Question:

I’m going to get a new hitch.for a 2016 32’ grand design solitude. So what do you recommend to buy, so I don’t have to get out of the truck to do a 90 degree? now that I have the 2020 gmc 2500hd. With my trailer could I get by with just a regular hitch? Or do you recommend the slider. The OEM prep is in it. I purchased the goose neck fifth wheel package when I ordered the truck.

For any truck with a bed that is less than 8 feet long you are definitely going to want a sliding 5th wheel hitch as opposed to a fixed hitch, and for this there is one hitch that meets your needs perfectly - the Demco Hijacker Autoslide. This is the only hitch available that is going to allow you to stay in your truck when making a sharp turn because it glides effortlessly on its own as you round those corners.

For your 2020 GMC Sierra 2500 with the factory prep package you will need the Demco 5th Wheel Rail Adapter for Chevy/GMC OEM 5th Wheel Towing Prep Package # DM6333 and the Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider - 18,000 lbs # DM8550034 or 21,000 lbs # DM8550035.

The auto-slide feature on the Hijacker is the most prominent aspect of the hitch and precisely what you were looking for, but that isn't the only part of the hitch that makes it the best option because it also has one of the most secure jaw systems on the market. I have a 2020 Chevy Silverado 3500 with the OEM prep trailer package I also have a BW model RV be 325 5/ fifth wheel hitch will this fit in the Demco DM6333 at rail adapter? If I did not need a slider hitch on a 05 Silverado with a 6 1/2box why would I need a slider rail system for a box that is 6 foot nine inches ?

The fixed B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Hitch will work great with the Demco Rail Adapter # DM6333 (it's just the sliding version that's not compatible). If you didn't have any issues towing the trailer with your previous model short bed truck I think you'll be just fine sticking with your existing fixed hitch. Some trailer are just better designed to work with short beds (tapered nose, rotating pin box, etc).
