Video Transcript for Review of the UWS Angled Truck Bed Toolbox

Hey everyone. It's Evangeline. And today we're gonna be taking a look at our UWS Crossover Tool Boxes. So these are going to be angled for extra clearance on the side. Plus, they are low profile so they don't take up too much space. We'll take a look at how they work right here at etrailer.

So this is the 6.6 cubic feet toolbox and it fits our Jeep Gladiator. Now you can get this style of a toolbox for your different trucks. They are gonna be shaped a little bit differently to fit better though. So make sure to use our etrailer.com fit guide to find the right fit for you. There's three main points to this toolbox.

It's low profile. It only sits two inches above your truck bed. It's angled, so even if you have Molle panels installed on your truck bed like this, perfectly fine. And there's still space underneath. So even if you have a truck bed mat but you still wanna carry around longer items like lumber, you can still passively do so.

Now the toolboxes are made of aluminum but you have different options when it comes to the finish. So we have the gloss black here. We can also have other color options like bright aluminum, or a matte black, depending on your truck fit too. So there is a similar toolbox to this. That's also angled but has a deeper angle.

So downside to this shallow angle is that you don't have as much cargo space. The pros are, you still have access to this side if you need to use the side for your tie down points. Now, so those deep angles will give you more cargo space but you might lose this function. Now the tool box sits two inches above your truck bed but the lid is gonna add another inch to that. So like here, it sits three inches above our truck bed. And when you open that up, get that low profile look. Notice how I pop that lid open like that Well, that's also some cool features there where we'll talk about that in a second. But first, let's see if we can lock and unlock it. So on the driver's side only, there's that lock core. You get two keys to secure it. With it in the locked position, you won't be able to open up the latch. With it in the unlocked position, whether you access it on a passenger side or the driver's side only, open up that latch and the lid pops open. So there's heavy duty gas cylinders. That way, as the lid opens, you can let go. Might scare you a little bit but I promise there's clearance there. And then on top you have the latch. That latch is actually adjustable. So if over time, you find you need to make some adjustments up or down, you can do so yourself. There's plenty of clearance between the lid and your cab because your bulk head is there. So when this pops open, it stops in a 90 degree angle, giving you that space. Now your interior dimensions are gonna be a little bit different depending on which toolbox you need for your truck. So I'll show you how this one fits and where to measure. And that way you can see if your cargo can fit too. So there's overall width and that's measured at the top of the angle. So for example, our overall width is gonna be 48 inches. Now, if you have square toes though, you won't be able to put them 48 inches apart. And that's where you take the measurement for the inside. At the bottom of the toolbox, we have 36 inches of space here. So that makes a difference for your square cargo because that's where you can actually set them up. So if you have totes or boxes, things like that, you can see how our cargo space is a little bit limited because of that angle. You also have this sliding organizer for your tools. So if you have your loose bolts, your clamps, your wrenches, your straps, you can put them right here. Slide them back and forth to wherever is more accessible for you. Although, you do lose a little bit of that cargo space because it is here. Now, the bottom of that tray is gonna take up about two and a quarter inches though. So if you have taller cargo, it can actually get in the way. So just remember that when you're organizing your toolbox. Now this lid is actually filled with a patented structural foam. So that is what maintains the insulation but also the strength of that lid. So you wanna make sure that this will hold up to the elements, the wear and tear of drafting tools on it, occasionally sitting on the lid. And that's where that patented foam comes in handy. Since this is made of aluminum, it's really lightweight but also pretty bulky. So that means when you install this into you're a truck bed, I do recommend having a friend help you out so you can lift it into the truck bed safely. It did come with a hardware to secure the toolbox though. So in our case here, it came with a day hook, a split washer, and then a nut. It did not include the wrench to tighten it down, but it was a very easy install. And just like that, we have a strong and sturdy toolbox. Comparing this toolbox with some of the other toolboxes. I really like how low profile this is and how it doesn't interfere and interact with anything. If I had a ladder rack up here, a roof rack, or if I was conscious about my rear window, this would be a great option. The downside to it was the space was a little limited. With that shallow angle, I didn't have as much space as a deep angle Crossover toolbox would've given me. So it really depends on what you're carrying around, how much space you need for your tools and your cargo. But hopefully, this video helped you out with taking those measurements so that you can get the right fit for you. And that right there was a look at our UWS Crossover toolbox that is low profile and angled right here at etrailer.com My name is Evangeline and I hope you enjoy the journey..
