Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side interior trim panels in your rear cargo area.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed within your trunk or rear cargo area.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Circuit-Protected Tail Light Converter

A tail light converter is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. The tail light converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

This converter safeguards itself and your vehicle against possible electrical shorts and overloads with integrated short circuit protection. Just install the connector as indicated and rest assured that the wiring system of your vehicle will remain feedback-free.

Video Transcript for Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe

Today on our 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe we'll be installing the Tow Ready T1 Connector, part number 118415. To begin our install we'll need to remove the rear threshold from the vehicle here at the trunk. We'll pull the handle here opening the door. To remove the threshold we'll peel the rubber molding away which will allow us to bet underneath the threshold. With our rear threshold loose we already moved the jack tools. We'll undo the three bolts that hold the tray in place.

Next, we're going to go ahead and remove the side panel covers to access our tail light warning. And you'll see down here in the cover is our plug that we'll be using. We're then gonna use a piece of hard air tube as a fish line. We'll run it through behind the panel and now the hole here is the bottom of the panel. We can then take our T1 connector for the left side and attach it to our air hose.

Before we attach it to our airline we're going to go ahead and take our white ground wire and peel it from the yellow and brown wire because in order to make a good ground with this vehicle we'll need to leave the wire down by the T1 module box. Now, we'll attach our connectors using some electrical tape. We'll then feed our connector up through the hole and bring it up to our connector. We can then remove our electrical tape and we'll set our air line aside for use on the passenger's side of the vehicle. We can then go to the connector here at the factory harness, unplug the tail light assembly, plug in our T1 connector on one side and in the other side we'll plug back into the factory harness which will make our connections.

We'll now go ahead and make our ground. We use the self-tapping screw supplied with the install kit before they threw the island over white water in finding a piece of sheet metal, we use our drill. Now our modulite box comes with a two sided tape already attached to the box itself. We'll simply peel the adhesive backing away and attach it to the inside of the vehicle underneath the paneling. We can now extend our red and green wire to the passenger's side.

Now that our connections are all made we'll, bend our four pole connector out and we're going to go ahead and bring the connector out from the sides between the tray and the side panel itself. So after determining that we can go ahead and reinstall our tray, we also want to make sure that your red and green wire is tucked away so that when the tree is reinstalled it doesn't interfere with any of the clips. I could simply bundle up the 4-pole harness and store it down here in the tray. When you need to use it, you simply open the Tray, bring your harness out and to the back of your vehicle to make your connection with tour trailer. You can then simply close the door on the wires because the molding is padded enough that it will not crush the wire. However, you do need to stay away from the locking mechanism on the rear door as that could damage the wire. And that will complete our install of the Tow Ready T1 connector, part number 118415 on our 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe.

This was a breeze! Went exactly as the online video said. The threshold actually came out with the storage tray which helped me skip a step. I did do one thing differently and that is I took a 1 1/4" paddle bit and drilled a hole in the left side of the storage tray. This allowed me to thread trailer wire in for storage without it having to go in-between. 406308

Worked like a champ on a Hyundai 2011 Santa Fe. Towed a trailer from Seattle to Ashland, OR and then to Spokane, WA. Zero problems. The ball mount clunks a little as it moves around inside the receiver when driving. A little annoying but I shimmed it with a couple of thin pieces of HDPE plastic to quiet it down. Installed the hitch by myself which was a pain. A second set of hands would have been very helpful. I didn't remove the muffler just moved it out of the way with a piece of wood. Starting the bolts was a little tricky without help. Installing the wiring harness was straight forward and uneventful. Derek S. at eTrailer was very helpful with steering me towards the correct wiring harness. Would buy from these folks again. 391854

Do you have a question about this Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring?

  • Will The 24x60 Cargo Carrier E98874 Block the Tail Lights on a 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe
  • The 24x60 etrailer.com Cargo Carrier part # E98874 is not too wide for your 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe. However, I believe what you may be concerned with is the cargo carrier blocking the tail lights while folded up. If that is the case then what you will want to do is measure outward 30" from the center of the trailer hitch. That will give you a good idea of where the edge of the basket will sit that way you can see if your tail light will be visible. The other option you have is to install...

Because of its cross tube design, the Curt Class III # C13073 is going to allow for easier access to the spare tire mounted under the vehicle. • Can 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe Without Trailer Tow Package Tow a Camper?
  • You can tow with a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe, though according to the owner's manual, without the towing package you have a maximum towing capacity of 2,000 lbs. In order to tow with your Santa Fe, you would need a hitch, and I recommend the Draw-Tite # 75471, which has a bolt-on installation so no welding is going to be required. You would also need wiring to add a 4-way connector, the T-One Harness # 118415. I also checking out Ball Mount Kit # 989900, which may fulfill your towing needs...

You are correct, the tab to the left of the receiver is for mounting wiring like part # 118258 or # 118415 to your 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe with a bracket like part # 18144.

