Wiring for trailer lights doesn’t have to be complicated. The Curt T-Connector plugs directly into the vehicle’s tail light connectors, so there’s no need to cut or splice factory wires. It’s a clean, plug-and-play design that gets you towing faster and keeps the original wiring intact.
Some vehicles can’t handle extra load on the tail light circuit. This harness uses a powered converter that draws power directly from the battery through a hot lead, protecting sensitive electronics and ensuring consistent trailer lighting. It’s built to deliver a reliable signal to your trailer even when factory circuits are limited.
Instead of exposing the 4-flat connector under the vehicle, you can store it inside the hatch when not in use. That keeps the contacts clean and dry, away from road spray and debris that cause corrosion or damage. When it’s time to tow, just pull it out through the hatch and close the door on it—the weatherstrip seals around the wire without pinching.
Running the power wire is easy with this setup. The quickest route is along the underside of the vehicle using zip ties for support, but you can also go through existing grommets if you prefer a cleaner look. Either way, it’s an approachable DIY job that most people can finish in an afternoon with basic tools and a circuit tester like # PTW2993.
Once installed, the 4-flat connector provides all the basics—running lights, turn signals, and brake lights—for most small and midsize trailers. It’s a standard connection that works with common trailer plug setups or adapters if you ever step up to a 7-way later on.

I wanted to see if I could help trouble shoot and I have a few questions that I wanted to ask. When the harness was installed did you run the power wire to the battery? Have you tested the 4 way with a circuit tester to see if the signals are reaching the 4 way? Please see the FAQ that we have below. It is very helpful in helping to identify the issue or determine if a new harness is needed.

You have to install the wiring harness exactly where the directions say to put the wires or there will not be enough. It shouldnt be loose around moving parts.
