Today, we're going to take a look at the Performance Tools universal offset brake adjustment spoon. This tool is for adjusting drum brakes, has the angles blades, one on each end for confined areas. This will adjust the star adjuster and the screw adjuster type brakes very quickly and easily. It's made of a drop forged steel and has a chrome plating to it to help resist corrosion. I just want to try to show you what it's used for. Here's a typical drum brake that has the star adjuster right at the bottom, so on the very back you will access to adjust that through the access hole right here. This tool is made to be able to go through that access hole and reach that adjustment gear and adjust your brakes.
Depending on how much clearance you have, you might have to use the 90 degree angle. It's part of this smaller angle one. That should do it for the review on the Performance Tools universal offset brake adjustment spoon.
I ended up not needing this for my self adjusting brakes but I wanted this tool for my tool box because it's a TOOL :)

My brakes were not working right on my trailer. So I bought new trailer brake kits from etrailer.The kits came fast and I installed them The only think I did not like is the wires from the magnets on the brakes are very thin wire. I wish they would have used thicker wire with a heavier coating.

I was initially concerned about finding the right parts as the trailer was fairly old. etrailer had just what I needed. The website is so elegant. I was able to find the right parts quickly and with comparative options to make a final selection. The how-to videos are great. This made installation a little more comfortable. Especially when you do not perform this type of work every day. The parts were of high quality and are working as expected. I highly recommend etrailer for any of your trailer needs.
This is a MUST for adjusting trailer drum brakes. Makes it so much easier to reach in and set the brakes. Don't even have to remove the wheel to do it! The drums I have are Item #AKEBRK-6
I have two trailers on which I adjust the brakes about once a year, and I find it worthwhile to spend a little bit on this tool. It works better than a screwdriver, but crusty brakes will fight you when adjusting through the backing plate regardless of the tool you use.
The only reason I do not give you 5 stars is because your web site. When internet ordering, it should instantly state when a part is out of stock. Even nicer would be expected restocking dates. The parts received were exactly what I ordered for my electric brake conversion from surge brakes at far less expense than reparing the internally rusted surge brake system. There was a plethora of information on your web site to assist me in ordering the correct parts for the conversion. Plus there were videos to see how to complete the conversion and how parts were installed and adjusted. Customer service was excellent.
Brake assemblies were just the ticket to getting my cargo trailer brakes back to new working order. Shipping was great and fast. I needed them quick, as my old brakes had worn out and broke up. This caused damage to the internal works. A super way to replace you brakes and worn out pieces. I would urge anyone with internal brake problems to give these a try!!
So Disappointed!! This is a review of my order experience, not the product. I needed to replace the brake assemblies on my camper before we could go on vacation. I call to see how long it would take to receive and was told 2 days. I placed the order and received as told. I was about to be impressed until I opened the box. They not only sent the wrong brand, but also the wrong size. I called customer service and had to wait 45 minutes for someone answer. She agreed it was their mistake. I told her I only had two more days to get them on and still go on vacation. I asked for next day delivery. She was able to do that, but said it would ship that day and go 2nd day. The next day, the order had not shipped and the tracking number I was given doesn't even register on UPS. I don't when or if I will receive the correct product. Very disappointed that they would not step up and make it right.
I'm overhauling a 20 year old boat trailer and etrailer.com was the ONE and ONLY site on the internet that had both the necessary parts for this old trailer, but also instructional videos and hints on what to order and how to complete the job with a minimum amount of mistakes. This particular order (2 hyd. brake assemblies, hardware and brake tool) qualified for free shipping, but I didn't expect the above average delivery time also (2 days). I'm not finished with this project, but am sure I'll be doing more business with etrailer. Thanks for the great website and exceptional service.
Nice tool to have but not worth getting if you get the never adjust brakes. The design stops you from using this.
Needless to say it’s a tool a still keep in the trailer just in case
The brake assemblies I received seem to be just fine. They were a good fit on my trailer. Haven't completed the job yet to try the brakes out, but they look great. All my other parts were correct and very well packaged. I really appreciate the great customer service. These guys seem to really care.

If you don't have one of these and have drum trailer brakes you need this.
Brake back plates, shoes, seals, etc. were exact fit and very rapid change out in just a few minutes. Connections for brake magnets and of course cleaning took the most time. Adjusted brakes to Dexter instructions and worked perfect.
Everything arrived but I was surprised that small parts weren't lost because one cardboard box (brake drum) had split open and the inner bag (lug nuts, etc) was ripped.. I would encourage the packers to make sure packages are sturdy enough for the trip.
An economy brake spoon. Since I only needed it for the initial adjustment of my self-adjusting brakes, I'll probably never use it again; however, it was easy to use and did the job I bought it for without any problems. The only reason it is not rated a five is that for professional, daily use, (admittedly, not advertised as professional) it could have been made of a higher grade steel. It suited my needs completely.
Sure beats using a large flat blade screwdriver. Should have bought one of these years ago

Worth the price! The brakes are difficult enough to set and adjust, this tool works good.
Brake drum assy, grease and adjuster tool were all excelent. Everything fit perfectly.
Very satisfied with the service. Also shippment came quickly. When parts are needed in the future I will definitly buy from etrailer.com again.

The brakes are ok except 1 of them fell apart inside. I had to open it up and remove the debri as it was making all kinds of raquet and i thought it was going to seize up. But no big deal i have 3 still working . Thanks Russ
