I am glad I found your website in lieu of Saris which was out of stock on this item. Moreover, I had searched other sites and saw what I considered to be replicas of this type of lock. Specifically, the yellow-colored lock which I felt was inviting for anyone who thought about approaching the bike rack. (The lock is right here) Delivery was faster than estimated and the device is as advertised and exactly what I needed.
IT WORKS WONDERFULLY! So glad you guys had this lock for the rack I bought from you guys recently. I would suggest that this item shows as a recommended buy for bike racks for coupe cars like mine.
This design is poor. The steel cable is very thin and it looks like a person with a simple wire cutter could defeat it. Also very concerned that the wire will scratch the paint on my vehicle.
I was also disappointed that I had to pay $16 to return this $50 item. etrailer did cut the return cost in half but I was still not happy with this at all.
I purchased a Thule trunk bike rack lock instead. It looks much more solid with 2 steel cables and they are wrapped in a heaver vinyl coating. Both the Saris and the Thule bike trunk rack locks can be defeated by a determined person but the Thule looks much more secure and may cause someone to think twice before trying to defeat it. Quite frankly, the Saris with the thin single cable actually may invite someone to try cut it.
I did not want to, but I bought the Thule from Amazon because they provide for free return shipping.
I have used etrailer for trailer hitches, bike racks, etc. and have been very happy with them but this is the first time to return something and the cost for me was excessive although they quickly cut it in-half once I complained. I will continue to be a customer because of their customer service and all of the product detail they provide including the videos, installation instructions, reviews and their confirmed fitting for my vehicle. Just not pleased with their return charges.
