This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Powered Tail Light Converter with Surface-Mount Technology

A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a circuit-protected, battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.

Curt SMT Circuit Boards

Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.

Each Curt circuit board is made using high-quality components that are pieced together in the most technologically savvy fashion, leading to greater predictability and reliability in functioning.

Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector - C56329

Average Customer Rating:  4.9 out of 5 stars   (104 Customer Reviews)

Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your vehicle with this custom harness. T-connector plugs directly into existing wiring. Powered converter reduces strain on wiring system and is made using SMT to ensure superior performance.

This harness appears to be of excellent quality, and is the perfect thing needed to set up my vehicle for utility lights the right way. The only reason for four stars is that I have not actually installed it as yet, so have not had opportunity to test it.

Could have used a little extra wire to make it easier to mount the control box near the drivers side tail light but other then that the install was easy. The instructions that come with the wiring kit aren’t the greatest but found a video on YouTube that helped me out a lot.

Harness is of good quality and plugged right in to the factory wiring. Easy to install other than having to run a wire back to the battery to power it. The separate power is nice in that the trailer light circuit is isolated from your vehicle tail lights and turn signals.

this was one of the best companies to deal with. they kept in contact the whole time. they made sure everything arrived on time. that, to me is priceless... the hitch and harness is great. easy instalation. looks super.. I am extremely happy with the whole process.... top notch everyone....

can't believe it arrived in less than a week! Best price I found online. Fit perfectly and only took 30 min to install. Happy to write a review for future customers since past reviews were what tipped my vote. Thank you etrailer!

2012 Chevrolet Volt

The wiring harness came with everything I needed for the installation. The hardest part of the installation was running the 12 volt power wire from the rear of the car to the engine compartment. I purchased the optional weather-proof connector wit the heat shrink tubing. This ensures a good waterproof connection for the wiring. The only minor complaint that I have is that I don't like the dangling trailer electrical plug-in. It would be nicer if the plug-in could have been mounted to the bottom of the bumper.

This trailer wiring harness has functioned flawlessly and is holding up to frequent use quite well. However, I still think that the connection point for the trailer plug in should have a bracket or clip to firmly attach to the rear bumper of the vehicle.

Product fit description and fit perfectly.Great service from etrailer.

Easy to install hardest part is connecting to Battery main power but that’s no fault of the harness

Great kit, everything worked well

This wiring harness is made for my exact fit for my vehicle. Sales again with the knowledge and expertise made my experience awesom.

2012 Ford Escape

I like the set up and installation
i get wire harness put on will send pics

2010 Ford Escape

This was my second trailer wiring kit for my 2010 Ford Escape. The first one stopped working correctly after about 4 years due to somehow the little module that was mounted with double sided tape behind the tail light came loose and was dangling down where it was exposed to the elements. The second unit was mounted with a screw and worked like a charm. The only minor difficulty is running the power wiring up to the battery in a manner that it is protected and out of the way. Other than that, easy fast installation in one evening. I’ve since traded that vehicle so I can only assume it’s still working.

Works just as it should.

Worked great.

Etrailer customer support is always so helpful

Wiring and hitch easy install fits close to bumper as if it was factory

2012 Ford Escape

Ordered a hitch and wiring for my 2012 escape.wiring was not available.called and talked to Stacey who found another available harness had them both shipped out and received them in 5 days.i had already read on their website how to install them.i have above average installation skills and installed the hitch and wiring in about one and a half hours.very pleased with quality and ease of install.service was also excellent.

Have had no problems hitch and wiring works great very good quality and ease of installation.

Not too electrically inclined, but, with help from a friend, I was able to get it set up. Works great!

Great product. It was super easy to install and functions as intended. Highly recommend if you need to retrofit trailer hitch wiring.

2012 Ford Escape

Great product..easy to install. Only thing is I recommend better double sided tape for the mounting of the converter.

Great kit that worked very well! Some of the connectors were exposed and eventually corroded. This was remedied by cutting the connectors off and soldering the connections. In hindsight, I would recommend doing this initially for any exposed connections. Other than that I have no complaints.

Great service products delivered on time

2012 Ford Escape

Easy connections Great instructions Works like a charm thank you all

Very satisfied with the product. The package arrived a little beat up with a significant gash in the side of the box, but the hitch was undamaged and all parts were intact. The hitch installed easily, everything fit as needed, though why the need for a spaced between the hitch and the frame on the passenger side really doesn't make sense, it looks like a fix for a hitch with incorrect mounting hole locations. And that did make the installation a little more difficult, but manageable. The wiring harness also installed easily, everything needed was there and everything worked as it should. I'm quite satisfied.

it is installed but I have yet to fully test it.

Yes, the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C56329 is compatible with your 2012 Ford Escape whether it has backup sensors or not. I have attached a video of this kit being installed on a similar 2012 Escape for you to check out. • Lamps of Trailer Pulled By 2016 Ford Escape Stay Illuminated With Vehicle and Lights Off
The most likely reason for the trailer wiring harness to put out voltage with the vehicle shut off is a shorted converter box which is caused by a short circuit in the trailer wiring. You can confirm this by removing the 10A fuse in the yellow fuse holder that should be connected to the vehicle's positive battery terminal. If removing the fuse causes that light that remains on to shut off, it confirms that the converter box has a short circuit in it. You'll need to identify the short...

  • Could Testing Trailer Wiring Pins with Circuit Tester Cause Fuse to Blow
The only way the multimeter could have possibly blown the fuse is if one of the probes ended up touching the ground pin and one of the active pins at same time as that would create a short. Otherwise the short is on the trailer wiring which is probably the more likely situation as this is a common problem that takes out the converter boxes. So I'd recommend going over the trailer wiring looking for any cut or exposed wire and fixing as needed.
