Installation

This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side interior trim panel in your rear cargo area. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, insert the included 10-amp fuse into the integrated fuse holder. Then install the 30-amp cartridge fuse and two 7.5-amp mini fuses in the rear fuse panel.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plug on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Powered Tail Light Converter with Surface-Mount Technology

A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a circuit-protected, battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.

Curt SMT Circuit Boards

Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.

Each Curt circuit board is made using high-quality components that are pieced together in the most technologically savvy fashion, leading to greater predictability and reliability in functioning.

It all fit my 2025 Odyssey but the 4plug connector to the trailer barely came out the underside of the van. I will have to extend it or extend the trailer harness

by:

Nice that vehicle manufacturers pre-install the wiring for add on trailer wiring harnesses. Nice simple installation, didn't even need to get under the van.

by:

Super quick shipping and insulation videos matched my vehicles insulation exactly. Worked as described

by:

Easy to install from directions or E-trailer video, no issues with function.

I rec’d email from Carol C at Etrailer at 7:01pm devising my order had been delivered and a link to this survey. I responded at 7:02 I had not rec’d my order.I did not expect a response. At 7:18 I rec’d another email advising they had called UPS and the order was left by the shed at the road. I found the box there. This is Customer Service at it’s finest? My second order from etrailer, and won’t be my last!

Total installation was about 3o minutes and works perfectly. Great instructions made it quite simple. Far cheaper than having it done. Recommend getting a traier test light plug.

Product is still working fine. Would recommend to any one.

by:

Installed myself in about 15 minutes, connects to rear fuse panel in driver side rear cargo compartment of 2019 Honda Odyssey. There is enough room to fold it up and stow it behind the fuse panel door, out of sight until it's needed. I don't use a trailer very often, but as cheap as this kit is, having the ability to connect a trailer and its lights was a no-brainer.

by:

Great price - easy to install- only wish the cable was longer to run outside the car. Fortunately there are extension cables available.

I know I wished the cable was longer before, instead its perfect. Use the extension cable and you never have to worry about your primary cable being destroyed for any reason. Like when your spouse crushes it with luggage in the trunk.

by:
2018 Honda Odyssey

Install was easy. It was basically plug and play except for attaching the ground. I keep the trailer wire hidden behind the rear fuse box access panel and bring it out when I need to hook up the trailer. It is no problem closing the hatch on the wire as long as you keep it away from the latch. Everything works fine with the trailer lights.

by:

This wiring harness was easy to install and works perfectly. I've seen alternatives which require feeding wires all the way from the engine bay, and that is totally nuts. Don't waste your time and energy. This installs from the rear corner, right where you're already working on the hitch install. Choose this item -- it's perfect.

by:
2019 Honda Odyssey

I ordered many etrailer products for my previous 2008 Honda Odyssey. It performed perfectly. So, I just placed an order again for 2019 Honda Odyssey.

by:
2018 Honda Odyssey

Exactly what I needed for my 2018 Honda Odyssey. Came on time with straightforward instructions and has seen dozens of long trips without any issues.

by:

I'm quite happy with the Curt wiring kit. It took me about 25 minutes to install and didn't have too many pieces to hook up. You also don't need to splice wires or run a wire up to the battery. The van already came setup to plug the cord in and use it. I have the vacuum cleaner in my van and that made it a little tighter to work, but it still worked out great. I tested it out on the trailer and everything worked perfectly.

by:

Easy to install system as shown in recommended installation video. I used it to haul a 6x12 trailer I rented from a U-Haul. Haven’t tucked the wiring and harness away to look professional yet.

by:
2018 Honda Odyssey

This wiring harness was easy to install, if you follow the video.

Works as expected.

Thought the wire to the trailer was a little short, but when installed it was at the correct length.

by:

Plug and play, excellent instructions, no problems with the install at all.

If you want a more permanent install, there is a punch out that you can use to run the wiring through. The connector was a tight squeeze, but the result is permanent and no need to play games with the wiring.

by:

Very easy to install- all necessary hardware present includes fuses. Turn key fit and function. Highly recommend for ease of install. Reliability- we will see about.

The wire harness failed even with all new lights on the trailer. No blown fuses - the encapsulated IC failed. Went to Honda for OEM harness- highly recommend that one. Very nice quality.

Overall quite good. Ground connection was too short to reach suggested bolt and wire to trailer connector should have been 6" longer. Works as promised.

Wow is all I can say! Several friends recommended etrailer.com and I will happily do the same. I ordered the products, I recived a confirmation email (from a human) that it was packed up and shipped to me. It arrived error free and packaged well. I logged in and instruction videos that were just what I ordered (no searching for what I needed) were spot on and easy to follow. I am beyond impressed from start to finish
and the best part is its on and we are towing! A big thank you to the etrailer.com people that put this together for me!

by:

It would be nice if the portion of the harness that connects to the trailer lights was 6 inches longer. Also, not sure how well the tape to hold the electronics box will hold up.

by:
2020 Honda Odyssey

Instructions were not good, but U-Haul had a great youtube video. Also, you should include that you have to buy to hold wires to trailer hitch. But worked good.

You'll need to look for a grommet or hole in the floor of the rear cargo area of your vehicle to permanently mount the connector underneath it. First, the Tekonsha harness does feature a higher amp rating (max 5 amps for stop/turn circuits and 7.5 amps for tail lights compared to 3 amps and 6 amps respectively on the Curt), which just offers a stronger system that's able to take a bit more power.
