Question:

I have a Blue Ox tow bar. Is there an available baseplate to fit my 98 Chevy Tahoe that is compatible with my Blue Ox tow bar? All I see on your website are Roadmaster base plates for that vehicle.

I spoke with my contact at Blue Ox and she said you can use Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX1712 with your 1998 Chevy Tahoe 1500.

If you need a lighting solution there are several options depending on your specific needs and how often you will be flat towing the Tahoe. I have included a link to an FAQ article that covers the various options for you.

You will also need safety cables. Part # BX88197 has a weight capacity of 10,000 lbs,

Most states now require a supplemental braking system on the vehicle being flat towed. The easiest system to set up and use is the Blue Ox Patriot, # BLU37TR. This is a proportional system that applies the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the towing vehicle is braking. Proportional systems are the safest way to stop and they reduce wear and tear on both vehicles.
