CURT 5th Wheel Hitch - C26EV

Highlights

  • Custom Fit for Your Vehicle: Mounts to existing attachment points
  • Strength You Can Count On: Rated for 25,000 lbs GTW and 6,250 lbs vertical load for towing large fifth wheels.
  • Quiet, Stable Ride: Fully articulating torsion head suppresses road shock and reduces towing noise.
  • Know You’re Locked In: Color-coded 3-point indicator shows when the jaws are ready to couple, tow, or uncouple.
  • Easy Hookup and Release: Interlocking 2-jaw system wraps the king pin for 360° contact and smoother connection.
  • Quick, One-Person Removal: Fast 1-pin head release lets you take the hitch out without help.

Features to know about

Built for Big Loads and Long Hauls: 25,000 lbs GTW and 6,250 lbs Vertical Load Limit

This hitch is rated for up to 25,000 lbs gross towing weight and a 6,250 lbs vertical load limit, giving you the confidence to pull large fifth wheels and heavy rigs. The sturdy steel construction and durable carbide powder coat finish hold up to long miles and rough roads. It’s a tough setup that feels solid when you’re hitched and rolling down the highway.

Quiet, Confident Towing Every Mile: Interlocking 2-Jaw System with Torsion Head

The rounded, interlocking two-piece jaw wraps fully around the king pin, giving you 360-degree contact. That secure fit keeps movement and rattle to a minimum compared to slide-bar designs. The fully articulating torsion head cushions road shock and helps smooth out bumps, making the ride quieter and more stable whether you're climbing grades or cruising straight stretches.

Close-up of Curt A25 fifth-wheel hitch showing dual interlocking jaws open to receive trailer king pin for secure towing connection.

Know Exactly When You’re Ready to Roll: Three-Point Color Indicator System

A quick look at the color-coded lock indicator tells you where things stand—red for uncoupled, yellow for ready to couple, and green for towing. You can see the indicator right from the cab or handle position without climbing into the bed. The handle also locks with a padlock (sold separately) so you can secure your trailer in place when parked.

Fast Hookup and Easy Removal: Self-Aligning Head and One-Pin Release

Hooking up is simple thanks to the self-aligning head that guides the king pin smoothly into place. When it’s time to unhook, the handle resets itself to “ready-to-couple,” saving an extra step later. For storage, pull one pin and lift off the head—manageable enough for one person to remove without extra tools. Two built-in zerk fittings make lubrication quick, so you can keep everything moving freely trip after trip.

Dial In Your Setup: 13"–17" Height Adjustment

With 4" of height adjustment built in, it’s easy to get a level setup between truck and trailer for better clearance over bed rails. The included plastic lube plate helps the king pin glide smoothly during hookup, keeping wear down on both sides. It’s a straightforward design that lets you fine-tune your towing geometry before hitting the road.

Video Transcript for The Low-Down on the Curt Universal Fifth Wheel Base Rails with Installation Kit

Today we're going to take a look at the Curt Universal 5th Wheel Base Rails with the installation kit in a carbide black finish. These base rails will provide a solid mounting point for your 5th wheel hitch. The universal L-shape brackets here will fit nearly any application. They are semi-custom brackets that can be used to ease installation on certain vehicles. All the parts are protected by a highly durable carbide powder coat finish. They are inaudible 00:00:24 in a rust resistant liquid bonderite coating. Now, this part is compatible with most 5th wheel hitches, rollers and goose neck adapters by Curt, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Reese, Valley, and Husky.

Complete kit includes everything shown here, the two base rails themselves, the 4 L-shaped universal brackets, all the mounting hardware, and a nice set of detailed instructions on how to install everything. That should do it for the review on the Curt Universal 5th Wheel Base Rails with the installation kit in a carbide black finish.

Ordering from etrailer was a great decision! I got a confirmation email for my order within minutes and an email it had shipped in just a few hours. I was given an expected delivery date and it actually showed up a day early. I’m super impressed with the customer service! I bought a fifth wheel hitch and found an [online] video for my truck and hitch that was extremely helpful, especially since all the RV dealers in the area were two months out to install it. All in all dealing with etrailer has been a great experience and I will definitely be going back for any of my other RV needs!

Easy to order from etrailer with fast shipping. Ordered on Mon estimated delivery on Fri but came in only 2 days for a deliver Wed. Curt A25 hitch packaged very well good instruction easy assembly on tailgate filling installed and torqued in less that 30 mins.

Ive been using this fifth wheel set up for about 5 months now and I don't have any complaints. I pull a 2022 Heartland Cyclone 4006 toyhauler fifth wheel. Loaded down its usually weighing between 18 to 20,000 lbs depending on what we are hauling.
by:
It is well built. Directions could have better illustrations. Putting handle together was the most difficult part of process. It dropped right into my existing rails. Have not hooked my fifth wheel yet, but very satisfied with the finished product.

