Review from a similar UltraGuard in RV Covers

The biggest headache was to locate the front and rear. Unfortunately, had to unfold on the ground to determine and refold to put back up on roof; and at that time, tore a small part of the covering. There were no instructions when it came to the two, long rolled up straps. I did thread one of the straps thru the loops at the bulkhead and tied it down, and the other to the underside of the back of the 5th. Overall, it's a great cover and happy with it.

Outstanding product! I will say etrailer.com also provide heads up service and contacted me about potentially shipping me a cover that they had in stock vs the one I ordered as they wanted to make sure that there was no prolonged delay that I may not want until this one came back into stock. Being proactive is good and I said " I've got time so I can wait." I ordered on 13 Sep 2020 and it shipped on 6 October 2020. A 3 week delay is not the end of the world at all. Great proactive service from etrailer.com and they are my go to for truck towing and my camper needs.

Review from a similar UltraGuard in RV Covers

Of course I must start by saying that etrailer's customer support is second to none. It is always a pleasant experience to order from etrailer.com. I am very pleased with the design and quality of this Camco camper cover. The material seems to be of very good quality. The air vents at the top are a smart design feature which allows air to escape from the cover when the wind blows. The top portion is designed with some overhang that acts as a drip edge which sheds water away from the sides. Very good design! The fasteners seem to be of good quality and there are velcro ties for each of the 4 jacks that support the truck camper. It fits pretty well on the my Lance 915, although I was having a little trouble keeping the front portion on the cab-over from coming off. I ended up adding a couple straps from the front fastener to the 2 front jacks to help keep it in place. As with any cover, the main enemy is wind. It can tear apart a cover under the right circumstances. The trick is to keep it tight enough that it's not flapping in the wind but not too tight such that it puts stress on the friction points. I do wish there were more tie down points at the bottom and under the cab-over. I"m thinking of getting a kit that cuts eyelets and add some more points for tie downs at the bottom edges. The zippers for the door are of good quality. I might consider adding a dowel or something to the bottom of the zippered door opening to make it easier to roll up the door opening. Kind of difficult to get it to roll up reasonably well by yourself. With 2 people, it would roll up nicely. Overall, I don't think I could find a cover that would fit any better without getting a custom made cover, which would cost 2 or 3 times as much. This cover is a very good investment and I would definitely recommend it.

Review from a similar UltraGuard in RV Covers

The best advise I can give is DO YOUR HOME WORK BEFORE YOU BUY, and get the correct cover for your needs! I have read too many reviews from people who bought the wrong cover, i.e. a light weight cover meant for short term storage but use it long term, and then complain it didn't last. We have a V-nose travel trailer and since no one makes covers specifically for them, we had to find what we thought would be the best one for it. We measured down the top of the trailer from tip of the V to the end of the ladder and looked at ones that would fit that measurement. We decided on the Camco UltraGuard cover because of the fact that it was heavy duty and recommended for cold and snowy climates (we live in Michigan). We liked the idea of the many air vents where the sides meet the top, and the numerous tie-down straps with bungee cord ends. We watched a video about the easiest way to put a cover on, since this was all new to us. It recommended laying it out on the ground first and locating the "Front" and "Rear" labels so you knew which end was which before hauling all 38 lbs of it up on the top of the trailer, where it would be more difficult and unsafe to figure out. Also it recommended turning it inside out, with the sides folded up over the top so the sides could be dropped down easily, rather than having to be pulled out from underneath the top, as would have to be done if opened from the way it was folded at the factory. Before installation we followed the enclosed instructions which said to cover any sharp edges and points on the trailer before installing the cover. We cut pieces of swimming noodles to cover the rain gutter ends and the corners of the step frames. We then loosened and lowered the AM/FM antenna and covered it and the folding TV antenna with an old towel. Being heavy duty fabric, the cover was a little eavy to get up on top of the trailer, so we had to use another ladder, not the one attached to the trailer, to get it up there. That was actually the hardest part, but once up, it was easy to adjust in place per the video instructions and drop the sides down. Final adjustment could be made from the ground by pulling carefully on the sides . NOTE: The tie-down straps do not go all the way under the trailer as do many other brands, but have soft-fabric covered aluminum hooks you bend into shape yourself to hook underneath the trailer. We were not sure we liked that arrangement at first, but it seems to work well holding the sides of the cover down and in place. We used the frame of the trailer as much as possible to hook onto rather than just the bottom of the sides. The instructions said not to pull the bungee sections tight but to leave a little spring in them so they have some give when the wind blows the cover. I think the reason is if they were tight with no give, the wind might possibly rip the tie-down from the cover. The back straps used to tighten it work very well, but since our trailer is a V-nose, we had to fudge with the straps on the front to snug it down as tightly as possible, so we added another bungee strap to hold down the excess fabric of the front corners. The whole installation took two of us a little over an hour, but next time should go faster now that we have it figured out. We wondered how well it would all hold, but this past week we had sustained winds of 35-40 MPH with gusts of 55 MPH for over 24 hours, and the cover hardly even moved. All you could see was the sides poofing out slightly and then the air vent flaps would lift and let the excess air out, so the top never ballooned up at all! It also rained very hard and the cover just beaded up the water and it ran off. The main trick is to take your time and get it snugged down with no loose, baggy, flapping areas where the wind can get under it. Now we have no doubt it will also hold up just fine to the cold winter snow and winds here in Michigan!

