Question:
Hello, I had a question about the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package - 7-Way and 4-Flat Connectors for my 2007 Lexus GX 470. I was wondering if the plug behind the housing detached like your other product does on your ‘CUSTOM FIT VEHICLE WIRING?’

Expert Reply:
The Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package part # HM43374 which is a fit for a 2007 Lexus GX 470 with tow package features a one-piece molded connector and harness. The trailer connector is non-removable like some other options you'll see. That said, it features both 4 and 7-way connections and it has its own mounting bracket so there should really be no need to replace this. Simply locate the two plugs that the harness will use at the back of the vehicle under the bumper and then mount the trailer connector using the included bracket and you're done.
Please note, if the vehicle doesn't have the factory tow package you will need to hardwire a wiring harness into the system like the Hopkins Active Tail Light Converter with Install Kit part # 46255 which could be converted to the Adapter 4-Pole to 7-Pole and 4-Pole part # 37185 if needed.
