Video Transcript for Curt Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring - Trailer Hitch Wiring - C56110 Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at part number C56110, this is your replacement OEM wiring harness. This product is going to fit certain years of the Ford F150 and the E series vehicles. It's going to supply your 4 way flat plug at the back of the vehicle. Now, this is designed to be an exact replacement for a damaged, or needing to replace OEM wiring harness. Here on the 4 way flat, it's going to come with the protective cap, that way you can protect your connection points when the connector is not being used. Just goes over that area there, and then comes over the connectors.

It's also going to come with your detailed instructions, it's going to come with your cable ties to secure any excess or lose wires that you may have, and it's going to come with self taping screw to make a good ground connection right here with the ring terminal, and white wire. Very easy installation, you do not have to worry about cutting or splicing any of your wires. All you have to do is locate the OEM trailer wiring harness connector on top of the spare tire support, it's usually located on the driver side, it favors the driver side. You're going to insert the new connector. The connector should match up perfectly, make sure it's fully inserted, it's going to lock and secure into place for a nice, tight, secure connection. Then you're going to need to make a good ground connection using an existing screw with the nut, or you can use the supplied self taping screw.

Place that right here through the ring terminal that's attached to our white wire, which is our ground wire. Once you have that connected you can then route the 4 way back to the rear of the vehicle, and then you can secure it in a convenient, out of the way location, near the hitch. Again, detailed instructions, these are going to have pictures that are going to help you through the installation process, very detailed. Once you have that done you can go ahead and use some of the cable ties to secure the wiring, keeping it up and out of the way. That's going to do it for today's look at part number C56110.

I can not be happier with the service and product. I received the Draw Tite Class III trailer hitch on time as expected. From start to finish and by myself, it took me exactly 15 minutes to install. I did not need to lower spare tire and it looks clean and neat on the truck. It took me longer to open the cardboard box. Thank you for your great service and follow up and I will highly recommend you in the future. 448386

2012 Ford F-150

This harness for my Ford F-150 was a perfect fit. When I bought my truck it had a hitch but no light harness and everywhere local wanted $50+ dollars. This was an excellent price and so easy to install. Took me a few minutes. All you need is a power screw driver to screw the ground wire down and plug in the harness and that’s it. Definitely recommend this to anyone! 585997

Do you have a question about this Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring?

  • Wiring Harness for 2016 Ford F-150 Without Tow Package
  • To help you determine which wiring harness will work on your 2016 Ford F-150 you can look for the connector that's under the truck's bumper. If the connector is round and looks like it will match up with picture # 1 that I've attached then you can use # 74682 and plug it right in to give you both a 7-way and 4-way trailer connector. If you find a connector that is more rectangular like in picture # 2 then you can use # C56110 which will give you a 4-way connector. If this is the...

  • 4-Pole Wiring for 2018 Ford F-150
  • We have 4-pole wiring harnesses for the 2018 Ford F-150 such as Curt # C56110 which is a direct OEM replacement. This item and the similar Hopkins part # HM11140735 plugs in at the rear of the truck with a rectangular plug. Please refer to the linked photo. If instead your truck has a round U.S Car type connector you can use Curt # C55774 which includes both 4-pole and 7-way type connectors on one product.

  • Recommended Best Trailer Hitch Receiver Option For 2015 Ford F-150 XLT
  • For your 2015 Ford F-150 XLT, I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class IV - 2" # C14016. This will give you a 2 inch receiver for the most variety of accessories and choices for ball mounts. It has an extremely strong rating of 1000 lbs tongue weight and 10,000 lbs towing, which will exceed your vehicle capacity. You will be limited by the capacities listed in your owners manual and not by the parts attached. For your vehicle wiring, your truck either came...

  • How to Install a Brake Controller on a 2017 Ford F-150
  • Assuming you already have a trailer hitch like the Curt # C14017 and a 4-Way like the Curt # C56110 installed on your 2017 Ford F-150 you just need the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7 to use a brake controller. This kit includes an adapter that plugs into an existing 4-Way connector and provides you with both a 7-Way and a 4-Way connector making it easy to switch between towing applications. Everything needed to fully activate your 7-Way for the brakes and a charge line for the battery...

  • The Curt Replacement OEM Wiring Harness for Ford F-150 # C56110 is the correct fit for your 2017 F-150. The OEM wiring your need to connect to is on top of the spare tire support on the driver's side. You will need to remove a cover since there wasn't already a 4-way installed.

You will need to start with a 4-way (if you do not have one). For that you would want the # 18252. From there you would need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install the brake controller. For that you will want the Brake Controller Install Kit and 7-Way Adapter part # ETBC7. I attached installation instructions...

If you do not have the round connector and instead have the rectangular connector, then you will need the Replacement OEM Wiring Harness for Ford F-150 # C56110 to give you a 4-way and then add the 7-way wiring kit for brake controller # ETBC7 and connect the brake wire to the blue wire...

  • Best Way to Convert 4-Pole Trailer Connector on 2014 Ford F-150 to a 7-Way Type
  • I do have a solution for you to convert your factory 4-pole trailer connector to a 7-way RV-style type on your 2014 Ford F-150 but there is no plug-in harness that will connect where the 4-pole does. Instead you'll use our kit # ETBC7 which includes the 7-way socket, wiring, connectors, circuit breakers - everything you need to adapt the 4-pole to a 7-way with its additional circuits for brake power, 12V trailer power and reverse light signals. Just for reference, the linked photo shows...

Now if your trailer does not have brakes all you would need is the part # 37185 as an adapter to convert the 4-way to a 7-way. If you do have trailer brakes you would need the # ETBC7 instead of the # 37185 and a brake controller. This kit comes with everything needed to wire up the 7-way and install a brake controller. The parts necessary to provide a 7-way for your F150 would depend on how it was equipped when it left the factory. If your F-150 has the factory round plug located along the drivers side frame rail behind the back bumper, you would use part # 74682. This would be a good choice and it happens to be the most popular Class III trailer hitch for customers with your F-150. This hitch also has a 6,000 lbs. towing capacity so it will work for your boat and trailer. This will allow the 4 way to plug into the adapter then you will need to run a few more wires to to gain the other functions of the 7way. By the way, thanks for the picture.
