Question:
Hi, I'm looking to tow a small trailer with my 2022 VW Atlas. The one I'm looking at is a 5 x 8 and it doesn't have brakes, but it does have a 4 prong wiring connector. I need to get some recommendations for a hitch and the wiring and anything else I might need. Thanks in advance for your help.

We definitely have what you need to get your 2022 Volkswagen Atlas all set up to tow a small trailer. There will be a couple more things needed than just a hitch and wiring, but not many. With that said, let's get into it.
First thing's first, the hitch. For this we have the American made Curt # C24ER. There is some fascia trimming required for the installation, but no drilling, so it is a pretty straight forward install. This is also rated up to 6,000 pounds towing and 900 pounds of tongue weight, but you will need to check your owners manual for the vehicle capacities as it does look to change depending on how it was equipped.
Next up we have the wiring. For this I recommend the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C67WR. This has the needed 4 Flat connector and other than one wire that needs to run up to the battery for needed power, it will be plug and play. Once this and the hitch are installed, you will need 3 more things to complete your set up. Two of the three things will depend on the trailer, so keep in mind that these are examples.
First is the ball mount. You will need to measure from the ground to the bottom of the coupler on a level surface to be accurate, but you will then compare this measurement to the height of the top of the receiver opening of the hitch, which will be 13". If you get 16" for the coupler, you will need 3" of rise and something like the Curt # C45313 will be perfect. You will then need to see what size ball the coupler takes. If it is 2", which it should be for this size trailer, you will need the # A-90. And to complete everything, you will need the # C21510 pin and clip to keep everything in the hitch.
