Imagine installing a trailer wiring harness without the hassle of splicing wires or worrying about compatibility issues. With the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness, you can simply plug the connectors into your vehicle’s OEM tow package wiring harness located at the rear, ensuring a seamless fit. This feature is especially valuable for those with a factory tow package, allowing swift installation without altering the existing wiring. The product's design guarantees compatibility with a wide range of vehicles, including popular models like the 2004 Toyota 4Runner and 2007 Lexus GX470.
Whether you're towing a trailer for a weekend getaway or hauling equipment to a job site, you need a reliable connection for your trailer lights. This harness includes both a 7-way RV-style and a 4-pole flat connector, providing versatility for different types of trailer connections. Switching between a multi-pin and a 4-pin connector is straightforward, eliminating the need for additional adapters. This feature ensures that the harness fits a variety of towing setups, accommodating diverse needs whether you're using a trailer with a 7-pin or a 4-flat plug.
For those who frequently drive through harsh weather or muddy environments, protecting your vehicle’s electrical connections is crucial. The Hopkins harness comes equipped with protective terminals that resist corrosion, coupled with a dust cap and terminal grease, to help maintain functionality over time. These protective measures can extend the lifespan of your wiring harness, ensuring consistent performance and preventing the dreaded midday equipment failure.
Stowing your connectors securely and keeping your setup neat is a breeze with the included mounting bracket. The overall harness length of 25 inches allows for flexible positioning, making it easy to reach convenient mounting locations under the bumper. This extended length ensures that your setup remains tidy and accessible, avoiding loose wires that could catch or snag.
Versatility is the goal when it comes to towing, and this harness allows for adaptation beyond its connectors. It’s compatible with 5-pole and 6-pole adapters (sold separately), which means you can easily adjust to different trailer lighting setups. This feature is perfect for those who switch up their towing gear or regularly rent different types of trailers, ensuring your vehicle can handle any scenario.
Peace of mind comes from knowing that your product is built to last, and with a 90-day limited warranty, the Hopkins wiring harness reassures buyers of its durability. This warranty highlights the confidence the manufacturer places in their product, backed by a history of satisfied customers who attest to its long-lasting performance.

It was a great connector but I recently got rear ended and will need a new one! Worked the whole year up until It got smashed. Was a little confusing while installing but not too bad!
Simple plug & play for my vehicle, a 2006 Lexus GX470, with factory-installed wiring.
Two cautions for my fellow GX owners:
1. Check your exiting connections before purchasing. I have a male 3-way and female 4-way harness on mine, and the Hopkins harness fits it PERFECTLY, but the Tekonsha Tow Ready harness that also fits SOME first-gen GX's, has male connectors on both of it's pigtails and is WIRED DIFFERENTLY.
2. Now having been through this twice, if you don't have access to a lift, I've found that by first removing your spare tire and getting it out from under the vehicle (yes, it's a PITA), you have PLENTY of room to work under the vehicle without jacking it up. You also gain PLENTY of room to see what you're doing and for routing the harness. This harness is far longer than the Tekonsha, so your options for mounting the interface are enhanced.
A BIG THANK YOU to CSR Leeza, who took care of an error that I made immediately and shipped me the correct part, which arrived a day earlier than expected. Etrailer's CS team is first-rate!!
I adapted this to wire into my Range Rover, certainly beats spending $250+ on a factory set up. Pretty happy with the product._
I haven't put this on yet but it looks like it is well made and the back of the plug is well sealed and the best part is you just plug it into the factory wiring harness plugs.
This plug-and-play part worked great. The plugs on the 2007 Toyota 4-Runner fit right in and the new plugs even fit the factory clips that mounted to the SUV frame. This aftermarket part married up perfectly with Toyota parts!
Easy plug and play. Exactly as advertis ed.
Excellent service and quality
Would order from you again
Exactly as advertised
This fit my 2009 4Runner perfectly. My 4Runner did not come with a hitch installed, but did have all the wiring. Once the new hitch was installed, the existing wiring was directly behind the new hitch. So, the wiring needed to moved to make it accessible. This did the trick along with item # 18157. I love the fact that I did not have to splice any wires, etc., as this plugged directly into the existing two plugs. If you have existing factory wiring and you need to move your 7 way, this is exactly what you need!!!

After a year, still working as it should. Again, highly recommend if you need to move your 7 way plug.
This part saved me hours of hassle and hundreds of dollars. The factory trailer plug-in receptacle on my 07 4Runner went bad. Dealership wanted $300 bucks for OEM part. eTrailer's custom part, with plugs that perfectly matched the car's, is an absolute find. Thank you!

