After 1 year of having this hitch on my truck I can sat that I really like it. It works well for carrying bicycles on the front of the truck while hauling a fifth wheel camper. I have also used it with a hitch hauler to carry my generator.

by:

I purchased the hitch to pull a small 4x8 trailer for hauling lumber. Everything arrived on time and in good condition. The only difficulty I had installing it was with the muffler getting in the way and pushing a couple of holes out of alignment, but installation went smoothly after I got the muffler to stay out of the way. It has been very reliable over the past year and I have not had any problems with it.

i wanted a light duty hitch for our Focus Hatchback so we could mount a bike rack. I chose the Curt 11294 carried by etrailers. The hitch came quickly and was obviously very well made. The Instructions seemed direct and self explanatory. All the parts were in the box INCLUDING the fishing tool needed to snake through a frame carriage bolt. The 30 minute install time took us 2 hours. Some of that was my fault using a spacer where I didn't need one. Another delay was us having to redo the hitch bolts so we could mount the driver's side first, because the rear silencing chamber was in the way. That tip was not in the Instructions. However, the manufacturer Curt including the fishing tool was great because it worked the first time! What I thought would be the hardest part of the job was the easiest. Just make sure you have on hand a sharp 1/2" drill bit and a drill with a chuck large enough to fit it. Sounds obvious - and we did - but our bit was a bit dull.... Still, we got there. All in all, I consider this to be a great product and I highly recommend it. Once mounted, the hitch is quite unobtrusive. And the thick black paint makes it look good.

The quality of the this Curt Hitch is exceptional. Sturdy construction and professional welds makes this a good looking and functional hitch. As you can see by the pictures the installed hitch looks good. Great for towing my bicycles around, and I can add a variety of tow accessories if I need them.

Hitch fit right, installation directions spot on, shipping was fast and easy, now my son can put his $7,000 mountain bike on the back of his $700 car!

by:
2005 Ford Focus

As always I received a quality hitch. Shipped fast and packed very well. Took twenty minutes to install. Can't wait to use it to carry my mobility chair. Thanks

2007 Ford Focus

Should do the trick. I plan to use this for a bike carrier and pull a small trailer, if I ever buy one. Installation probably took 40 minutes by myself, including gathering tools. Would’ve been about 15 with an assistant and my tools more accessible. Installing this with the vehicle on the ground while doable will make it difficult to torque the bolts. I used blue locktite as good measure for keeping the bolts from backing off. Video really helped with showing how to get the bolt through the frame on the passenger side.

by:
2006 Ford Focus

Shipping was fast! Great quality, very easy half HR install. Fit perfect except for the hole where the bolt drops down. Used a drill to reem it out a hair and boom done!! Plan on putting a cargo rack on for hunting, should work great. Instructions were a little confusing but YouTube took care of that lil prob. Thanks!!

2014 Ford Focus

This is the second hitch from etrailer that I have purchased and installed. First was for a 2014 Smart ED that was a breeze to install. The second one was for a 2004 Ford Focus LX and it took less than 30 min to install. Happy with both the quality and fit of both hitches.

Comments
I have enjoyed the hitch. It is solid and works very well.

Happy to report that etrailer fixed the rattle after I installed the Curt hitch for my Ford Focus. I wanted the Curt hitch because the end collar looks cleaner, with the plate on the bottom of the hitch, instead of on top. After I installed it by myself, with some helping with drilling the single hole, it had an annoying rattle. I discovered that the muffler was hitting the hitch. I just took it in to etrailer (Wentzville) and it took them five or ten minutes to fix the rattle. They were very professional and courteous about the entire problem, and charged me nothing for the service. It's a big relief not hearing the rattle. All is well now. Thanks etrailer!

2010 Ford Focus

Used on my 2007 focus hatchback. No wiring adapter needed for 3 wire to 2 wire conversion like my last car. Simple to install. Some spacers and 4 bolts 1/2" x 2" to bolt in place on the tow hooks. One hole needed to be drilled 1/2" drill bit required. There is already a hole there that is 1/4" it just needs to be enlarged. This took me about 30 minutes and it took me 10 minutes to find the drill battery. Wiring took an additional 30 minutes. I tested the hitch and lights on my 4x8 trailer. Only con is the euro hitch is no longer one piece. The shaft is pinned to the ball and wiggled just a bit. My previous euro hitch was entirely one piece. This makes the hitch assembly more noisy.

