Question:

Hi, I was looking to purchase a trunk mounted 3 bike rack and was hoping you could recommend either the Yakima FullBack Trunk Mount 3 or the Saris Bones EX for 3 bikes. I have a Subaru Forester Sport 2021. In your opinion, which of these is a better system or fit for my Subaru Forester? Or is there another that im not lookin at? This would be my first bike rack purchase. Thanks so much for anu advive,

The Yakima FullBack 3 Bike Strap Rack - Trunk Mount - Adjustable Arms # Y02633 and Saris Bones EX 3 Bike Rack - Trunk Mount - Adjustable Arms # SA803 will both work for your 2021 Subaru Forester without any issues. While both are excellent options, I would go with the Saris Bones.

The Saris Bones has more customer reviews stating that it worked very well on their Subaru Forester. The Yakima will work just fine, but there is not as much customer feedback on this rack. Another thing to note is that both bike racks have a weight capacity of 35lbs per bike but when hauling 3 bikes the Yakima has a reduced weight capacity of 90lbs total, whereas the Saris Bones still retains the entire capacity of 35lbs per bike even when 3 bikes are loaded. I also think the Saris bones EX 3 is more pleasing to the eye compared to the Yakima.

The Yakima Fullback does come with locks for the rack and the bikes. The Saris Bones does not but you can purchase them separately with part # SAR52FR.

Regardless of which bike rack you go with, you will want to use Adapter Bar # SA3040 if you plan to haul a women's, children's, step-thru, or other oddly-shaped bikes. This adapter bar will make sure any bike is secured to the bike rack despite an odd frame design. I attached a couple demonstration videos for you to check out.
