Reese 5th Wheel Hitch Rails

Heavy-duty, custom brackets dramatically reduce the amount of drilling and time required to install your fifth-wheel trailer hitch. Outboard design ensures simple access to mounting points. Brackets, 10-bolt base rails and hardware included.

Features:

  • Installation brackets mount beneath your truck bed to provide attachment points for 5th-wheel rails
  • Base rails sit in truck bed and allow installation of 5th-wheel trailer hitch
  • Fast, simple installation with outboard design
    • Extended-length base rails allow for mounting farther out from truck frame
      • Avoids underbed components for easier access
      • Cuts down installation time by more than half compared with universal kits
    • Custom brackets mount to existing holes in truck frame, minimizing drilling and measuring
  • Thoroughly tested kit is compliant with strict Society of Automotive Engineers guidelines
  • Kit includes brackets, 10-bolt rails and Grade-8 hardware
  • Compatible with Curt, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Husky, Reese and Valley 5th-wheel hitches
  • Sturdy, black powder coated steel resists corrosion

Specs:

  • Base rail dimensions: 48" long x 1-7/8" tall
  • Limited lifetime warranty

Reese's outboard installation kit for your fifth-wheel trailer hitch was designed with safety and convenience in mind. Just like the original custom mounting brackets, these brackets install using existing holes in the truck frame, minimizing installation time. The biggest difference with this outboard kit is the extended-length rails. These above-bed rails are 5 inches longer than standard, universal fifth-wheel rails so that they will match up with the mounting points on the brackets, which sit below the bed and outside of your truck's frame. The result is a much simpler installation process, wherein most underbed components can be easily avoided. Because you are working outside the frame rails, you also have easier access with your tools and more room to work, making the whole process less of a pain.

The base rails included in this installation kit feature a standard 10-bolt design. Each of these rails attaches to the underbed brackets with two carriage bolts at both ends. A single bolt is used in the center of each rail to further secure it in your truck bed. The result is a set of base rails that remains firmly in place thanks to 10 points of contact.

This entire installation kit is built to be SAE J2638 compliant and has been extensively tested per specified accelerated-life-cycle criteria for fifth-wheel trailer hitches. The requirements for testing are based on the European-style test of 900,000 cycles, making this testing process among the most thorough and intensive in the industry.

All Items arrived today in excellent condition. They were packed great. I was really suprised that they arrived so fast. This is my second purchase from etrailer land, and as in the past it has been a pleasure doing business with them. If you have any questions you get a quick response. I would highly recommend etrailer for any items you may need. .

Excellent product. The brackets and rails went onto my truck very easily. All of the work was within easy reach inside the wheel well. I would definately advise these brackets over ones that require access from under the vehicle. etrailer was great to do business with. The order was delivered in 4 business days, all parts were shipped together, and they arrived in excellent condition.

I am very satisfied with the Reese Rails and the custom frame attachment. It was delivered on 12:30 pm and I had it completely installed and ready to tow by 3:30 pm. Existing 5th wheel hitch fit perfectly. I am very happy I chose an outboard install as opposed to an inboard install. Did not have to remove or move anything on the truck to install the bolts and nuts. Would have been even easier if I had someone help me.

I installed on a Chevy 3500HD, its been fine. I've also used with two hitches, a Reese 16k and Curt q20, no problems with either. Frame rails installed fairly easily although I did loose a bolt using one of the pull thru wires. Go slow and take your time and it will work fine.

1 year latter and maybe 60 hooks and unhooks latter, its a quirky hitch to latch. It does like to have some weight on it. I really appreciate the color coding on the clamp indicator. The safety pin latch is a good design too. So far so good but I still have trouble getting a good lock in at times

@Robert Glad to hear Robert, have you taken your trailer on any cool trips in the past year?

I have a 2019 3500hd single wheel. This is 3rd truck that I have had my valley slider hitch installed in and the first time installing the rails myself. Directions were easy to follow and the etrailer videos helped out as well. Rails are definitely a bit taller than other rails but not much of a concern to me. Glad I decided on this setup. Hardware was accessible and made torquing a bit easier.

Great product as usual from Reese. Fast shipping from e trailer. Installed in 2016 3500hd LTZ to pull a 44' XLR toyhauler. Only thing I'd change would be mounting hole location in brackets to frame rails. The B&W hitch I took out used factory installed threaded holes to mount their brackets. Thanks again to REESE & ETRAILER.

2012 GMC Sierra

I like these rails! Installation was easy because you can access all of the bolts from the wheel wells. (except the two middle bolts). The rails are a little taller and longer than other rails but the ease of installation is worth it. Great installation videos help me decide on what rails to purchase. Customer service confirmed fitment, great service.

