The B&W Tow & Stow adjustable ball mount lets you tow a variety of trailers with different tongue heights. Having a 1-7/8" ball, a 2" ball and a 2-5/16" ball allows for even more versatility, making this the ultimate go-to ball mount if you own multiple trailers.

Easily Adjusts and Stows

B&W Tow & Stow Ball Mount Operation

To switch the hitch ball, simply remove the pin holding the balls in place and rotate the entire block that the balls are mounted on until the ball you want to use is on top. Then replace the pin to secure the block in place.

Adjusting the height of the ball is just as easy. Remove the pins holding the ball mount platform in place and slide the platform up or down along the shank to the desired position. Once you have found the correct height, reinsert the pins and replace the clips.

When you're not towing, you can flip the ball mount platform around and stow it beneath your hitch so that you won't bang your shins. Just remove the pins to slide the ball platform down along the channel and up the back side so that the hitch balls face towards your vehicle. Then replace the pins.

Built-In Anti-Theft System

The Tow & Stow ball mount features a channel that runs along both sides of the shank. This channel not only allows you to slide the ball mount platform up and down to adjust the ball height, but it also prevents removal of the platform when the ball mount is installed, which will help prevent theft of your trailer.

Single Dimensions

A slot is cut into the adjustment channel near the top of the shank. To remove the ball mount platform from the shank you will need to remove the entire ball mount from your hitch. Then remove the pins that hold the platform in place. Flip the platform around to the stowed position on the rear of the shank, and then slide it up until the center pin lines up with the slot in the shank. Pull the platform out towards the rear of the shank until the pin pops out of the adjustment channel.

When the Tow & Stow is secured in your hitch receiver, you will not be able to remove the ball mount platform. This is because the slot in the shank is positioned in such a way that the collar on your hitch will block the pin on the platform from being able to leave the channel. Even if the pins holding the ball mount platform in place are removed, the platform will still be confined to this channel. So, as long as a hitch lock is used to secure the entire ball mount in your hitch receiver, and a coupler lock is used to prevent your trailer's coupler from being disengaged from the ball, your trailer will be secure.

Video Transcript for B and W Tow and Stow 3-Ball Mount Review

Hey everybody, welcome to etrailer.com. I'm Bobby, and today we're taking a look at the B&W Stow & Tow 3-Ball Mount System, and this is gonna be a nice little way of actually starting to work with your GM multi-pro tailgate system. So, obviously, if we wanna go ahead and utilize this guy normally, with a regular ball mount system, we'll probably have- start having some issues. It would stick out right in the way, we want, you can see with this low profile design, it's actually gonna be hanging right in front of us there. When I drop that guy down, we're gonna have no contact, even when I go ahead and pull out my seat here, and start standing on it, putting weight on it, and getting in my truck, we don't wanna have any kind of contact. So, this becomes awesome, of course, of allowing yourself to have a ball mount, ready to go, and as you guys are gonna see in just a second, we can go ahead, flip it out, and be ready to tow anything that we need to do.

Now the tow & stow is gonna come in two models. Here, as you guys can see, this is gonna be the 2-ball mounts system. And that's gonna have one less ball. That ball that's missing is gonna be an inch and 7/8th of an inch. While it is gonna have a two inch ball, and a two and 5/16th of an inch ball, which will be replicated, of course, on the 3-ball mounts system, so, again, you're just missing that inch and 7/8ths ball that the third on has.

So if you guys aren't quite needing that one, you can just go ahead and get the 2-ball system. However, for not much more, you're getting a third option which can come in clutch if you have any friends or family that might need you to tow something you're not used to, nice that you have the option, of course. You guys can kinda see how this system actually sits in there. So here's our shaft, and that of course, is gonna be going into our hitch receiver. And you guys can see, it has this little lip in here, which allows it to get nice and tight to that receiver, which allows us to get- stay nice and low profile here, as you guys are seeing.

Let me go ahead and give you that measurement really quick. We're only having about an inch and a half, as you guys can see, from the hitch receiver. And that becomes great, as you guys know, that multi-pro tailgate really becomes close in here, so nice it can go ahead and stay a nice and low profile and we're not interacting with our tailgate. Just like most of B&W's parts, it's gonna be made of a high quality production. So you are having a steel design here with a nice black powder coat finish.