Still working great, and Im still thankful for the money and hassle saved by this product. Awesome! Thanks for checking.
Well made socket and harness. The plugs are an exact fit fit for the factory Toyota harness on my 2008 4Runner. The price is right too! Toyota wants $192 for their 7-way trailer connector and harness.

Still perfect a year on.
This item worked like a charm for my Lexus GX470. It was easy for my to install with simple tools, since the connection points on the GX470 are near the rear bumper. I highly recommend this product and etrailer.com as a company to do business with.
Installation was pretty easy, but the 7 pin did not work. 4 pin worked for 2 years until I bottom pin broke off. Seems to be poorly manufactured/very brittle.
Worked well on my 2007 4Runner Sport. The electrical was plug and play. Was able to use existing mounting by drilling two new mounting holes. Very satisfied.

A year later this is still working great. Highly recommend.
The wiring harness does not fit the 2008 4Runner OE mounting bracket!
Installed and used maybe 6 times, used protective cover every time. 4 way connector melted 5 months later, only warrantied for 3 months. Very disappointing.

If the 4-pole portion of the trailer connector melted, this would typically be caused by a short circuit in the lighting circuits on the trailer. I spoke with the Tech Department at Hopkins, who agrees. Id recommend closely examining the lighting circuits on the trailer, beginning at the trailer connector, working your way rearward to each lamp. Look for pinched wires, loose connections or cracked or worn wire insulation. Once you locate the short, repair that section of wire and you should be okay going forward. Ill link you to a trailer wiring troubleshooting article that you might find helpful as well.

I purchased this item to replace the OEM trailer receptacle on my 2003 Toyota 4Runner. The new outlet was an exact replacement and it also added an additional 4 pole connector. No need for the adapter that I was using. Price was reasonable and shipping was fast. I will continue to order from etrailer.
Still works as intended but had to be mounted to the bumper as holes did not match original bracket.

The ground pin on the 4-flat connection broke off. I had to get a adapter to use the five pin connection.
Ordered a replacement trailer light wiring harness for a 2005 Lexus GX 470 factory tow package. Arrived in 3 business days. Replacement worked perfectly. Just unplugged the existing wiring harness tucked up by the spare tire and plugged in the new one. Harness was long enough to work with and is a nice sealed unit. 4 stars because the mounting holes do not line up with the existing bracket. There is a bracket included, however disassembling a rusted bracket under the vehicle was not my first choice. Ended up drilling out new holes in the old bracket to mount the assembly.
Our wiring harness for our Lexus GX 470 fits our trailer electric connection securely has worked EXCELLENTLY every time we've used it. It's long enough to make the pre-fit connection back by the rear axle! Looks great too!
Product works great however it didn't line up exactly with the factory mounting bracket on my 2006 4Runner as described. Very pleased with the functionality and simplicity of the plug and play on the wiring harness, and the only reason for giving it 4 stars was that I had to slightly modify the bracket to make the bolt holes lines up exactly with the Toyota mounting plate.
I have a 2006 4Runner with the factory installed V8 hitch and wiring harness.
Fantastic replacement for the stock harness that did not include the 4-flat. Works great. High quality execution. I had to fabricate a mount for it for my custom steel bumper and it handles the mud and the elements well. Mine is tucked away so it's not susceptible to direct hits but it has held up well to the abuse of rock crawling.
I needed to replace the trailer wiring receptacle on my Lexus GX470 and I was pleased to find this one. Since it has connectors I didn't have to lie under the car splicing wires. Another benefit was that the wire harness was longer than stock so I was able to install it in a more convenient location on the bumper.
I purchased this for my '08 Toyota 4Runner. The product seems well built, it plugged in fine to the original plugs on the vehicle and it functions properly. However, it did not fit on the tow bar bracket. It was too small and the holes didn't line up. I used a bit of "Red-Neck Engineering" and attached it to the tow bar using black zip ties. It is secure and looks fine - but I had to buy the zip ties and spend extra time on it.
It's great nobody else sold it for my 08 4Runner e trailer has it no wire cutting snap together and it work ordered 3 others from 3 different auto parts stores they had to cross match it and all 3 got returned I was not happy at all I will be shopping a lot more at e trailer love it
it was a easy install to replace 7/4 pin connector on my 2008 Toyota 4runner OEM tow package. I did have to drill a hole on my Reese hitch bracket to mount the included bracket with this connector. Quite satisfied with email notices of etrailer about order,shippment,arrival(1 day early!) This is the only site I will buy my trailer parts! Thanks

worked well but sold the vehicle for unrelated reason
