Hitch and Trailer Wiring Recommendation for a 2014 Ford Escape SE
Published 04/20/2015 >
Question:
So, is the design of the 2014 hitch completely different than for the 2013 Escape? The 2013 install shows the exhaust being ped down to install the hitch, the 2014 does not... is that correct? I like the look of the 2013 being way more hidden, but I don't know if the two years are interchangeable. Please explain. Also, using the Curt wiring kit, can the power be accessed in the rear of the car or does the leads have to go up to the battery? Let me know ASAP.

Some hitches have confirmed to fit both the 2013 and 2014 Ford Escapes.
The Curt hitch part # C13186 that you referenced will only fit the 2013 SE, SEL, and Titanium models so I would not recommend it for you.
The Draw-Tite part # 75758 will fit both the 2013 and 2014 models so I would recommend it for you. I attached an install video for you to check out as well. The installation instructions do not recommend lowering the exhaust.
You will have to run the power wire from the Curt Harness part # C56335 all the way up to the battery. This allows the harness to bypass the delicate taillight wiring of your Escape which would prevent damage in the event of a short. I attached a help article that covers this as well.
