When you’re setting up for serious miles behind the motorhome, a solid connection point makes all the difference. This Demco Classic Base Plate Kit uses fixed draw bars that bolt directly to the chassis for a sturdy, dependable link between your tow bar and vehicle. The steel construction spreads towing force evenly to minimize stress on the suspension, keeping things steady through long trips. With a bracket spacing of 22-1/4" (center to center) and a bracket height of 14-3/4", it’s dimensioned for balanced performance on the road.
You get a clean look up front thanks to the hidden reinforcement design—no external crossbar or large brackets sticking out. Only the base plate tabs are visible, so your bumper stays uncluttered when you’re not towing. Snap-on tab covers made from high-density polyethylene keep dirt and debris out of the base plate tabs and double as soft shin guards if you bump into them while walking by.
This kit is designed for straightforward installation at home or in the shop. It bolts securely to the chassis with no welding required, using included hardware and detailed instructions. Once installed, it’s a permanent setup that’s ready whenever you need to hitch up again—no extra fabrication or specialty tools required.
Already have a tow bar setup? This base plate works with all Demco tow bars right out of the box. If you’re running another manufacturer’s system, Demco adapters are available so you can keep your current gear without replacing everything. An included electrical bracket makes it easy to mount a round connector plug so your wiring stays organized and accessible each time you hook up.

After a year, baseplate works great. Changed tow bar to a non-ball type. No baseplate connection issues.

Hi Don. Per Demco, the # DM9518010 is a fit for the 1998 Jeep Cherokee, unless it has the front skid plate removed or if it's equipped with the up-country suspension or Tow hook pkg.

After a year everything works as it should. I did loose one of the plastic covers because they dont fit good and snug. On a side note, my MH broke down on the expressway and I was able to use the toad to push my MH off the expressway to a safe place. Not sure if any else has done this but it truly was a life saver!
