Features to know about

Full Bed Space When You’re Not Towing: Underbed Mounting Keeps the Truck Clean

This custom underbed kit keeps your truck bed open and usable when the hitch isn’t installed. The hitch ball and safety-chain loops sit flush with the bed, so nothing sticks up or gets in the way. When it’s time to tow again, just drop the 2-5/16" ball back into the 4" hole and lock it in with the handle. No welding is needed, and you still get a strong, secure setup using Grade 8 hardware.

Tows Fifth Wheel or Gooseneck Trailers: Dual-Purpose Design Adds Flexibility

The same setup that mounts your Demco Recon 5th-wheel hitch also works as a heavy-duty Curt Double Lock gooseneck hitch. You can switch between a fifth wheel and a gooseneck trailer without extra brackets or drilling. The double-pin locking system holds the ball tight for solid, confident towing, and when you remove the hitch, you’ve got full bed access again.

Built for Heavy Loads and Long-Term Use: Strong, Corrosion-Resistant Steel

Rated for up to 30,000 lbs gross towing weight and 7,500 lbs tongue weight, this setup is built for serious hauling. The black powder-coated steel resists rust and wear, while the dual locking pins add an extra layer of security when you’re towing. It’s a tough, low-profile solution that keeps your truck ready for work or travel.

Video Transcript for Review of Curt Fifth Wheel Installation Kit - Custom - C607-649-5W

Today we're going to take a look at the custom, underbed installation kit for the Demco Recon Fifth Wheel trailer hitch. Now, this is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2015 and newer Ford F150 trucks. And on a custom fit part like this, I always like to recommend for you to go to our website, use the fit guide, put in your year and model vehicle and it will show you if this will work for your application. Now, basically, this kit will let you install your Demco Recon Fifth Wheel trailer hitch in your truck bed, and allow you to tow a fifth-wheel trailer. That part number is DM8550045-5W and we do sell that separately on our website. This does offer a double-lock system, so it does provide added security, 'cause it will use two pin that will hold the hitch in place instead of just one. Now, the underbed design of this kit provides a full truck bed access when you're not towing.

All these parts here will be underneath your truck bed. The ball hole in the center of the bed is the mounting point for your hitch to drop into. The safety chain attachment points right here, they'll stay flush in the truck bed. Now, this also can double as a heavy-duty Curt double lock gooseneck trailer hitch. It does include all the rails, gooseneck hitch head, safety chain loops, and even a gooseneck hitch ball, if you decide to use it also as a gooseneck trailer hitch. The chrome-plated hitch ball will easily remove when you're not towing for complete access to your truck bed, and you can store the hitch ball in the hitch.

Basically, if you just pull open the handle and then twist it, that will hold it in the open position. So to store the ball, you can just drop it into the hole, release the handle, and then it stored just like that. And then it does include this rubber cover that you can put on over there to keep any grime from getting in there, and then gives you the full truck bed access. Now, in the locking mechanism itself, it does offer zinc plating, provides superior corrosion resistance. A handle right here, it's a nice comfort grip handle, has a rubber cover on the end here, and you can position this on either side of the truck bed. Here we have it installed on the driver's side wheel well.

You can put it over here if you want to access it from the passenger's side.We mentioned the rubber cover, which will keep grime out of the ball hole when the hitch is not install or the pitch ball is being stowed. These parts are all nice black powder-coated steel, which is very durable and corrosion resistant. Also, one part it does . Let me show you here, it includes. This is important because you peel this off and then when you go to install this, when you go to install this up to the underside of your truck bed, you want to put this film, it's a polyurethane isolator film that will stick on here so that when you do bolt it up against the ...

The Ford has an aluminum truck bed. So when you do bolt this steel hitch up against that aluminum truck bed, this film that you install will prevent any galvanic corrosion between the two. So you just install that, peel this off, stick it on to there before you install it up to the truck bed. That's all included. Now it does install with all the included grade A hardware. When you go to install this, it does require a four-inch hole that's drilled into the truck bed. And then four half-inch holes for the safety chain U-bolts to come through. No welding is required to install this. The ball size . Let's take the ball out. Pull the handle, twist it to open position. The ball that's included is your standard gooseneck ball diameter of two and five-sixteenths inches. Gross towing weight capacity on this kit is 30,000 pounds. Gross tongue-weight capacity is 7,500 pounds. But that should do it for the review on the custom underbed installation kit for the Demco Recon Fifth Wheel trailer hitch.