2018 Chevy 2500 hd went with outside bolt up brackets went great about a hour and a half all done but torquing down didn’t have to get under truck but for center bolts on rails much easier than inside bolt up had that one on previous truck well worth the ext few bucks would highly recommend thanks etrailer

I bought this Reese Quick Install bed rail kit for my 2015 GMC 2500HD Denali. Etrailer had great prices and shipped the kit quickly. Installation was straight forward and fairly easy. This kit puts all of the bolts in easily accessible locations which is a blessing compared to other kits that put bolts between the gas tank and bed. Also, I did not have to cut my heat shield to reach the bolts. Install took me less the 1 1/2 hours. I would suggest you follow the etrialer install video instead of the confusing instructions supplied with the kit. I would HIGHLY recommend this kit to anyone looking to install bed rails themselves.

Do you have to remove the rear wheel liners?

Jon H. profile picture

10/30/2015

In response to you question Bob, you do not have to remove the stock wheel well liners. If you have the after market liners that cover the frame, you will have to remove them or make holes in them to access the bolts. The bolts that you fish through the frame and the bolts that go through the bed are easily accessible with the factory liners. Also, I did not remove the rear wheels and had no problems. Post any other questions you might have. Jon H

This product looks to be in better condition then the fifth wheel. The shipping container had a lack of packing and caused the product to move and slid so much in the box that the instructions were smashed into a ball of paper. I think the bag of hardware was what moved end to end in transit is the cause.

Thanks to the crew getting the hitch to me with zero delay or hassle. All parts were there, rail package was torn up bad but not a issue.

Easy to install. The frame brackets mount through the wheel well . No crawling under the truck. The frame brackets are not marked Left or right. I had to look closely at the diagram in the instructions to see how they mounted. I installed a hitch years ago and this was by far much easier. There is no frame drilling . Installed in under 2 hours, being careful not to damage the sprayin bedliner or paint . 2015 GMC 2500

I purchased Item: RP56001-53 for my 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 3500hd dually. This item is very well made, heavy duty and comes with everything that is required for mounting. I read some reviews that had issues with shipping, mine was delivered by UPS and was is perfect condition. I'm 65 years old and had no problem mounting the unit. You must view the video a couple times prior to assembly, the instructions help as a reference as you continue with the installation. Pay close attention to the tightening procedure of the nuts, this is important. The video states finger tighten the nuts on the frame brackets, be sure the frame brackets are flush against the frame, but not tight. I'm very satisfied with the end result. Great product.

by:

THE GOOD, BAD, AND UGLY
THE GOOD...Easy
to install, the fit was excellent, the price was OK. As always Etrailer was easy to contact and friendly.
THE BAD...Two of the frame bracket bolts stripped while torquing the grade 8 bolts. They stripped when they were within 20 ft pounds of the required amount. I had to take the truck to a local mechanic to have them removed with special equipment. He said a grade 8 bolt should never strip the way these did. He said that they must be a cheap or "knock off" bolts from a foreign country.
THE UGLY...It cost me $75 to have to defective bolts removed, it took 2 weeks to get the replacements (the first replacement set of replacement bolts were incorrect and had to be shipped again), I had to cancel 2 RV trips with friends due to the screw ups.

2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

This is my second set of these bed rails from etrailer. It makes the installation job much quicker not having to drill the frame of the truck with these custom brackets. Reeses instructions are easy to follow as well

by:

Strong and very reliable. Easy to follow instructions took about hour and 45 min. to install in two steps, had a spray in bed liner installed after all holes were drilled. Would definitely recommend. Will need a large torque wrench though. Thanks for another great product.

by:

I was very pleased with the products I bought and the service and attention I recieved afterwards. My phone call was received With a fast response and my question answered. I would recommend these folks for any towing or hitch needs.

by:

Product torque specs must have been off because I broke two bolts trying to torque to their specs - and these are NOT small bolts! It was kind of a hassle to get them back out of the frame rail after they broke but I built up a magnet that worked. I had to get them to send new bolts and fish wire in order to get them reinstalled. When I called them they said "oh, you must have vintage A instructions instead of vintage B". I said, if "vintage A was wrong you should have recalled them from all vendors before they were sent out!!!" After I finally got them installed AGAIN, they work fine. Reese needs to listen up.

by:

This fifth wheel installation kit worked very well. The instructions we're clear and precise. Everything went together well just as it was supposed to. This kit was much easier to install than most other ones on the market due to the outboard design. I would recommend this to anyone. Etrailer did a great job in helping me select it and it was delivered just as promised.

by:
2016 GMC Sierra 2500

I installed it myself following the Reese directions and reviewing the how-to video for my truck model that ETrailer provided on their web page. I don't have a lift so it took about 3 hours in my garage without jacking and taking any wheels off. Taking the rear wheels off would have made it easier but it was not really necessary. Using the torque wrench was awkward in places so I used my impacter to get the bolts near the recommended tongue spec. then finished it off with the torque wrench.
