Video Transcript for Pewag 7mm LT Studded Truck Chains Installation - 2022 Toyota Tundra

Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Pewag off-road, seven millimeter LT Studded Truck Chains. On our 2022 Toyota Tundra. To start things off, these are off-road only. So if you're looking for road chains, definitely don't grab these. But, if you're wanting the most aggressive chains you can get for mud, ice whatever it is that's off the road, you found them. So these are seven millimeter studs all the way through here.

So this puts the V-Bar style chains to shame. If you want a lot of traction but you wanna go on road, go with V-Bar, but I kinda like these for those off-road purposes. You can use them not only in the winter but you can use them in the summer as well. So that's pretty cool. It's made of a premium steel construction.

So it is not gonna rust away over time whether it's salt or just mud and water. So these again are the most aggressive. So we really wanna get them nice and tight on our tires. And the cams definitely help us with that. I love the fact that they have cams on here.

Because as your tires start to kinda wear down over time. The diameter will shrink a little bit, and these will just give you that extra piece of mind that you know that it's as tight as it possibly can be, and they're not gonna come off and damage your vehicle. These are going to come in a pair, which is two. And they both fit really well in this bag. So there's a canvas bag that tends to kinda rip a little bit.

But, you gonna hear it. This isn't canvas. It is kinda like a grain bag that you see with some feed around the farm. So it's not really gonna tear over time. I think it's a little bit stronger than that. But they both fit in here very, very easily. And you can just throw it in your toolbox, throw it in the bed of your truck, throw it underneath one of those seats in your Tundra. All in all, I love the looks of these chains, I love what they're gonna enable this Tundra to do or just get out of. So the next thing we need to do is to show you how we install them which isn't that difficult. So, stick around. First thing you wanna do whenever you get your chains out of the bag, is we want to lay them out. And then there's a couple things we wanna take into account. This link right here, this is the smooth side. This is not so smooth side. We want the smooth side to go towards the tire just to prevent any unnecessary damage. And then the cams which is this right here. We want those to be on the outside of our tire just so we can access them easily later on. Once that's all figured out you just grab your chains in the middle. And drape them over your tire. We'll make sure they're nice and even this way but also right and left as well. And once everything looks good. I'll meet you around back for our first connection. On one side we're gonna have some links, and on the other side we're gonna have a hook. So I suggest doing this in your garage 'cause there isn't gonna be a link that's gonna be the best fit for your specific vehicle. So, I'm gonna go with the third one right now. So definitely do it then before you're actually stuck and you're you know, having to lay down on the ground. Just do it in your garage, so you just know. Now I'll meet you around front for our second connection. Same deal in the front. Just grab a link. Whichever is the best. I bet I can get it to the second one right here. Ooh, so close. But it really doesn't matter we don't have to get this close. So I'm just gonna go with this. So I can show you how much slack there is right now. But, that's about to change. There's a tool included with our kit. Looks like this. And I like to start up top. So as I start to twist this. You can see that tension starting to come out. And we're gonna have three of them. So definitely two for sure. That's pretty good but let's get the rest of this slack out. Oh, yeah. Nice and tight. So that's pretty good but we're not done yet. There's one other thing that doesn't come with the kit. It's a rubber tensioner, It looks like this. And the only thing we need to do is just make sure that these hooks are gonna be facing away from the tires. I like to start somewhat in the middle out top, have two on the sides, and then go to the bottom. What this is gonna do is just make sure that we're evenly distributing all the tension throughout the chain. Now once that's done we wanna get in the vehicle, roll over them a couple of times. Make sure that they're still nice and tight. And if so, we're good. And that's pretty much it. If you're looking for the most aggressive off-road chains you found them. So, add up to your cart. And hopefully this video helps. And again these we're the Pewag Studded LT Truck Tire Chains on our 2022, Toyota Tundra..

See what our Experts say about this pewag Tire Chains

  • Do Tire Chain Style and Size Make a Difference with Ride Quality and Traction
Link size and design do make a pretty big difference and have pros and cons so you'll have to decide what will serve your 2020 Subaru Crosstrek the best. Bigger links will give a bit better traction in deep snow and will be a bit rougher so there's a trade off there. Link design also has a big impact as well. Square link chains do the best in deep snow, V-bars like what the studded # PWKST2228SC has do the best in icy conditions since they are sharper and break up the ice, and the twist...
