Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located inside your trunk, behind the tail lights on both the driver's side and passenger's side. You will need to remove some interior trim or carpeting to access the harness. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed within your trunk.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Video Transcript for Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2018 Nissan Rogue

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Nissan Rogue, we're going to be installing Tekonsha's T-1 Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4 Pole Flat Trailer Connector, part number 118480. This 4 pole flat trailer connector's going to live inside your vehicle. When you're ready to use it, just flip up your paneling and pull it out from your storage compartment. You can then drape it down over the bumper and you're ready to hook it up to your trailer. It'll stay between the weather stripping on your vehicle. That will keep it in place, and it won't damage the wiring. This 4 pole flat trailer connector is going to provide your trailer with all the necessary lighting, which includes the left turn signal, right turn signal, tail lamps, and stop lamps.

Included on the connector, you're going to get a dust cap that'll help keep out any dirt and debris, and can also be used to wind it up when you go to store it back inside. This harness will hook inline with your factory wiring, and has a separate control module that'll control the lighting. This module is fuse protected so that it'll keep everything separate from your vehicle. That way, if you have a fault on your trailer, it'll open that fuse and keep your vehicle safe. We'll begin our installation in the back side of our vehicle here. We'll need to remove some paneling so we can get to the back side of our lights and run our wiring.

Whatever you have there, you just need to get that out of the way. We'll then remove the trim panel here. There's a small cover in the middle, just pop that up and set it aside. We'll need to remove the two push pins located here. There's one on each side.

Just use your screwdriver to pop out the center and that'll come out. Now we can just pull our paneling up. Just work it up all the way across. We can just set that aside. We'll now need to remove the panels on the inside here. There's four fasteners we'll need to remove, both the hooks and both the bolts located underneath these small panels.

