The parts needed to tow a trailer with a 2003 Toyota 4Runner will vary based on options such as whether or not you have the factory tow package which would have came with a factory 7-way at the rear. I have attached a list of each option below but chances are you don't have the factory tow package.
With Tow Package:
Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness part # HM43374
Hopkins Agility Trailer Brake Controller part # HM47294
Hopkins Plug-in Simple Brake Wiring Adapter part # HM47815 or Toyota Universal Brake Control Connector Adapter part 47805
Without Tow Package:
Hopkins Tail Light Converter Kit part # HM48925
Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller part # ETBC7
Hopkins Agility Trailer Brake Controller part # HM47295
Please note, the Hopkins Plug-in Simple Brake Wiring Adapter and Toyota Universal Brake Control Connector Adapter are only options if you have the factory tow package. They would plug into a connector under the driver dash (if present) which you can see in the attached install video.
