I need to know if can splice into the brake switch cold side.

To install the Tekonsha Voyager Brake Controller part # 39510 in your 2014 Ford Escape you will need to splice into the cold side of the brake switch with the red wire of the controller. I attached a video that shows a brake controller being installed on a very similar Ford Escape as your 2014 model.
In case you aren't sure what parts you would need you also would need a 4-way to start. For that you would want the # C56335. Now to convert that to a 7-way and install the brake controller you will need the part # ETBC7. I attached install instructions for these products for you to check out also.