We'll use a small screwdriver to pop out these panels and open up the access point for our hooks. For the hooks, you want to flip your hook up and then pop the plastic panel outward. That'll expose the bolt. We'll do the same thing with our other hook. Now we'll pop up these covers, just use your small screwdriver. Get behind it and just pry it outward, and do that with both of them. We'll now use a 10 millimeter socket to remove all the bolts that we just exposed. There's a total of four. When you remove the bolt for your hook, the entire hook assembly will come out.Now take you weather stripping and just pull it away from your paneling all the way up to the edge there. This will expose the fasteners that hold this in place. You can just pull outward on it, however, I recommend using a screwdriver or trim panel removal tool to get behind the fasteners and pop them out just to ensure you don't cause any damage to them. There'll be three down here in the front. Once the outer three have been removed, you can just pull your panel outward, as there are more fasteners but they'll be released when you pull outward. This will expose the connectors for our taillights so we can plug in our new wiring harness. You'll repeat this same process on the other side.We can now access our connector located right here on the back panel. You'll want to disconnect this by pressing in on the release tab and pulling away from the other end. We can now take our new harness that has the yellow, white, and brown wire, we're going to plug that into our driver side. The connector we just disconnected is the female side so we'll plug that into the male on our new connector, and we'll take the female of our new connector and plug that into the one that's back here still attached to the wall.Just below your connector you're going to see a large location of ground wires. We're going to remove the 10 millimeter bolt that's connecting those using our 10 millimeter socket. We'll then take our ground wire, which is the white wire with the ring terminal on it, just going to slide that right onto it and then put it right back into place. We'll now take the red and green wire and we're going to run this across to the other side. On this side we're going to do the same thing. We're going to plug it right into that connector that goes to our taillight assembly, so we'll disconnect that in the same way.Now take the long strand of black wire provided in the kit. We're going to strip back some of that and we're going to crimp on one of the butt connectors from the kit. Now, on the other end we'll crimp it to the red wire coming off of our module. We're now going to attach our module. We're going to clean off the area where we're going to attach it, we're just using some alcohol to do this. This will help the adhesive pad stick. Then you'll want to clean off the back of your module as well. Now peel off the back of the adhesive pad, stick it to your module, peel off the other backing. Then we'll stick it in place. Want to hold it there for about 25 seconds to ensure that it adheres properly. Can now clean up our wiring a bit. We'll use some zip ties to just attach that to factory wiring wherever possible. That way, it'll ensure that they're out of the way and they won't get pinched by any of our paneling. We're going to be routing our black wire down through this grommet located over here. You can really run it down through this grommet and there's another one back here which are a little closer to our module, but both of these grommets are going to be closer to your exhaust system, making it more difficult to route underneath the vehicle. If we choose this grommet here on our passenger side, we'll avoid all of our exhaust system and it also comes down to some factory wiring making it easier to route up front. Just going to tuck the wiring up underneath the carpet here to run it across. Have to route it back behind these. We can now poke our wiring down. We're going to use a screwdriver to just make a small hole in our grommet, and we'll poke our wire down through the hole that we just made. Now we can grab our wiring and we're just going to feed it all the way down through the hole that we just poked it through. Now we're going to take our wiring and we're going to run it to the front up into our engine compartment so we can hook it to our battery. I'm going to route that wire now, and then I'll show you the path that I took to get it there. We took our wire out of the grommet, we routed it over to our factory harness here. We zip tied it up and then from there we ran over top the gas tank, we came down the side of it here, and we just followed our brake and fuel lines up all the way to the front. There was already an open slot for our wire to sit in, so we just utilized that open slot until we got up here. We'll now use a fish wire to bring our wiring up into our engine compartment. This can be any solid but slightly flexible item. We're going to use a piece of airline tubing, but a coat hanger also works really well. We're going to push it down here behind this heat shield and we're just going to run that down and we'll connect our wire to that so we can bring it back up. We'll then use some electrical tape to tape our wiring to our fish wire. Just line it up and run the tape around. Make sure that when you tape it you tape all the way around the tip so that way it doesn't get caught on anything when you're pulling it up. Then pull out your fish wire until you get your wiring fed all the way up.We'll then run our wire over towards our battery. At any point you can we'll just clip this up. Now that we've got our wiring routed across, we can make it our connection to the battery. We're going to take our fuse harness and we're going to cut it right in half. Then we'll strip back each end. On one end, we're going to crimp on a yellow butt connector. Now, we've upgraded from the butt connector that comes with our kit to a heat shrink butt connector since this does live outside the vehicle. This will help prevent any moisture and corrosion from building inside of it. We'll hook the other end to our black wire, so you'll want to strip that back. Then we'll crimp the yellow ring terminal that comes in our kit onto the other end. We'll now connect this to the positive terminal of our battery, right there. We'll have to remove that nut. Use a 12 millimeter socket to remove the nut. Slide the ring terminal from your fuse on, and then reinstall the nut. Now you can insert the fuse that came with your kit into your fuse holder, flip over the top, and then we'll heat shrink down our butt connector. You could now plug in your tester or your trailer and verify it's working. You could pick up one of these testers here at etrailer.com. We'll verify that we have our left turn signal, right turn signal, tail lamps, and brake lamps. Now that everything's working properly we can reassemble all the panels here on our back. We're going to reassemble it in the opposite order that we removed it. That completes our installation of Tekonsha's T-1 Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4 Pole Flat Trailer Connector on our 2018 Nissan Rogue.

The product has worked well. We don't pull a trailer often but we have had not problems with it within the first year. It was nice to have an installation kit that was specifically designed for our vehicle. 694165

(2012 Rogue) Simple step by step instructions online to wire from the back of the vehicle to the battery. Instructions were for a 2013 model but still spot on. Suggest putting the vehicle on ramps or up on a lift to facilitate installation. 670027

The product is solid and the video instructions for both the hitch and wiring was absolutely helpful and easy to follow. It is a sure fit for my vehicle. The time it took me to finish the install and wiring is o/a 2 1/2 hrs. And it is because I did not have a lift or a maintenance bay to go under the vehicle. 664541

Fit like a glove. Took me about 2 hrs to install. Hardest part was running the wire underneath the car. Since I had to pull tires off the car it was easier to run wire up to the battery with the tire out of the way. Thank you etrailer. Look forward to going camping pulling my trailer. I will be buying more products from you. 655377

The wiring harness was simple with a couple exceptions. If you are not familiar with removing trim panels be sure to watch the video first. Makes it a lot easier to know where the attachment points are. Also, the black wire (it should be red) that goes to the battery is a pain. I had planned to run it thru the firewall. After removing numerous panels and routing the wire to the front driver's side, I discovered it was not really feasible to pass thru the firewall. So started over and ran it underneath. Use a lot of wire ties to secure the wire. Jacked the driver's side up with a 3 ton floor jack for easier access underneath and used jack stands for safety. Everything looks and works great. 554793