Great install video, easy to install.
Fit
perfect.

2003 Ford Focus

I don't generally do reviews. However, everything was so simple I didn't see how I couldn't! The timeline from order to delivery was accurate. Hitch arrived in a box! Most don't understand that is a HUGE bonus. I worked for UPS years ago most hitches I saw come through got a label and off they went. Installation was a breeze. Instructions were clear, for my car no holes to drill. I had this installed under 30 minutes! The process could not have been any easier!!

by:

Installation of the hitch went perfect (with minor adjustments). Trailer wiring went just as smooth. However, an end clip and self tapping screw supplied by the company would have been nice. I haven't used the hitch or wiring as of yet. Will write another review once used.

2005 Ford Focus

I bought this hitch for a 2005 Ford Focus Sedan "SE". The instructions say it won't work on the SE model, every brand says that, so I bought it knowing it might not and it fit just fine! I'm sure it was for the other SE versions with more ground effects(?). The hitch was easy to install. It took me just 30 mins from the time I walked outside until I was testing the lights on a trailer. Everything was just perfect Great price and quick shipment

I've used Curt trailer hitches on a few different vehicles now and they have never failed me. This one has been no exception. Total flawless since day of install.

Great Product!
I was skeptical at first
looking at the directions, thinking there's no way this is going to work... much to my surprise & delight, no more than a half hour later I had a well fitting sturdy hitch on my vehicle!
Well made & highly recommend.

Otherwise

  • Is Drilling Required to Install Curt C11294 Class I Hitch on 2005 Ford Focus ZX4
The Curt # C11294 Class I hitch is a fit for Sedan and Hatchback models of the 2005 Ford Focus, unless it's an SVT model. Drilling is not required for the Sedan models, but for hatchback models you will need to drill one 1/2 inch diameter hole in the passenger side frame rail.

  • Can 3 Spacers be Used for Curt 11294 Hitch Install on 2007 Ford Focus
Thank you for the photos of the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11294 install on your 2007 Ford Focus. While it does look like you have the hitch in the correct position, I do have a few things for you to check. The first few being that your hitch is lined up correctly, and that the hitch mounting brackets didn't get bent during shipping (which happens often enough that I've attached our help article on this). The reason those questions are the first to look into is because you not only...

  • Solution for Hitch that Rattles Against Trailer Hitch After Install
Hitch rattle sometimes occurs after a hitch install as the exhaust ends up routed to close to the hitch and since exhaust has quite a bit of movement it can end up hitting it. What I would recommend you try is finding the exhaust hangers that the isolators mount on and bend them away from the hitch a bit so that you get a little more clearance.

  • Hitch Recommendation for a 2007 Ford Focus S Sedan
For a great tow hitch for your 2007 Ford Focus S, I recommend the Curt Hitch - 1-1/4" # C11294. Not only does this hitch include a super easy installation process that only takes about 30 minutes to complete, it also comes with a higher-quality gloss outer coating over the base powder coat that provides better resistance against rust than the competitor Draw-Tite option. With this factor, you do not need to worry about deterioration. It comes with all mounting hardware required for a bolt-on...

The Curt 20x48 Cargo Carrier # C18145 that you referenced would be the lightest weight cargo carrier available for the Curt Hitch # 11294 that you referenced and would allow you to dedicate the most of your tongue weight to actual cargo capacity. I attached installation instructions for you to check out also.

Your 2006 Ford Focus ZX5 SES does not have a hitch that is rated past 200 lbs tongue weight or class 1 with the 1-1/4 inch receiver based on the way the vehicle is made and its capacities. My recommendation is the 19x47 Curt Cargo Carrier # C18110 which weighs 30 lbs. I have a great solution for you. Unfortunately, the Yakima HoldUp Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" Hitches # Y02445 does not have a long enough ratcheting arm to allow you to attach your KBO e-bike to the frame tubes. With that being said, here at etrailer, we do not recommend using a wheel-mounted attachment style with bikes that have fenders. The reason why we discourage this is because the ratcheting arm could shift during transport and potentially crack or damage the fenders. However,...
