Recommended Roller Bunks to Replace 7 Foot Bunks on Boat Trailer

I have a 15.5foot smokercraft alaskan with 7foot bunks. I was wondering if i could replace the bunks with two 5foot roller bunks and have the proper amount of length for weight displacement rather than having to buy two set of 4foot roller bunks and cutting part of them? I am considering buying these because i often launch and retrieve in shallow water without steep ramps.

I spoke with my contact at CE Smith and she stated that 5 foot roller bunks will be adequate for your 15-1/2 foot Smokercraft Alaskan, as long as the space between the cross members are 56 inches or less. If the space is more than that, the 5 foot long bunks will not be enough and you can then obtain two sets of 4 foot bunks and have them cut to size.
For a 5 foot long roller bunk, I recommend the CE Smith Roller Bunks for Boat Trailers # CE27710. This is a channel-style roller bunk that will allow for smooth loading and unloading, especially when launching/receiving in shallow water as you often do. These have a weight capacity of 1,500 pounds and are made of 12 gauge galvanized steel construction. You can mount them to the existing bunk boards on your trailer or use swivel mounting brackets # CE10003G-4 to attach them to the trailer frame.
If you need a higher weight capacity, I recommend the Dutton-Lainson Boat Trailer Deluxe Roller Bunk # DL21741 which has a weight capacity of 3,000 pounds.
If you do find that you need two sets of 4 foot roller bunks, I recommend the CE Smith # CE27700 with a weight capacity of 1,500 pounds.