The product worked great, I had no issues interconnecting to the existing wiring harness. The video on the your web site is very helpful almost better than the instructions in the package. Getting the power lead from the back to the engine compartment was a bit tricky as I wanted to stay away from hot or moving parts. This caused me to be a bit short with the primary wire. I added about 1 foot and it is now working perfectly. Thanks Great product!!!! 63057

Thank you etrailer.com! Not only did the hitch I ordered arrive sooner than expected, it was super easy to install...in about 30-40 minutes. The wiring harness took a bit longer, but thanks to the "how-to" video, we got it installed perfectly, didn't break anything...and it works!! We did the complete install in our driveway, without any jacks. Luckily, I fit under the car with more ease than my husband and was able to thread the wiring just like the video showed. By the way, I'm a 64 year-old grandmother and if I can do this, anyone can. The hitch looks great and we are extremely happy with the entire process, from ordering to install. Thanks John, we will definitely recommend you and your product. 39802

Wiring harness has worked with no problems for a year now. Installation was straightforward and the instructions were easy to follow. The hardest part was routing the wires underneath the vehicle and up to the battery in the engine compartment. I had to use a few of my own cable tye wraps to route the wires away from rear axles/suspension and the exhaust system. 729129

I ordered a hitch and lighting kit for my Nissan Rogue late on Friday. They said it would be shipped out on Monday. Received it on Tuesday and installed it that same day. Their video showed me how easy it was to install the hitch. I had no problems on the installation of the hitch. The lighting kit I didn't install yet due to weather. And the lady I spoke to was great, see deserves a raise. Just to make note, the etrailer hitch had the best price compared to all other manufactures I have seen. 726961

Removal of plastic undercarraige and 5 bolts. That's it! Only about 30 minutes to install. I bought the 118480- T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector and that was pretty straight foward as well. The hardest part was trying to take the plastic interior side panels off without breaking any of the plastic but, once I realized how it worked, very straight forward. Installing trailer hitch was very easy, on my Rogue had also installed the two plastic panel back in place to keep the debris off the rear bumper. Wire harness was a different story, mainly trying to run the 12 gage wire up to the battery. Final ran the wire with the wire harness on the drive side of the car, up to the LH A pillar area. Use the grommet by poking a hole thru it for the LH Front door, also poked a small hole thru the splash shield for the LH Wheel Well and continue to follow the hood latch cable. 662147

I cannot be happier with etrailer.com and also their customer support services. The purchase was easy and delivery was fast. But the real magic happened when I watched the online installation videos for the installation of my hitch and wiring harness. It saved me so much time in figuring out how to disassemble my vehicle's panels and install and wire my hitch. The dealer wanted $1K to install a hitch. Another aftermarket installation wanted $675. I easily did this in a couple of hours and it cost me $171 and my time. 652244

  • Will Hands Free Liftgate of 2019 Nissan Rogue Work with Hitch Installed
  • The hands free liftgate sensor for your 2019 Nissan Rogue will still be operational with the installation of an aftermarket trailer hitch like the etrailer hitch part # e98846. However, you will need to place your foot on either side of the receiver tube opening in order to activate it. This is the case for most vehicles that have the hands free liftgate sensor. I attached an install video for this hitch for you to check out as well. If your plan was to do some towing the best trailer...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver for 2018 Nissan Rogue Compatible with Tailgate Lift Assist
  • For your 2018 Nissan Rogue SL, I recommend the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 36542. This is a class II hitch receiver rated for up to 300 lbs tongue weight and well over the towing capacity of your vehicle at 3500 lbs. The ECU is not something we carry as most liftgates work just fine when you add an aftermarket hitch. The sensor that is often covered up at the hitch location just won't sense the movement, but either side of the hitch tube will work fine. If you have issues, then...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver for a 2016 Nissan Rogue to Pull a 600 lb Boat on Trailer
  • The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 36542 that you reference is a confirmed fit for your 2016 Nissan Rogue SV and has a Gross Towing Weight (GTW) of 3,500 lbs and a max Tongue Weight (TW) of 300 lbs. This should be sufficient to pull your boat and trailer but you will want to check your weight to make sure. If you have not bought the trailer hitch yet then I recommend going with the Draw-Tite # 75902 which has a slightly higher rated TW of 350 lbs and uses a 2 inch receiver meaning...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch for 2008 Nissan Rogue to Tow ATV Trailer
  • The Draw-Tite Class III Max Frame Receiver Hitch # 75902 referenced in your question is a great choice and is confirmed to fit your 2008 Nissan Rogue. This Class III hitch is custom-fit for your vehicle so it will use existing holes in the Rogue's frame for a no-drill installation. The hitch itself has a tongue weight capacity of 350 pounds, which should be more than enough for your single ATV trailer. With that being said, I took a look at the online owner's manual for your Nissan Rogue...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch for 2018 Nissan Rogue
  • For your 2018 Nissan Rogue I recommend the etrailer.com Class III Hitch # e98846 because it has the highest tongue weight capacity and features a unique matte black finish that provides a rugged look that won't show scratches. This Class III hitch will install on your Rogue without the need for any drilling since it uses existing holes in the vehicle's frame. Its crosstube will also be hidden behind the rear bumper so the only thing that will be visible is the 2 inch receiver, keeping...

