Should Entire Wood Bunk be Covered with a Roller Bunk
Updated 09/26/2025 | Published 04/20/2025 >
Question:
I bought the 5 foot bunk rollers for my boat trailer. The bunks are 8 feet. Roll the boat up autumn and broke the bunks. I placed the rollers. I bought in the middle of the bunks. Should I buy another set of rollers? To span the full 8 feet. With new bunks. Any ideas?

Hey Monte, ideally your full bunks would have rollers covering them but it really comes down to how much of the bunk your boat is sitting on. If the front of the bunk isn't getting used since the hull of boats tend to angle up in the front that area wouldn't necessarily have to have rollers but adding a second set of rollers so that the boat is on the roller as much as it would be on the bunks would be most ideal.

Hey Monte, did you decide to add another set of rollers to cover the full 8 feet of your bunks? I'm curious to know how it worked out for you, as it could help others in a similar situation.