  • Will Installing Draw-Tite # 75684 on 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe Prevent Lowering of Spare Tire
  • As you can see in the provided photo, installing the Draw-Tite Class III receiver on your 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe will somewhat obstruct the spare tire. You will still be able to deploy the spare tire if while lowering it, you push the edge of the tire toward the front of the vehicle until it clears the hitch. The hitch on my wifes van is obstructed in exactly the same manner, and I can tell you from experience that getting the spare lowered is no big deal. If you were planning...

  • Trailer Wiring installation For My 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe
  • The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness, part # 118415, will plug inline with the tail light wiring behind each tail light. This wiring harness does not require a trailer prep package to install. The # 118415 is a plug and play wiring harness and does not require any splicing of wiring. The 4-way trailer plug will be stored in the rear cargo area of your Santa Fe when it is not being used. When you are using the 4-way trailer plug, you can just feed it over the rear door weather stripping. I...

  • Wiring Harness Recommendation for a 2007 Hyundai Sante Fe
  • There are two wiring harnesses available for the 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe, but one of the harnesses, # 118258 is a replacement harness for vehicles that came with the OEM tow package wiring, so it will not work on vehicles that did not come with trailer wiring from the factory. If your vehicle did not come with trailer wiring, or you are not sure, the best option is to go with the T-One Wiring Harness, # 118415, which will work on the 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe whether or not it has the factory...

  • Recommended Wiring to Install Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller on a 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe
  • To install the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller # 90195 on your 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe, you will need to do some cutting and splicing. This is not a difficult process when you have a 4-way trailer connector and use the Universal Brake Controller Wiring Kit # ETBC7. This kit gives you everything you need to make a trailer connection for a trailer with brakes. It includes all the wiring, circuit breakers, and connectors for installation. This will allow your brake controller to communicate...

  • Does 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe Spare Tire have to be Removed to Install Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 75471
  • The spare tire on a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe does not have to be removed to install or use the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, # 75471, provided that it is the factory spare and not a larger one that was added later. I have included a link to the installation instructions. You will see that installation of this hitch is a 2 step process. I have also included a link to a video showing a typical installation and it will be the same on your Santa Fe. You will see that put the hitch in place without...

  • Is Trimming Required to Install Curt Trailer Hitch on 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited w/Dual Exhaust
  • On a 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe, when installing Curt trailer hitch # C13073, you will need to trim the heat shield under the vehicle. Technically, you could just fold the area of the shield that would interfere out of the way but this might make installation more difficult. The bumper does not have to be trimmed and you cannot see the heat shield unless under the vehicle. I have linked a video showing an installation of the hitch and it also shows trimming the heat shield. If your father...

  • Wiring a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe with a Brake Controller and 5-Way for a ShorLandr Boat Trailer
  • I can help you, no problem. I did some research on the ShoreLandr trailers that come with electric over hydraulic brakes. They also should come with the Titan Brakerite Electric-Hydraulic Actuator, # T4813100. You will need a brake controller that is compatible with electric over hydraulic braking systems. The easiest to set up and to use is the Tekonsha P2, # 90885. If your 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe has a 4-Way trailer connector, we are part way there already. If not, you will need to...

  • Curt Hitch C13073 versus Draw-Tite 75684 for 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe
  • Curt offers a round tube Class III receiver, part # C13073, but to satisfy their warranty requirements, a stabilizer strap # 18050 needs to be used for non-trailer loads like a bike rack or cargo carrier. If you intend on only using the receiver for towing, the Curt would be a good choice. The Draw-Tite # 75684 is constructed of square-tube steel. Because of the spoiler on top of the hatch, the stabilizer strap will not work well on the Santa Fe, so for a bike rack or cargo carrier,...

  • Are Mounting Bolts Included In Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, # 75684, For 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe
  • The Draw-Tite Class III 2 Inch Trailer Hitch, # 75684, that fits your 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe will include the complete mounting hardware kit and installation instructions. If you are towing you will also need the Draw-Tite Ball Mount, # 2923, and the Pin And Clip, # PC3. The recommended hitch ball would be the Tow Ready 2 Inch Hitch Ball, # 19247. The wiring harness you will need is the Tow Ready T-One Wiring Harness, # 118415. If you have the factory tow package you would use the...

  • Complete Towing Package for a 2010 Hyundia Sante Fe Towing a Travel Trailer with Weight Distribution
  • I would recommend the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, item # 75684, for your 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe. This hitch has a 5000lbs gross trailer weight rating and 500lb tongue weight rating, when used with a weight distribution system. You will need to check the towing capacities of your vehicle in the owners manual or at the dealer to determine if the vehicle is capable of towing the load you will require. The best weight distribution system for your trailer will be one that matches the tongue weight...

  • Recommened Parts to Add an Aftermarket Tow Package to a 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe
  • To tow your boat trailer with your 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe you need a trailer hitch receiver, ball mount with the proper hitch ball, a pin and clip or locking hitch pin to secure the ball mount, as well as a trailer wiring harness to power its lights. Also, if the trailer has electric brakes you need a brake controller. The hitch receiver I recommend is the Curt # C13073. It's a 2 inch, Class III hitch to get the maximum towing capacity you can out of your Hyundai. It's rated up to...
