Video Transcript for Curt Pin and Clip for 2" and 2-1/2" Hitches Spec Review

Jeff: Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a look at this Curt class three, class four and class five hitch pin and clip, that fits two inch and two and a half inch hitch receivers. This hitch pin is what will secure your hitch mounted accessory in your trailer hitch receiver. The pin itself has a nice heat treated steel. It's very strong and durable, has a nice sink finish on it to resist corrosion, and if you notice on the clip and on the pin, it does have plastic grips on the ends right here, and those plastic grips make it easy to install and remove.

Same way on the clip, push it in and pull it out to remove it.A few specs on this. Again, it is designed to fit two inch by two inch and two and a half inch by two and a half inch trailer hitch receivers. The pin diameter is five eighths of an inch. Overall length, if we measure from this end to this end, on the pin itself is going to be right at five and one quarter inches. And the usable length would be once we install the clip and that's from inside the clip to the spot right there where it starts to bend is going to be right at three and one eighths inches for usable length, but that should do it for the review on this Curt class three, class four and class five hitch pin and clip for the two inch and two and a half inch hitch receivers..

  • How to Use the Thule T2 Bike Rack with a 2-1/2 Inch Trailer Hitch
You are on the right track. The only way we have that will allow you to use the Thule T2 Pro Xtr Bike Platform Rack part # TH69TX with the 2.5" receiver tube opening on your truck would be with adapter. For this, I recommend the Brophy Hitch Reducer and Extender part # HR26. This adapter offers both a reducer from 2.5" to 2" and an extension of 7" from the center of each hitch pin hole. This 7" extension will have more than enough room for the shank of the T2 to securely rest inside. It...

  • Hitch For A 2013 Chevy Express 4500 Cutaway
We offer universal fit hitches that fit many different vehicles. To add a class IV or V hitch to your 2013 Chevy express 4500 Cutaway from the hitches we carry, would require the hitch to be welded in place. I recommend the Curt Class V Universal Weld-on Receiver Hitch Item # 15903. This hitch fits frame rail spacing from 18" apart up to 61" apart, has a 1500lb max tongue weight with a 15000lb gross towing capacity, a 2" x 2" receiver tube opening with a 5/8" hitch pin hole. I also recommend...

For a hitch pin for the Lock N Roll Articulating Hitch w/ 3-Position Channel # 336VS503505 I recommend the InfiniteRule Locking Pins for Lock N Roll Articulating Hitch for 2" Hitches - Qty 2 # IR59FR. This set of pins is specifically designed for the Lock N Roll and will give you added security. The short pin secures the articulating coupler to your 2" trailer hitch and the long pin secures the trailer-end coupler to the articulating coupler. These use O-rings to protect the internal...

  • Bumper Clearance on Curt High-Low Adapter # C59KR
The Curt High-Low Adapter # C59KR should work for giving you ground clearance for your cargo carrier. The measurement from the shank hitch pin hole to the back end of the top receiver is 5-1/2", which should be enough clearance for your bumper. Refer to the diagram attached below and measure your hitch setup to make sure. Note this adapter does not come with a hitch pin and clip. If you need one, I recommend the Curt # C21510. Check out the videos linked below for more details on these...

The cargo carriers that will have a straight shank and shorter sidewalls, so you can choose from either of the following: - 19x60 Curt Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches # C18100 - 23x59 Stromberg Carlson Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches # CC-100 Both carriers will allow...

  • Recommended Easy to Use Hitch Pin For 2 Inch Receiver
We have a really cool solution for you, but you should not use a round linchpin as they are not designed for use with a standard 2 inch trailer hitch receiver. So you'll want to go with a standard hitch pin, and we do have an option for one that is super simple to use and doesn't have an R-clip like the Curt Pin & Clip # C21510, for example. In fact, it doesn't use a clip at all, and the part I'm referring to is from Master Lock, and it's called a Pivot Lock, which is available in either...

You will need to use the TorkLift trailer hitch on your 2018 GMC Sierra 3500 in order to use the SuperTruss 36" Extension # TLE1536. The reason for that is the extension is designed to fit the dual receivers of the SuperHitch as opposed to the single receiver of the OEM hitch on your Sierra. You can also choose from a SuperHitch with dual 2" receivers or with a 2-1/2" and 2" receiver, with the extension fitting either. I'll list out the options, as there are different fits depending on...

