AN Fittings On 2005 Chevy Silverado With 6.6L V8 Diesel
-6 AN fittings are a specific threaded fitting size. The Derale Hyper-Cool Remote Transmission Cooler Kit w/ Fan, -6 AN Inlets - Class V # D13960 has the specific fittings you mentioned but it also comes with the barb fittings that simply use a hose clamp. On this cooler, the lines attach to the sides of the cooler. This transmission cooler has internal turbulators for superior heat transfer. I've attached an installation video of a similar transmission cooler for you to view. For...

  • Can a Supplemental Transmission Cooler be Used to Bypass Factory Cooler on 1996 Chevy K1500
A lot of people want to bypass the factory transmission coolers located inside the radiator. It is permissible to do so provided that the cooler is efficient enough. For this we recommend either going with the largest cooler that will fit in the engine compartment or the most efficient design. The most efficient design is a stacked plate such as # D13403. If you want to go with a plate fin design you can use # D13614. These are both rated as Class V which is the highest available. Another...

  • Preventing Leaks When Installing Derale # 15718 Engine Oil Filter Relocation Kit
I spoke with my contact at Derale and they provided some very useful information. They said you do not want to use a liquid sealant of any type because it acts as a lubricant when first applied and would actually allow you to over tighten the fittings causing leaks. They suggest using a thread tape and tightening to approximately 8 to 10 ft lbs. Although the suggestion to hand tighten and then turn an additional 1/4 turn may work, the term hand tighten would be different for everyone.

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for 2002 Chevy Avalanche
The aftermarket transmission coolers we offer are supplemental coolers and designed to work in tandem with the factory cooler as opposed to bypassing it. Having said that, you do want the largest cooler that can fit, so you'll need to measure to determine the space you have on your 2002 Chevy Avalanche. If you have 11" wide x 12" tall x 7/8" deep of space I recommend the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit with Barb Inlets - Class IV # D13504. Keep in mind the 5/8" Inverted...

  • Replacement Radiator Fitting for 1996 Cadillac Fleetwood
According to my research, your 1996 Caddy Fleetwood has the GM 5.7L engine. The radiator adapter fitting you mentioned, part # D13018 would indeed be compatible with your vehicle, and could be used to replace the cracked fitting you mention. Since the transmission line running into the radiator is a hard line, you will need to install a short length of 11/32 I.D. hose like # D13003 between the two fittings. You will also need some hose clamps, like those provided with # D13008 to secure...

I am not familiar with a 2012 GMC Sierra 1500 with a 4.6L V6 engine, so I did some research, but I was still not able to find a model that came with a 4.6L V6 engine. According to my contact at Derale, the 5/8 Inch Inverted Flare Fittings, # D13018, that you purchased should fit the 2012 and 2013 GMC Sierra 1500 4.3L V6. My contact at Derale also told me that they have not received any information that the fitting sizes have changed on this truck. The adapter fittings that you purchased...

  • Installation Time and Difficulty of Installing a Transmission Cooler on a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Depending on the vehicle, and where the transmission cooler, # D13503, is going to be installed, it could take around an hour or longer. There really is not set amount of time because every vehicle is different and different size engines have more or less space and use different fittings. For a 2003 Jeep Cherokee with a 4.7 liter, use Derale Radiator Adapter Fittings, # D13018. For a 4.0 liter, use kit # D13028 for 3/8 inch x 3/8 inch hose splicers, or kit # HH41413. You will not need a longer filter or spacer when using this pan cooler. In fact this transmission pan cooler fits most 1982-1999 model 4L60Es. In most cases the stock transmission cooler is adequate at best on vehicles when not pulling a trailer. You can pull the 12,000 lb capacity trailer at a maximum load of 10,000 lbs. There are hitches that are available as you stated that rated higher than your vehicle capacity. You cannot over cool a transmission. The ideal install location would be in front of the radiator and A/C condenser, right behind the grille.