  • Do Appearance Panels Get Re-Installed on 2017 Nissan Rogue When Putting On etrailer Trailer Hitch
  • The plastic parts are just "appearance" panels, and won't be re-installed after putting the etrailer.com Trailer Hitch # E98846 on your 2017 Nissan Rogue. These panels do not serve any specific function for your Rogue and as such can be put aside after installing the hitch. As you can see from the accompanying photo of the hitch installed on a '17 Rogue, they don't won't affect the overall appearance of your car (save for someone going underneath it). If you plan on using this hitch...

  • You can install the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C56033 or T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118480 on your 2011 Nissan Rogue so the connector goes under the vehicle body instead of hanging out the rear hatch. Since the harness does plug in behind the taillights (see accompanying photo) on your Rogue many people store it there for simplicity because you will need to find a way to route the actual connector...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2013 Infiniti G37X
  • Whether or not you will need a draw bar (ball mount) depends on what you will be using the hitch for on your 2013 Infiniti G37X. By the way that is a super-cool car but I may be biased since I have a 2008 G37S! If you will be using the hitch for a bike rack or cargo carrier then you would not need the draw bar. But for towing it is essential. For bike racks or cargo carriers I recommend Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 24831 because with it you are not required to use a stabilization strap...

I have linked a video showing an example installation of this hitch for you. If you plan on doing some towing I recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. • Turn Signals Will Not Work When Hooking up a 2016 Nissan Rogue to Trailer With 4-Pole
  • You will want to start off by checking all of your grounds and making sure that they are all securely connected to a clean surface; sometimes even some paint can cause problems like yours to occur. The next thing you will want to look at is the connector on both your 2016 Nissan Rogue and your trailer. Make sure that they are clean and free of debris. If this is the case then you can test the functions on the rear of your Rogue using a Circuit Tester # 40376 to make sure all of the functions...

  • 2 Inch Trailer Hitch for a 2016 Nissan Rogue
  • I would recommend the Draw-Tite Class III Max Frame Receiver Hitch, # 75902, for your 2016 Nissan Rogue. It will serve your needs for a bike rack as well as your light weight motorcycle trailer. The approximate measurements are 5 inches to center of pin hole from the outermost part of the rear bumper and 14 1/4 inches from the ground to the top inside portion of the receiver, so this should maintain the fairly concealed appearance you are looking for. I have attached a best trailer hitch...

  • Does the Tow Ready Wiring Harness # 118480 Have to Be Run to Vehicle Battery
  • Powered trailer wiring harnesses like the Tow Ready part # 118480 that you referenced have to have the battery wire run all the way to the positive post of the vehicle battery. The reason for this is so that the taillights of the trailer won't be putting any amperage draw on the delicate taillight wiring of the vehicle. All of the amperage would be drawn from the battery instead. If you were to power the unit from a 12 volt source like what you mentioned you would be defeating the circuit...

I recommend using ball mount # 3593 with this hitch and a 2 inch hitch ball like # 19258. If you check your coupler and determine you need a 1-7/8 inch diameter ball, then I recommend using # 19256....

  • 7-Way Trailer Wiring Connector Recommendation for a 2015 Nissan Rogue
  • For your 2015 Nissan Rogue you will first need to start with a 4-way to be able to install a 7-way. For that you would need the part # 118480. Now if your trailer does not have brakes all you would need is the part # 37185 as an adapter to convert the 4-way to a 7-way. If you do have trailer brakes you would need the # ETBC7 instead of the # 37185 and a brake controller. This kit comes with everything needed to wire up the 7-way and install a brake controller. The trailer hitch and ball mount you use might have higher ratings than that, but you'll always be limited to the capacity of whatever the lowest rated component of the towing system.