As you can see, that gives it a nice look to it. So, now a black powder coat is very, very easy to start really kinda. Put these guys to the work, and starting to kinda wreck it, honestly. Especially if you find yourself doing a lot of heavy duty coupling, you might just start seeing a little bit of degradation to it. Now, it is gonna be holding up quite well, and the longer we treat it better, the longer it's gonna be lasting us, and it can just be, you know, spot treating it, giving it a little rust proof on it can be very helpful. And especially these balls, they are gonna have that chromate that's gonna keep them resistant to corrosion for a long time. However, you're gonna have nicks, you're gonna have dings, and that's gonna start degrading the integrity of your materials. So, it can go a long way to, of course, just service it as you guys go along. And the stainless steel pins make it really easy to be rust resistant as well. As you guys are gonna see, to pull these guys out, is gonna be pretty much integral of making sure that they are gonna stay nice and clean, and it is nice that that stainless steel helps us keep it that way. So we gonna go ahead and get this guy out of the stow position here. To do so, I'm just gonna go ahead and pop these pins, well, pull these clips out, I should say, and then pop these pins out, just like so. One thing that can be helpful, you can see that weight of that ball mount wants to pull that weight down. You just kinda support it with you back hand here, can be a little bit easier to go ahead and get your pins all the way removed. Now I have read that the pins can be a little tricky to get used to, but once you do, they become way easier to use overtime. So, bear with me if we have a little bit of user error here. But all we have to do now is try to get this guy to slide up. I've found getting it at an angle is a little bit more helpful, sometimes, and just supporting it up, as you guys can see, and that way, we can go ahead and actually try out positioning here. So let me go ahead and replace our pins now. And this is gonna go ahead and actually th- in our tow position here guys. So, of course this is gonna allow us to start accessing our ball mount. Let me go ahead and just run these pins in really quick to get them out of the way. And, of course, right now we have that inch and 7/8ths inch ball mount, we can quickly and easily swap these guys out, by removing one more clip and pin system, of course. And then simply spinning this around to wherever we need. So, if I need my two and 5/16ths of an inch, my inch and 7/8ths, or my two inch all here, I can go ahead and do so. And you guys are seeing we have two holes here. We can see, in that inch and 7/8ths, gonna be using that back pin, I believe. Yep. And then our two and our two and 5/16ths will use that front pin to start holding on there. So, very very easy to do as you guys saw, all I had to do was replace that pin, and there we are, ready to tow. So with this guy, you are gonna have quite a lot of capability, of course. You are gonna have 10,000 pounds of gross vehicle weight rating, which is awesome of course, go ahead and tow everything you need. And with a 1,000 pounds of tongue weight, you're gonna have a way okay time of hauling things you need to with this guy. So, really like how it's modular, and yet it's still packing a punch, and it's still gonna be holding up and allowing us to tow what we need to. Now, of course, you can go ahead and actually flip this around because we do have a drop and rise action going on in here. So, to give you guys that drop, you do have about 2 and a half inches here from the top of your receiver tube, to the very end of your ball mount here. Now, I will say, I think you're losing about a quarter of an inch right here in the inch and 7/8ths ball, that's just because you guys can see this weld, it's a little bit higher here on that ball mount system. However, for your two inch ball, you're gonna have an a-okay time, having that two and a half inch drop. And of course, we can go ahead and flip this around, and start giving ourselves some rise, however, in both scenarios here, when you have it in the tow position, you won't be able to utilize your GM multi-pro tailgate sub-system, however, of course, you can drop that tailgate. Let's go ahead and see how it interacts with our tow & stow in the rise position. As you can see, it definitely comes up a little bit higher. What's nice, I still think you'll be able to get your tailgate in it's normal position here, of course, that multi-pro, definitely gonna be a no-go. Of course, with it out in it's position. But as you guys are gonna see, that's gonna get you about three and a half inches of rise from the top of your hitch receiver. Now, of course, I think you have, maybe a little bit more than that with just this top weld on that inch and 7/8ths. Just as a heads up, again. But, should be nominal at best, figuring having weight, an a-okay time, get those couplers on there. Now, I don't think a lot of us are probably gonna have it in this position, but maybe you have a dump trailer, or something that- like that that does require you to have a little bit of rise. Nice that we have the option of course, to go ahead and meet all of our towing needs. To give you guys an idea of that max drop you're gonna have, you got about five and a half inches from the bottom of your hitch receiver. So you can, guys, go ahead and add that to your hitches at home to be sure with how much length you need to be watching out for on your vehicle. Now, one thing I will say, we do have actually a hitch lock on here today. So, the B&W doesn't naturally come with one, you guys do need to go ahead and pick yourself up one. Now, you could just go for a simple little pin and clip system, However, this is a very nice system that we wanna go ahead