Review from a similar UltraGuard in RV Covers

Cover arrived and I installed it by myself after work. Cover appears to be made of quality material and fit my fifth wheel very nicely. Plenty of tie downs and straps to hold it securely in place. Plenty of zippered openings so you can access your RV after cover is installed. Since this is my first winter of storage I cannot comment on durability over time, but I feel very confident that my 5'er is protected against the elements. Now I'm looking forward to spring when I can remove the cover and start camping again!

After a year the cover is still repelling all water. I would have given it 5 stars however the tie downs or cover anchors do not last even with a light breeze they tore. I now secure my cover with some after market tie downs I purchased at [local store].

Comments
Im happily surprised that this cover is still working as well as it is. The cover has no sunwater dry rot yet. As I mentioned previously the tie downs provided will not hold however the clamp tie downs I added are still making this cover functional.

The cover has begun to tear in areas that it make contact with hard edges on the trailer. It has lasted a year so far. Hope it will make it through one more year before it disintegates. I like how it secures around the trailer but the material is a bit weak.

The cover fit good, but it ripped. I rated it 3 and not less because most all covers rip in the Arizona sunshine and wind. I'm trying to figure out how to mend the rip as I write this review. If you do not live in Arizona, it's probably a great cover.

Review from a similar UltraGuard in RV Covers

I'm a big fan of etrailer, having purchased many things without disappointment, but would definitely not purchase this cover again. It was a mistake due to the ineffective strapping system. The straps have to link under the edge of camper and attach to the frame, which is quite cumbersome to reach unless you physically get under the camper. My frame is one foot in from the sidewall of the camper. A couple times I blindly attempted to attach the elastic tie down and it popped off the frame and nearly hit me in the eye. This camper cover should be avoided and removed from the market. I'll get a rope to tie around the cover instead of using the dangerous elastic system provided.

Un packed cover and was happy to find a very nice product. Appears to be of high quality and craftmanship. What I really appreciated was etrailer stayed in contact with me as the cover was taking longer than expected to arrive due to pandemic and any other circumstance beyond their control. I have not been able to install cover on the trailer yet due to weather. However, I have shown the cover to some friends and they were impressed with quality as well. I have recommended etrailer to all that have asked where I purchased the cover.

I did everything wrong, didn't read guidelines, put it on the camper at the back, just me and the wind was blowing. After I read the instructions and got the cover going in the right direction it unfollowed easy. There were several spots were there was a chance to tare the cover so I warped and tape them. It's the first time covering the camper so it took a little time but the cover fits and looks good.i'm very happy with how it goes on. The material might seam a little thin but it went on with no damage. For the price if it makes a few years I'll be happy to buy a nouther one.

This is the second cover I purchased. The last one lasted three years. This one has some problems after one year. One of the gussets ripped off. The fabric wore through in several places. Two were my fault, I needed additional padding where the cover went over the rear bumper. However, there were several wear holes on the roof. A top corner ripped. The elastic tie down hooks kept on coming loose, I had to use a rope under the trailer to keep it on.

Really liked the cover when I received it. I was told to put tennis balls on the rain gutters to keep the cover from wearing through at those points, Not only did the cover wear through at the gutter points, it wore through at the rear bumper, all ladder rungs, front corners and nose of the 5th wheel trailer. Thankfully, I have the 5 year warranty. Just hope that there is no problem in returning it.

Review from a similar UltraGuard in RV Covers

The cover I bought does not fit like the picture shown above. Not even close. I'm hoping it will protect my camper. It fits very loosely and I'm concerned about the wind when it comes about because it doesn't fit tightly. I'm sure it will be protected from the snow and sun. I just put it on this past week end cuz I had work done on my camper. I had to add a lot of straps to tighten it down and still concerned about the wind.

Comments
Since these covers do fit various size campers there will be slack in the material on smaller campers. If you would like a smaller size cover, I recommend this camco camper cover in 16 1/2 ft long part # CAM45771

Review from a similar UltraGuard in RV Covers

The RV cover material appears to be of good quality upon arrival. The instructions were a bit lacking but we were able to figure out the tie down system incorporated for the 5th Wheel cover. I would suggest to open the cover on the ground, find the front and pull the cover from the back of the RV to the front. The tie down design could be engineered a little better so we added some additional straps to help prevent movement in heavy winds. So far satisfied with this product, we will see how it holds up to the coastal rain, wind and humidity over time. I would recommend the product!
