No need to stop, pull levers, or climb in and out of the truck. The automatic slider built into this hitch gives you 14" of travel whenever you make a tight turn. The rack-and-pinion gears move the head smoothly toward the tailgate to create turning clearance, then slide it back toward the cab when you straighten out. It’s an easy way to keep your trailer clear of the cab in short-bed setups without any manual steps.
The Demco Autoslide hitch is built from solid steel and rated for 21,000 lbs gross towing weight with a 5,250 lbs vertical load limit. That kind of strength gives you confidence towing fully loaded fifth-wheel campers or toy haulers. The sturdy base and reinforced locking bar make for a solid connection that stays secure mile after mile.
The single-piece wraparound jaw completely surrounds the king pin for full 360-degree contact. This tight fit reduces rattle and chucking for a quiet, stable ride. A 3/4" thick solid steel locking bar slides in front of the jaw to back up the connection automatically when the jaw closes, adding another layer of security before you pull away.
The double-pivot hitch head moves front to back and side to side so your trailer can follow road changes naturally. Three polyurethane dampeners—two inside the head and one underneath—help absorb road shock and cut down on noise. The head automatically tilts to meet your pin box during hookup, making it simple to line up and connect.
Getting your trailer level is easy with three height positions built into the side plates. You can fine-tune the setup between 15-1/4", 16-1/2", and 18" to match your pin box height. Once it’s set, the hitch stays solidly locked into place on the included above-bed base rails with safety pins that keep everything secure when you’re on the road.
This fifth-wheel trailer hitch is not compatible with Sidewinder or Revolution king pins. Do not use any device that changes the pivot point of your trailer's king pin with this hitch.

Today we're going to take a look at the Demco Hijacker Premier Series Custom Mounting Brackets for the fifth wheel above-bed base rail. This is a custom-fit part. It is designed to fit the 2002-2012 Dodge Ram and Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 series trucks with either the six-foot bed or the eight-foot bed. Now I know on any custom-fit part, I like to recommend to go to our website, use our fit guide. Put in your year model vehicle and it will show if these will work for your application. These installation brackets mount beneath your truck bed, and they provide the attachment points for your fifth wheel rails. Now the base rails, we do sell separately on our website.
It's part number DM6071 and the rails will sit in you truck bed, and they allow the installation of the fifth wheel trailer hitch to your truck. These custom-fit brackets are designed to mount to existing holes in your vehicle's frame. If yo you can see, they're all labeled for what position they go in. This will help minimize drilling, reduces installation time, and it also is known to avoid known obstacles along your truck's frame. All these parts are a sturdy steel construction with a nice black powder-coat finish to help resist corrosion. All the hardware is included to install this.

Thank you for the review! While I do see where a hole in the mounting bracket would make this easier to remove with your Adapter Plate # DM6333, a solid bracket in this instance is much better for strength, especially considering this hitch is designed around the universal rails for trucks.

In the description it says locking plates, sold separately, are required for the Rota-Flex Pin box that you have. Item # DM6171

I firmly believe that every fifth sold should have one of these hitches. It is a job getting it in and out of truck but I feel better knowing its not going to let my trailer damage my truck.

After about 6000 miles the hitch developed some fore and aft movement. After another 2000 miles it seemed to be excessive with a loud clunk when stopping and starting. Yes, I do grease it as per instructions before each trip. I called Demco and told them the problem and they sent me the parts I needed at no charge since it was under warranty. Since I had the mechanical ability I disassembled, diagnosed and repaired it myself. I thought later on that I should have been compensated something for my time only because if I took it to a dealer they would have charged for labor. Just a suggestion, there needs to be an easier way to lubricate this hitch rather than removing the large pivot pin and also the large pivot bolt and greasing them by hand. Some well placed grease fittings would make this job a lot easier and cleaner, especially when on the road. Also, the hitch owner would be far more inclined to do it. Other than that the hitch has performed great and I am very happy with it. Thanks.