I have pulled a 16,000 lbs 5th wheel over 13,000 miles with this hitch and no issues. It arrived with the package damaged and the handle bent. Etrailer quickly replaced the part. The base will rust if not covered. If you remain hooked up for an over night stay, you will need to lower your jacks to stabilize and prevent rocking do to the hitch’s design. Great product.

Took me a month, but I finally got the Curt A25 fifth wheel hitch in my truck and took it for nearly 150 mile trip to see how it would work. My wife and I both were amazed at how quiet and the bouncing, snapping, popping and cussing were all gone. This hitch is absolutely amazing. Before, when I just pulled out of my driveway, the old fifth wheel would snap and pop loudly several times. It was so quiet with the Curt A25 (new one), both of us looked at each other and looked back to see if the trailer was moving with us. (It was) Thank you to Curt for building it so well and to all of the people at etrailer that recommended it and ensuring it was all right.

My 5th wheel package was robbed during shipping.
When I received it, the box had obviously been opened and then taped shut.
When I opened it, the base of the 5th wheel hitch was gone!
I called etrailer's customer support and they were amazing.
I sent pictures of the package I took before and after I opened the package.
The customer support rep said that was all I needed to do.
And they shipped a new base two days later.
I just received the base of the hitch.
I am extremely happy that etrailer's customer support was so responsive when I had a serious problem!
Thank you etrailer customer support!

The only thing I wish I got was a sliding hitch as it would have been a bit easier to hitch as a perfectly straight hitch I have only a inch to spare before my tailgate hits the bulkhead. So being that I have to close the tailgate before I am totally hitched into the kingpin

Had a Pullrite Superglide in my old F350 standard bed but when I upgraded to the 8ft bed of the dually, I went with this hitch. Hitch came in 2 boxes and although the boxes worked banged up a bit, everything was there and fine. It only took about 30 minutes to bolt everything together and install on the rails that were already in the truck. I actually had to take the hitch apart once to adjust the hitch up a little. I wanted it as high as possible in the bed, while still clearing the Roll N Lock retractable bed cover. Looks good, seems solid and well made. Hitch head comes off to make it easier to remove this hitch, but even with the head connected, I am able to move the hitch in the truck (would need to take head off for me to lift the hitch out of the truck). Also installed a BedRug at the same time to clean up the bed.

Curt A25 fifth wheel hitch... received in record time ,box was damaged and the pull arm was bent. Called Etrailer and they sent me another pull arm immediately. Great customer service, will continue to do business here. Thanks Molly and George

Purchased the Curt 25 A. 25,000 lb capacity with articulating head. I pull an 18,000 lb 5th wheel camper with a 3500 diesel dually. There is lots of movement when braking and start of pull after a full and normal stop. I would not buy the articulating model again. The product seems to be well built just too much front to rear movement in the head.
by:
I could not be happier. It's solid, no sway while towing and no banging when I hit the brakes. Great product and I would highly recommend it!

I am very pleased with my purchase from etrailer. The 25,000 pound hitch and hardware was shipped promptly and received from UPS in good condition.
Thanks, etrailer!

The hitch arrived as promised and in perfect condition. Couldn’t ask for better customer service. Looking forward to towing with the Curt A25.
I’ll amend this review after I tire with it. Super happy with etrailer!!

2017 Chevrolet Silverado 3500
Great Hitch. I haven't used it to pull yet but it's heavier and seems more sturdy than the Reese I replaced. I also like the interlocking jaws. Many time hitching with the reese I'd have to use a flashlight to see that the jaws were closed but not any more. I'll update once I pull the camper with it.

I was happy with the transaction with etrailer. The website was very helpful in finding what I needed. The product was received ahead of the committed date. The only problem was with the packaging. Some of the boxes were pretty beat-up and the parts were scratched with the finish damaged. That was a little disappointing.
by:
etrailer sells high quality Curt products. I order Curt products from etrailer and all reasonably price, process works great, online order through physical final delivery,

Great hitch, easy to use and a smoother than the old reese

Arrived in great shape, easy to install. Can't wait to give it a try. Looks well built and easy to use. The release handle is just in a different position than my old 20K Reese so will be a little more of a reach to get to the lock pin.
by:
like it very quiet and smooth
by:
Best hitch I have ever purchased even got my friend to switch
by:
The hitch has worked well for us . I wish it would go up 2 inches higher as it is close to the box have not had any problems though
by:

  • Recommended Curt Sliding Fifth Wheel Hitch for 2007 Dodge Ram Short Bed
To tow a fifth wheel trailer with your 2007 Dodge Ram with a 6-1/2 foot bed you will need to install base rails in your truck bed in order to mount a Curt sliding hitch. Base rails come with installation kits and there are two different options for an '07 Dodge Ram, depending on the model of your truck; I will list the kits and you can select the right one. Keep in mind these kits come with both the base rails and frame brackets so you do not need to purchase them separately. - 2007 Dodge...