  • Extra-Long 2-1/2-Inch Ball Mount Rated for at Least 15,000-lbs
We offer both fixed and adjustable ball mounts that will fit a 2-1/2-inch hitch like the one on your 2016 Ford F-350 Super Duty and you can see them all on the linked page. We do offer an extra-long fixed ball mount rated for 16K, part # BWBMHD30214, that has either a rise or drop of 6-inches. This ball mount uses a 5/8-inch hitch pin or lock such as # C21510 or # e98881, and it takes a hitch ball with a 1-1/4-inch shank diameter such as # C40030.

  • How To Fix Stripped Threads On the Hitch Pin Hole In the Shank for the Reese Eclipse 4 Bike Rack
If you have the hitch pin for the Reese Eclipse 4 Bike Rack part # 63124 engaged enough so that the cotter pin can be inserted into the other side, then this will be sufficient in order to hold the shank inside of the receiver tube. That said, the bike rack may not be as stable as it would be with full thread engagement so that is something to keep in mind. I cannot really recommend that you drill and tap the weld nut inside the shank, but you could just drill this out with a 5/8" drill...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch And Wiring To Tow A Trailer With A 2022 VW Atlas
We definitely have what you need to get your 2022 Volkswagen Atlas all set up to tow a small trailer. There will be a couple more things needed than just a hitch and wiring, but not many. With that said, let's get into it. First thing's first, the hitch. For this we have the American made Curt # C24ER. There is some fascia trimming required for the installation, but no drilling, so it is a pretty straight forward install. This is also rated up to 6,000 pounds towing and 900 pounds of tongue...

The hitch is from EcoHitch, and is the following part number: - EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7359 The EcoHitch # 306-X7359 has a 300 lb tongue weight capacity, and is the only hitch that fits your Bolt which has a capacity of over 100 lbs, which is why it's the only option for the amount of weight you are looking...

There is not a place for safety chains to connect to the 18" Curt Extender for 2" Receivers # C45796 so you would need to get new safety chains as well; I have added a link to our selection of safety chains for you to check out such as the 60" # C19749. Keep in mind you will need Pin and Clip # C21510 in order to attach the extender to your current hitch, and that an extender is going to reduce the capacity of your current trailer hitch by 50 percent.

I can provide you with an option but you probably aren't going to be hitting the 200 lb. mark you are hoping for, especially after taking the weight of the cargo carrier into consideration. You can use the Roadmaster High-Low Adapter # RM-048-8. The catch is that when using an adapter that extends your hitch, which is what an adapter to gain rise does. You will reduce your hitches tongue weight rating by 50%. Obviously, how much weight that leaves you with depends on the hitch that you...

  • How to Choose the Correct Ball Mount for a 2017 Subaru Forester
In order to choose the correct ball mount you will need to measure from the ground to the top of the inside edge on the vehicle's receiver tube opening and then compare that to the distance from the ground to the bottom of the coupler on the trailer while level. The distance between these two measurements will give you the correct amount of rise/drop you will need to look for in a ball mount. • What is the Weight Rating of the Curt Pin and Clip # C21510
Hitch pins are not given weight ratings because they are built with such extreme weight bearing capabilities that the trailer hitch, ball mount or trailer coupler is more likely to fail than the hitch pin. Most Class IV trailer hitches have a maximum towing capacity of 12,000 lbs and a tongue weight capacity of 1,000 lbs. Before you tow your horse trailer, you will also want to verify the towing capacity of your tow vehicle. There are instances where a Class IV hitch is available for...

The only other part needed to attach the 20x59 Curt Cargo Carrier # C18151 to the Curt Trailer Hitch # C13382, will be either a standard pin and clip, or a locking pin. For a standard pin, I suggest going with the Curt # C21510. The rubberized handle makes this easier to grip than most others. If you prefer a locking pin, the etrailer.com # e98880 will be a great option. This is chrome plated and will be very rust resistant.