and have a little bit of security measures on, because it actually is a pretty integrated security system. Because of how this guy's machined, you're not gonna be able to get the guys off of here, it has a very nice holding system, especially when you actually get your coupler lock on, nobody's gonna be able to mess with this guy. So we definitely wanna have a way of securing our tow & stow. Here today we are using the infinite rule locking hitch pin. This guy just has a simple little lock on here, threads on there and holds it, makes it hard to actually take this guy off. Now it isn't an anti rattle device, so I will say, you will- you're gonna have a little bit of rock in here. But I do like how this pin system works, A: 'cause we can just go ahead and get that hitch lock, but B: if we wanted to, we could go ahead and grab the four pin system and actually get every single one of these guys replaced with a locking core. Now, that might be a little but overkill for the B&W, like I said, it is innately, has a lot of security in it. You're not gonna be able to mess with this system when it's on there. So, really, all you need is that hitch lock. Now, it can be nice if you don't want anybody or buddies or anybody else messing with you, or if you just like that added security, you can go ahead and grab the four set. However, I highly recommend taking a look at that hitch lock, that way you have a nice secure hold on your tow & stow. Well, now that we have everything ready, let's go ahead and see how it does when we hook it up to a trailer. All right, guys, here we are, just hooked it up to our camper to test out the tow & stow. As you guys can see, we flipped it over to the two and 5/16- five and 16th of an inch ball, to allow ourselves to hook up here. And we're just gonna drop this down into position. Of course, make sure your latch and couplers are out of the way, to go ahead and aid in getting on there properly. And once you start seating there correctly, we're gonna go ahead, put that weight onto our tow & stow and there we are, properly seating for ourselves, and go ahead and get our latch on position here. And there we are, nice and secure there on our ball. So, think we're gonna be doing okay here in this position, all we gotta do now is take this out the rest of the way. Let's go ahead and check it, see how we're doing there, if we do have a good latch or not. And it looks like it's holding on there good, so, let's go ahead and see if we can't get this up all the way, see how it looks. So we've gone ahead and unlatched it, now we just simply need to take it up. Well guys, it can be nice to go ahead and grab some kind of lubricant as well. I have seen some of those dry graphite lubricants, that have been known to do really well for these balls. Of course, to make sure that they are in working order for a long time. Like we mentioned before, it can go a long way to keep that rust from forming on here. A couple of awesome tidbits about this guy as well. You actually can go ahead and make sure that this is gonna be a very unique design, as a lot of these guys can't actually stow in this position like the B&W can. This is a patented design, and that becomes really great, 'cause you actually can, of course, stow this when you are moving. What becomes awesome about that, a lot of states are gonna have a stinger law, basically keeping you from having a ball mount that's actually from the back of your receiver when you're not in use of towing it, as you could make a little fender bender, something way worse for the person behind you. So this will be actually get that ball mount underneath our vehicle, that way we don't have it jutting out, creating a lance for somebody to go ahead and damage their vehicle on. That gets us compliant with the laws, and of course, it is gonna be American made, you know it's gonna be durable for the years to come, and it definitely is gonna be that quality production that B&W says that it is. It was nice to have those capabilities of that drop and that rise too, if we need it. And I will say, it can be a little hard to manipulate, that's my only thing, and I think after time of being used to it, I'll have an easier time of actually manipulating, using it consistently. It did just take a little bit of maneuverability, a little it of really going at it to get it properly aligned how we wanted, so I will say, that's the one caveat. However, when you're looking at the quality of the production, you know its gonna be holding up for a while. B&W, known and tested and true, that they are gonna be lasting you quite a while, which is great. So, in my mind, yes, definitely worth the purchase. Just one thing though, you will have to be conscious, of course, of stowing this away every time. But, I think that's gonna be easier than having to take it out, put it back in, if you use just a regular ball mount system, it's just gonna be a pain that you're gonna have to watch it every time. I like that this is constantly sitting in here. I'm not having a ball mount that's just sliding across the bed of my truck constantly. I will say, if you do find yourself doing that, it is a heavy item, it is gonna be slinging around quite a lot, so I'd probably put it on the inside of my vehicle if I wasn't having it installed constantly. But that's kinda the advantage of it, right We can leave it on back of here, we don't have to pull out, we can stow it away, and that way, it's always there, ready to be used when we need it. And, of course, it's gonna work great here, with the GM multi-pro tailgate, which you can't really beat. Love that we can actually get to fully utilize this guy to it's capabilities, and always has something ready to tow. Well guys, I think that about does it for our look at the B&W Tow & Stow 3-ball mount, here today at etrailer.com. I'm Bobby, thank you for watching..