This kit is compatible with Curt fifth wheel hitches including sliders. Since your trailer is only 4000 lbs you will be well under your hitch's weight capacity of 16K. • Is Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch Needed for Short Bed 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab
When towing with a short bed truck like your 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab, you will need either a sliding 5th wheel hitch or the use of a rotating pin box because otherwise if you make too sharp a turn the trailer will make contact with the cab and can cause a lot of damage. Since rotating pin boxes like Sidewinders are going to be much more expensive, you are better off going with a sliding hitch than the fixed Reese hitch you have. You can offset the cost by selling the Elite hitch...

Hey David, the Curt A25 # C16180 will work with your 8' bed and is not a sliding hitch. You don't need a sliding hitch with an 8' bed since the bed is long enough. I can tell you this hitch has a 22" x 29" footprint, but if you're looking for something else, let me know! With your trailer being 18k, I'd get either a 20 or 25k so this hitch is perfectly fine...

Hey Mark, it really comes down to what's going to allow your trailer to sit level with at least 4-6 inches of bed rail to trailer overhang clearance. Since the A20 and the A25 are very similar I would assume you'd want to use the same set of mounting holes on the A25 as the old hitch as long as the trailer was being towed level. But you should verify after that point if your trailer is able to be towed level.

  • Comparing Goose Box to 5th Wheel Pin Box and Hitch Regarding Articulation and Capacity
The Reese Goose Box # RP94720 has an integrated air back and shock system that will help on rough terrain. It works very much the same as some pin boxes like the Trailair Flex Air- 21,000 lbs # RP85FR. The issue you will find is that your trailer weight given is greater than the pin boxes we carry. The Goose Box is only rated for 20K and our pin boxes max at 21K. For the capacity you are seeking, I recommend the Curt A25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch- 25,000 lbs # C16180 which has a fully...

  • Can You Add 5th Wheel Pucks To a 2022 Chevy Silverado 3500
I do have an option for you but if they were not installed from the factory, there is no way to add pucks to a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 3500. Therefore, if you want to install a fifth wheel hitch you will need to install a set of above bed base rails like the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit part # C16429-204. I have attached an install video I did on this kit if you'd like to give it a watch. These rails will work with pretty much any hitch so long as said hitch is designed to...

  • Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch for 2020 Ford F-250 with and without Factory Puck System
I can absolutely make a 5th wheel hitch recommendation for your potential 2020 Ford F-250, whether you get it with the factory puck system in the bed or not. Starting with my recommendation for the factory puck setup, I really like the Curt A25 5th Wheel Hitch # C16036. This will drop right down into those pucks and it features an interlocking 2-jaw system that will completely wrap around the trailer's king pin. What this does is not only provide an extremely secure connection with the...

  • Can Curt Q24 Fifth Wheel Hitch be Used with Rota Flex Pin Box
If you locked out the rotating portion of the Rota-Flex pin box you could use the Curt Q24 # C16245 with it. Or if you wanted to keep using that feature of the pin box you could go with the A25 hitch part # C16180 which is a redesigned version of the Q24 that will work with the RotaFlex.

  • Fitting A New 5th Wheel Hitch On A Truck With Older Style Rails
I do have a solution that will allow you to keep the Demco Hijacker Premier Series Mounting Brackets # DM8552027 that are already installed on your vehicle. You will have to change your existing older style rails for universal rails that will fit newer style hitches. The Universal Above-Bed Base Rails for Demco # DM6071 will work great, as this will bolt up to your current brackets. For the 5th wheel hitch itself, I recommend either the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # C16120 or the...

  • Recommended Curt 5th Wheel Hitch For 2022 Chevy Silverado 3500 For 20,000 lb Trailer
Since your Alliance trailer has a 20,000 lb GVWR, you'll need a hitch with a capacity that exceeds that, and the best option from Curt is the A-Series. You didn't mention if your 2022 Chevy Silverado 3500 had the OEM puck system, or if you already have bed rails installed, or if it was a short bed or long bed, so I'll list out every potential option: - Short Bed WITHOUT OEM Puck System: Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit # C16429-204 & Curt A25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ S25 Slider...

  • Does Curt A25 Fifth Wheel Hitch Ride in the Center of the Rails on a 2008 Ford F-250 or F-350?
Yes, the Curt A25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # C16180 will sit in the center of the rails. If you take a look at the diagram I've added you can see where you would need to install the Curt Brackets and Base Rails # C16448-204 on your 2008 Ford F-250 or F-350 and where the center line of the hitch is in relation to the brackets.

  • Is The Curt Q25 Fifth Wheel Hitch Compatible With Rota Flex Pin Boxes
The whole Curt Q-Series line like the Curt Q25 # C16265 you referenced is not compatible with the Rota Flex pin box line like the # LC328330, nor are they compatible with rotating pin boxes. The pivoting system of the pin box works against the pivoting system of the hitch head and can cause the components of the head to deteriorate, ultimately leading to the hitch head failing. The only option is to either replace the pin box with one of the same bolt pattern or to replace the hitch....
