Blue Ox Base Plate Kit Installation - 2015 Kia Soul

Speaker 1: Today on our 2015 Kia Soul, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit with Removable Arms, part number: BX2726.So, here's what our base plate looks like when it's fully installed. This is gonna give us a secure attachment point so we can hook up our tow bar and safely flat tow our Soul down the road. Now, the nice thing about this tow bar is, it has removable arms. So, if we pull this pin and rotate it, you can actually pull the arm out, giving it an inconspicuous look, and that way we're not gonna have any brackets protruding out. This sturdy, dependable design is gonna evenly distribute the towing weight so that we're gonna reduce the amount of weight that's put on our suspension. Our base plate is gonna be a construction of steel, with a nice black powder-coat finish, so it is gonna hide nicely and also resist rust and corrosion. To keep our base plate clean, and to keep dirt and debris from getting inside, they do provide us with some caps when we're not towing.

Kia Soul Base Plates Questions and Answers

  • Can 2018 Kia Soul Manual Transmission be Flat Towed
  • Yes, it looks like the manual transmission versions of the 2018 Kia Soul are flat towable. You'd need a base plate kit part # RM-522115-4 which is a confirmed fit. In addition to the base plates, you will also need a compatible tow bar, safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking to flat tow your vehicle. The most popular compatible tow bar is the Falcon 2, # RM-520. For safety cables you can use # RM-643. The coiled design helps keep the cables off of the ground. For lighting...

  • Does Key Need To Be In Ignition When Flat Towing A Kia Soul?
  • I checked the owners manual for the 2018 Kia Soul, and they advised that If your vehicle is equipped with side and curtain air bag, set the ignition switch to LOCK or ACC position when the vehicle is being towed. The side and curtain air bag may deploy when the ignitions is ON, and the rollover sensor detects the situation as a rollover. If the car is being towed with all four wheels on the ground, it can be towed only from the front. Be sure that the transaxle is in neutral. Be sure...

In addition to the base plates, you will also need a compatible tow bar, safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking to flat tow your vehicle. • Parts Needed to Flat Tow 2017 Kia Soul
  • Most manual transmission vehicles will have the steering wheel unlocked even with a key not in the ignition, but I checked the owners manual and Kia recommends putting the key in the ACC position to allow the steering wheel to unlock. You can try turning the wheel with the key not in the ignition and you'll know pretty quick if the wheel is locked. For a base plate kit you'll want the part # RM-522115-5 which is a confirmed fit. In addition to the base plates, you will also need a...

  • Base Plate Kit Recommendation for 2017 Kia Soul that Can Use Vehicle Mounted Tow Bar
  • I have a solution for a base plate kit for your 2017 Kia Soul but it is not an EZ5 kit as they require a motorhome mounted tow bar since they don't use a crossbar. Instead you would want the part # RM-522115-4 is an EZ4 kit and is compatible with a vehicle mounted tow bar like the part # RM-501 which would work well. For safety cables you can use # RM-643. The coiled design helps keep the cables off of the ground. For lighting you can use the diode kit, # RM-15267, and not have...

Each of these is detailed in the linked article which may be a good starting point for you. • Does EZ5 Base Plate Kit for a 2016 Kia Soul Require Crossbar
  • The Roadmaster base plate kit part # RM-522114-5 is an EZ5 base plate kit that does not require the use of the crossbar that you see on other base plate kits. The cross tube of the kit takes the place of the support that a crossbar would provide. A tow bar like the popular Falcon part # RM-520 would still work with this kit but you just wouldn't use the crossbar. For safety cables you can use # RM-643. The coiled design helps keep the cables off of the ground. For lighting you...

On some RVs there is a brake controller port. If the RV was built on a Ford F-53 chassis then there will be a port for sure and you would use brake controller harness # 3035-P with the brake controller recommended by Expert Adam, # 90885....
