The Sherpa 2.0 keeps things simple with an all-aluminum design that weighs only 32 lbs, so lifting, installing, or removing it doesn’t feel like a workout. Despite the light weight, it’s built solid and carries two bikes up to 40 lbs each without flexing or sway. That makes it a good match for riders who want strength without bulk.
The rack secures bikes by the front wheels using ratcheting hooks—no clamps, no scratches. It’s a clean setup for carbon fiber frames or unique paint jobs. The hooks slide smoothly into place with one hand, while the rear-wheel cradles self-adjust to the right angle and lock down with ratcheting straps. The result is a stable hold that protects your frame and finish on every drive.
A spring-loaded foot lever at the base lets you tilt the rack down for rear-area access even when bikes are loaded. When you’re done riding, the same pedal folds the rack up flat for compact storage. It’s easy to reach, so there’s no need to crouch or reach around your bikes.
Getting the rack onto your hitch takes only a few turns of the front knob. The hand-tightening cam expands inside the shank to remove play—no wrenches, no bolts. A locking hitch pin holds it all in place and keeps the connection quiet mile after mile.
Security comes standard. A 6' long, 1/4" diameter cable lock threads through both bikes to keep them in place, and a matching lock secures the rack to the hitch. The locks are keyed alike for convenience, so one key handles both. It’s a simple way to make sure your gear stays yours.

I love it ! I just traveled 4600 miles with it and I couldnt be happier with the rack. It goes on and off my vehicle in less than 5 minutes and my bike was rock solid during every bump in the road. It pays to buy quality. I would like to up my rating to 5 stars.

The Kuat rack is such a breeze to put on and load our bikes. We have taken our bikes on twice as many trips as in the past. In fact I credit the ease of using Kuat rack for enticing us to buy two new bikes. We just returned from our second trip on the Virginia Creeper. Thanks Kuat for the revival of our biking habit!

Thank you for your review. Kuat does make a hi-lo adapter part # HL20B to raise the bike rack up 2 to avoid the exhaust pipe. However it does extend the setup by 7 so it puts extra leverage on the bike rack, for that reason the tongue weight rating of the hitch is decreased by 50. That weight rating includes the weight of the bikes and the rack itself which is 32 lbs.

We love the Kuat bike rack after using it for a year. Its easy to for me to install and remove, though Im 77. It takes less than 5 minutes. We dont leave it attached to the car when not in use. It holds our bikes securely even on a long trip 200 miles. And it easy to load and unload our hatchback with the rack and bikes attached, thanks to the away feature. Wed buy it again in a heartbeat.

excellent!! I use my rack with either our CRV or Ridgeline truck. Super easy to rig up, load bikes and take off. Bikes stay secure and ride along nicely at 80 mph. Very happy with our purchase.

Kuat rack still rocks. My son has had to carry it back and forth from truck to apartment so having the lightest tray rack has been amazing and doesn’t make him avoid using it or riding. Looks amazing and works like a charm.

Ive used this rack on multiple long road trips, including high speed highway and areas with high wind. The rack holds up great and is really sturdy. Super easy to install both the rack and the bikes. The tilt away feature is also super useful to access the back hatch while loaded with bikes. I do not regret this purchase and still value it highly.

This bike rack is not rated to be used on the back of a flat towed vehicle. We do have a bike rack that can be used on a flat towed vehicle, it is part # Y88DJ.

Thanks so much for the awesome review Thomas! It sounds like the Sherpa 2.0 has been a perfect match for your specialized bikes and your RAV4. We love hearing when a rack is easy to use and makes getting out on a ride that much easier. I also like that you mentioned storing it in your cargo area between rides, that's a great tip for anyone who doesn't leave their rack on all the time. Where do you usually like to ride, mostly around town or do you have a favorite trail or destination you head to?