My wife purchased the 2.5 inch B&W hitch for a gift but I needed the 2 inch. Julie was very helpful with the return process and ordering the correct 2 inch Tow and Stow hitch. I received the new hitch in 2 days and love it. The fit is perfect and looks great on me 2020 GMC AT4.

Great hitch, it's heavy and well made. Keep the pins greased to make it easier to adjust height. I typically remove and keep under the rear seat when I am not using it. My fear is my boys will play with it and open the multi pro gate into the hitch. Really like having the option to use all 3 ball sizes, no more searching for the 1 7/8".

Review from a similar MultiPro Tow and Stow in Trailer Hitch Ball Mount

Love this product. I drive a 2020 3500 Duramax and have been able to pull everything I’ve needed to while being able to use my multipro tailgate with the hitch still on the truck! With the rotating ball for quick and easy size selection you can’t beat it The hitch is pretty pricy but well worth it. Not a very good photo but you can still see the hitch

First off B&W makes some ridiculously crazy high quality products! This is certainly not my first B&W product but it was my first time ordering from etrailer.com. I ordered this Tuesday evening and selected the free delivery option and the receiver was delivered on Thursday!! Another amazing B&W product but this time delivered so ridiculously fast by etrailer.com shipping! I’ll certainly order from these folks again no questions asked....

If you have the new GMC multipro tailgate. This is the hitch for you. No worries when folding down the step to get into the truck bed. With old hitches, the step would hit the hitch and bend the tailgate. I did purchased the silencer. I would not work.

Great look, super functional and well built. Put the BW sticker on the trailer first thing. We used the hitch with two different trucks on the first trailer haul and it worked great!

I bought the wrong hitch and called customer service. They emailed me a label and I shipped back the hitch. Adam Y was very helpful and placed a new order for me. It was shipped the next day and I received it in 2 days. The order was done correctly and in time. etrailer is amazing and I would never go to anyone else for my truck accessories. They are a WORLD CLASS organization!

Review from a similar MultiPro Tow and Stow in Trailer Hitch Ball Mount

Works as advertised. Shank just clears tailgate. When towing my boat I use a 22 inch ball height and again the tailgate will clear the ball in the tow position. The pins take a bit to master, but work well. Quality unit. I bought extra pins in case someone tried to steal mine. Knock on wood. No issues so far. I also use a locking pin with the rattle free design. Nice package.

Awesome product from B&W! Keep in mind that this does weigh 31 lbs. Not something you just throw in the back of your bed when not in use and let slide around.

Thank you for your review. These ball mounts and balls take a lot of beating from trailer couplers. I would suggest cleaning their surface while looking for any nicks or imperfections, then spraying them down with anti-corrosion paint to prevent rust from happening on the bare metal.
