Recommended Axle for Golf Cart Trailer
Question:
I am looking at a new 7 x 12 which I haul mostly a golf cart. which set up would you recommend? 3500 single axel upgrade to 5200 axel or go tandem??

If you are looking to primarily haul a golf cart, going with a single 3,500 pound axle should more than sufficient. Keep in mind though that the weight capacity of the trailer you are looking at can depend on more than just the axle it is equipped with. The trailer is always going to be limited by its weakest component. This means that you can have a 3,500 pound (or higher) axle on the etrailer, but if the frame itself or other parts like the wheels are rated for less, you will need to follow the capacity of these lower-rated components.
For your trailer, I highly recommend looking into a an Axle-Less Suspension System from Timbren like part # ASR35HDS02. This Axle-Less system will provide your trailer with a smooth, quiet ride and can eliminate the need for a standard axle. They are designed to fit any frame width and this particular system features a 3,500 pound capacity and a 4 inch spindle lift for increased ground clearance. You can add compatible hub and drum assemblies with the Dexter Trailer Hub # 8-201-9UC3-EZ.
