I have included a link to the installation instructions for you. If you will be doing some towing, the correct ball mount is # 3593 and you can use pin and clip # PC2. For a 1-7/8 inch diameter ball, use # 19256 and for a 2 inch diameter ball use # 19258. For trailer wiring use # 118508. I have included some...

  • Compatibility of Curt Class I Receiver # C11282 on 2012 Chevy Cruze with RS Package
  • According to Curt Manufacturing, the # C11282 is compatible with all models of the Chevy Cruze, including those equipped with the RS package. If you will be using the hitch for a bike rack or a cargo carrier, keep in mind that the warranty requirements of the hitch require that a stabilizing strap like part # 18050 is required. The Draw-Tite hitch, part # 24882 has no such requirement, which is why I would recommend it over the Curt model. I have linked you to installation instructions...

  • Trailer Hitch and Wiring for a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze
  • For the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze, the CURT Trailer Hitch, # C11282, is verified to fit. If you will be carrying bikes with this hitch on your Cruze, the Thule Vertex 2 Bike Carrier, # TH9028, is a popular 2 bike rack option. If you will be towing with your Cruze, I have listed some items you may need to complete your Class 1 towing setup. 1-7/8 inch hitch ball, # 19256, or 2 inch hitch ball, #19258 Trailer Wiring Harness, # 118058 etrailer.com Ball Mount Bag, # ETBMB Hitch Lock, # 5200

  • Recommendation for Carrying Three 60 lb. Downhill Bikes with a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze
  • I checked with our hitch suppliers and each one says that their hitch will fit all models of the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze including the RS model. All of the hitches for the Cruze are Class I hitches and are limited to carrying two bikes only. The reason for this limitation is that the extra torque created by hanging a third bike that far away from the back of the vehicle can cause damage to the bike rack and bikes, hitch or vehicle frame. We do have a solution though. I would recommend...

  • Can a 1-1/4 to 2 Inch Hitch Adapter be Used with Curt Trailer Hitch C11282 on a 2012 Chevy Cruze
  • As you have mentioned, the Curt trailer hitch # C11282 (and other brands) for the 2012 Chevy Cruze have 1-1/4 inch receivers. Because of this, to use a 2 inch accessory, you will need to use a hitch adapter, # HTAD. However, this will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the hitch by 50 percent. The Curt hitch has a tongue weight capacity of 200 pounds, by using the adapter, it is reduced to 100 pounds. This means that the combined weight of the bike rack and bikes cannot exceed 100...

  • Trailer Hitch And Wiring Recommendation For 2012 Chevrolet Cruze
  • From the research I found, the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze has a towing capacity of 1,000 lbs. The Curt Hitch, part # C112823, will work for you. This is a Class l hitch and has a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening. All non-trailer loads - bike racks, cargo carriers and so forth - should be supported with stabilizing straps like part # 18050. Failure to properly support these loads will void your hitch warranty from Curt. To tow a trailer you will need a hitch ball. For a 1-7/8 inch ball I recommend...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch And Bike Carrier For 2012 Chevrolet Cruze
  • The trailer hitch I recommend for your 2012 Cruze is the Draw-Tite Hitch, part # 24882. This is a Class l hitch and it has a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening. The installation for all three of these hitches is going to be similar and it has been verified to fit all models of the Cruze. I have attached a link to an installation of this hitch on a 2012 Cruze you can check out. With a Class l hitch you are limited to carrying 2 bikes. The hitch-mounted bike carrier I recommend is the Swagman...

  • Trailer Hitch Fits for 2012 Chevrolet Cruze 2LT RS
  • All three of the light-duty Class I hitches we offer for the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze will fit all models of the vehicle. The trim level does not affect hitch compatibility. Of the three hitches shown on the linked page I suggest the Curt # C11282 since it has the same weight capacity as the others but it costs less. An installation video for the Curt hitch # C11282 is included along with the written instructions. You'll need basic tools; the only specialized item required is a torque wrench...

  • Is Bumper or Fascia Trimming Required to Install a Trailer Hitch on a 2012 Chevy Cruze
  • To install Curt trailer hitch # C11282, you will not need to make any modifications to the bumper or rear fascia. You will need to temporarily lower the exhaust by simply removing the affected area off of its hangers while supporting the pipes with a strap. And there is a heat shield that has to be modified as well but it is under the vehicle and not visible. Once installed the receiver will be below the rear fascia. I have included a link to a video showing installation of the hitch...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2012 Chevy Cruze
  • For your 2012 Chevy Cruze you would need a hitch like the Draw Tite part # 24882. The Chevy Malibus and Cruzes are different enough vehicles that a hitch from one would not fit the other. I attached an install video for you to check out as well.

  • Will Magna-Flow Aftermarket Exhaust Tips Affect Hitch Fit on 2012 Chevrolet Cruze
  • I do not see any fits for Magna-Flow complete aftermarket exhaust systems offered for your 2012 Chevrolet Cruze so I presume you are referring only to exhaust tips rather than a complete aftermarket exhaust system. The installation of any of the hitch receivers offered for your vehicle should be unaffected by the exhaust tips installed on your Cruze. Many vehicles require for hitch installation temporary lowering of the exhaust to provide better access to the hitch connection points...

  • Warranty Implications of Installing Receiver Hitch on 2011 Chevy Cruze
  • Installing a hitch on your 2011 Cruze will not have any warranty implications if the hitch is installed as outlined in the instructions and used within the weight bearing capabilities of the vehicle. Consumers of aftermarket products are protected by the Federal Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act. The Act states that if something breaks on your vehicle and you take it in for warranty repair, the dealer must honor your warranty unless whatever modifications you have added to your vehicle actually...

  • The Hidden Hitch Class I 1-1/4 Inch Hitch, part # 60299 (no longer available), will fit your 2011 Chevrolet Cruze. The installation of the hitch will not require any drilling or modification of the vehicles undercarriage. I am including a link to the installation instructions on the Hidden Hitch. Since you will be using the hitch for only a hitch bike rack and not for towing, I would recommend to look at the Draw-Tite Class I 1-1/4 Inch Hitch, part # 24882. This is the same hitch as...

While there is no drilling needed, you might need to enlarge an existing access hole in order to fish the hardware through to bolt on the hitch. • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2011 Chevy Cruze
  • The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, # 24882, does not require a stabilization strap when carrying non-trailer loads such as a bike rack. But it is a good idea on a class I trailer hitch just because it relieves some of the stress on the hitch. If you decide to use a strap, you can use # 18050. Since this is a class I trailer hitch, you will need to make sure your bike rack is compatible. Some racks cannot be used on a class I trailer hitch. If you find you do need a rack that is compatible...

  • Can Trailer Hitch for a 2001 Ford Windstar Fit a 2011 Chevy Cruze
  • The hitch companies custom design the hitch so it fits a certain year make and model vehicle. In some instances, the same part number hitch will fit numerous model years of the same vehicle, with the hitches for the Honda Odyssey being an example. This being said, a hitch designed for a 2001 Ford Windstar would not fit a 2011 Chevy Cruze. We offer a hitch that's custom designed for the Cruze. If you're needing the hitch as an attachment point for a bike rack, I'd recommend the Draw-Tite...
